"Found
on Angie's List and did not really shop around.
promptly returned my call and I was a bit pleasantly surprised" that he set up an appointment for the next day on a Sunday. He was very personable and seemed to love his job. He showed us how to take care of the fireplace as he replaced the ignitor, cleaned the fireplace and reset the logs. He put in new embers which looks really great. It's nice to be able to use our fireplace again.

The Angie's List Guide to Winter Maintenance

It's the time of year when the winter weather can take a toll. Follow this winter maintenance checklist to protect your home, your car and your health.

Fireplaces

Most people enjoy sitting in front of a fire on a cold day, but traditional, wood-burning fireplaces come with a few disadvantages. They tend to waste energy, require maintenance and pose some risk. Read this guide to discover several alternatives that provide the same ambiance, but with fewer downsides.

Dear Angie: How much can I expect to pay to have my wood fireplace converted to gas? Our house is about 30 years old. The bottom of the fireplace looks like it's easily accessed through the basement. The conversion would involve running 30 to 50 feet of gas line. — Thomas M., Cincinnati, Ohio

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

Terrible experince. This company will rip you off. Not only are the prices unreasonable, the owner is rude and unprofessional. Check the Yelp reviews which will say the same. (My husband booked this guy w/o checking reviews)
The service rep was nice enough. Spent an hour and a half at our house. Fixed one break in the main gas line that runs from our house to our outdoor gas lanterns. Charged us over $600. This was not the agreed upon cost. When we asked questions the owner,

, became confentational, rude and condescending.

The company is unprofessional and a complete rip off.

It's been going on a week and I have yet to receive a return call to even get a service call appointment scheduled. They are more than happy to sell you the products but their customer service is terrible. They obviously don't care about servicing their customers in any sort of timely manner. It's still really cold, late February and I don't have a working insert, which I rely on mostly to heat my home. I'm seriously considering reaching out to an authorized dealer 100 miles away just so I don't have to deal with this company again because their service is so bad.

I'm very happy with

service. My fireplace looks great and is working again. He put down floor coverings, took off his shoes without being asked, and was incredibly polite. He gave us a one year warranty and said he will come back if anything goes wrong within the next year at no extra charge, even though we didn't have any repairs done.

Overall very well, very knowledgeable about gas logs. Shop is open a few days a week and sometimes slow to reply to messages. Fairly complicated repair, had to take log unit apart to install new control box. I would definitely recommend for gas log work.

The

salesperson came to our house in May 2014. Everything sounded wonderful and easy. He said there is not a lot of demand for fireplaces in the summer, so we should get ours right away. We went to the showroom, chose our logs and our door and went on our way.
We did not understand at the time that it took multiple visits to get our fireplace installed. If we had known that we would have asked them to start doing those visits over the summer. However, since we didn't know that we asked them to wait until they had all the parts we had ordered - logs, grill, and door - and then come do the installation all at once.
This was supposed to happen in August. But the door was a couple months late and we didn't start installation until the fall, which was when we realized the multiple times we would have to take off from work to be home for the fireplace installation.
Then the door didn't fit. We were able to use the fireplace, but since it was in our bedroom, we were required to have the flue permanently opened in the chimney. We wanted the door so our air conditioning and heat wouldn't leave the house and so the hot and cold air wouldn't come in the house.
We ordered a new door (a more expensive model was now required) in November and in December

sent someone to measure our fireplace again to make sure the door would fit.
Now it is the end of February and we still don't have a door or any idea of when a door will come.
Everyone at
Connersville Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been very nice. One time an employee came to our house to be home for the installation folks when we could not make it. Even the salesman with the door was nice. But nice isn't enough when we are now nine months into our fireplace project and we have a permanently open flue in our chimney and no door.
I'm hoping to update this review with better news. For now, I cannot recommend

to anyone.

Great! Very professional with helpful advise. Was very knowledgeable. Also cared about cleanliness of the work site, which stands out above a lot of contractors.

I was very happy with both services. He did a great job. They were also very conscientious of my sun room, which was under the chimney. They sent me a thank you card with a nice Starbucks gift card after the work was done too.
