"I received a phone call from
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
(company owner) that work would start 11/1, weather permitting. On the morning of November 1 I received a phone call from
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
informing me the crew would arrive about 9:30 - 9:45 AM. About 9:45 AM
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
and a crew of 4 arrived with a trailer of materials. Within a short time after introductions and a review of work to be done, the crew was busy setting up scaffolding and putting down protective tarps on the roof and on the ground. Within a few hours, they had removed the 21 rows of bricks, cut the fake flue and started rebuilding. All materials were lowered and lifted by means of a bucket, rope and wheel in a safe manner. By the end of day one, the 19 rows of bricks were rebuilt and the fake flue eliminated.
On Day two, the top two rows were stair stepped out, a stainless steel chase cover installed, a stainless steel rain/animal cap installed, and a number of cracked/damaged bricks throughout the chimney below the roof line were removed and new bricks installed. A polymer modified mortar was placed on the shoulder at a 45 degree angle - but this material caused a problem. Then holes in the upper front of the firebox were parged with Chamber Tech and a crack in the floor of the firebox was sealed with hight temp mortar caulk.
The crew cleaned up everything, cleaned mortar from the new chimney, washed off the acid cleaner, washed brick/mortar dust from the house and driveway and put away all of their tools.
The next morning (Sunday) I noticed that the polymer modified mortar on the shoulder did not perform as described. It cracked, pulled away from the bricks and did not keep the 45 degree angle shape. I left a phone message with
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
on Sunday. Monday morning I called
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
to inform him of the problem but he was already alerted to the problem by photos that had been taken by
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
at the conclusion of their work on Saturday.
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he was already in the process of sending a crew back to remove the defective material on the shoulder and installing the same material that had been used on the rest of the chimney. I also asked if the color of the shoulder material could be made darker so as not to draw attention from the street view. No problem.

arrived promptly and after a short discussion work was started. The old material was removed and new mortar with a bit of charcoal dye was installed. The work took about half a workday to complete. It looks great as you will see in my before and after photos.
I was presented an itemized invoice when I paid for the work. I was also asked if everything was satisfactory. Waterproofing will be done in about 4-6 wks (weather permitting) There will be another inspection of the work to make sure everything bonds.

"He cleaned the chimney but didn't do the masonry. We still needed to have our porch raised. But because of the miscommunication, he said that the coupon for the masonry work wouldn't expire and to just call when we are ready to have the work done.

"It was fine. They didn't always call back on time and let us know more about exactly what was going on. Once they did the work, the work was fine. It was quite a bit for both those things."

and a crew of 2 other men came out and were very thorough about diagnosing the problem of our leaks. Even going up into our attic to be extra thorough in their inspection. A written estimate was given on the spot. We had 3 roofers to give estimates. One of which cancelled on us twice and the other was highly rated on Angie's list but, when my husband asked him about the Angie's list discount he said it was already built into our price?
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
honored the Angie's list discount no questions asked. We called and faxed in our contract the next day and they came out the next day and fixed our roof. Two guys were here from 9:30-3:30. The roofer was very knowledgable and told me all the flaws up on the roof with our flashing from when the house was built and told me how he corrected everything. Basically redoing a 2-3 ft radius around the chimney. It was a beautiful feb. day 65 degrees! It has rained hard once since then. So far, no leaks!! We have been pleased so far and would not hesitate recommending this company to our friends.

"Shopping for a replacement fireplace door at
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
in Carmel was a pleasure. First, an estimator came and measured the fireplace opening before we shopped. There's a nice variety in styles and prices. The sales personel are very friendly with no pressure to buy. We took sample finishes home and made our final selection on the second visit to the shop. The door had to be special ordered. It arrived on schedule and the installer was proficient, friendly and gave helpful advice. The installation was completed before Christmas, as requested. We have had many fires since and the precision installed doors and screen operate perfectly."

He completed the job professionally, was punctual, and paid exceptional attention to detail. If I need masonry work completed in the future, I will definitely use this company again."

"The technician was 30 minutes early! I wasn't expecting him so early and I was in the shower! That was embarrassing! Originally, we contacted
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
's Fireplace Supply (upon recommendation from O'
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
's Fireplace) to purchase the fireplace firebox panel. They quoted $110 for the panel and $20 for shipping and it would take four weeks. After seven, we cancelled the order and called
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
. The receptionist said that a panel could be made and it would cost between $200 and $300 for dissassembly, cutting the panel to fit, and installation. Since we were preparing for installation of a prefabricated panel, my husband had already taken apart the firebox. I told the receptionist this, and asked if there would be any price difference. She said to ask the technician about it. The technician cut the panel and installed it with some screws. He was polite and professional in getting the job done. The bill was $225 for a 'brick' looking panel made out of some type of treated cement. I thought it was expensive, especially since 1/3 of the job was done for him. The technician claimed that since most of the companies that made these panels went broke,
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
had to get them from
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
. I think they are overpriced, but since you can't get the parts from O'
Carmel Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
's or a fireplace supply company, you are stuck paying a high price. (My husband replaced the very same panel in our last home for $40.) Before having the technician do the actual job, get the invoice ahead of time. I didn't and wished that I had.
