I brought my 6-yr old completely healthy Golden Retriever in for dental cleaning which I have done on a regular basis with the vet who previously owned
. This was my first visit with the new vet. I dropped her off in the morning and went to work returning at the end of the day to pick her up. She was still so sedated and lethargic, she could barely walk. Every other time she had had her teeth cleaned, she and my other dogs had recovered within an hour. I could barely get her to walk after a few hours at home. I called Dr.
, told her what was happening, and she came over to my house. She administered a drug to reverse the effects of the sedation. My dog became violently ill within minutes. I had to rush her to Animal Emergency. After they examined her, the doctor came to tell me that she had never seen a dog so over-sedated in her practice and that they needed to keep her overnight and administer fluids to flush it out. When I picked her up the following day, my poor dog could not even swallow water or eat without immediately choking and vomiting it up. I brought her to another highly recommended veterinary practice and the vet I met there examined her, took x-rays, ran some tests and determined that her esophagus was so badly damaged during the intubation from the breathing tube for the dental cleaning that she needed to be brought down to Texas A&M as they have doctors there who specialize in a procedure to open the esophagus up, much like an angioplasty. Upon arriving there and the doctors examining her, they reached the same conclusion - her esophagus was so damaged that without the procedure, she would not be able to eat normally. She had already begun to loose weight. I stayed there with her two weeks while they performed the procedure 4 times after which the esophagus had to scar over, then be reopened in order to allow her to swallow. That hospitalization, 4 surgeries, plus my expenses for the duration only cost me $6000. She can now eat, but I still have to make a pudding like mixture for her in order for her to swallow 3 years after this episode. I am reporting this only now as I just joined Angie's List and finally found a forum where I could air my grievance. I feel better already.

A stray dog was dropped off in the neighborhood on June 9th. She was a small white dog that was not friendly towards people and did not show any interest in food. After taking her to two other vets in
for shots and estimates to try to get her feeling better, I took her to
. Due to not knowing her age, a potential adoptive family backed out of getting her due to her condition. She badly needed her teeth cleaned and extractions. My vet, at the time, does not do dental X-rays. I was concerned of the cost . Howeveand since I was told up to 10 extractions needed; I also did not want any unnecessary teeth pulled. No one would want a pet that is acting so sickly so I decided to have
do her teeth cleaning. After getting her teeth taken care of, she has been eating and acting much better. After verifying with an X-rays, a total of 4 needed to be removed. All, but one was
extractions. One had an infection in the root. She still has a small tumor on her belly which
helped us figure a plan to get this taken care of soon, as well. Today, she is a different dog.... Very happy and showing much more of a personality... Still afraid of people, but doing better each day! Thanks to
!

I've been going to Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
for several years now. A regular vet office visit was always very stressful for my cat, so I needed to find an at-home option. we've been doing regular check-ups, shots, blood-work, urine samples, etc. in the comfort of my home which greatly reduces the stress and anxiety on my senior cat. Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is always very thorough and explains everything in great detail so you are able to make the best possible decisions for your pet's health. The price is obviously higher for in-home care than at a vet office, but I still rate the price category as an A since we are receiving great care and service for the price. My cat and I are glad to have Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
in our corner - it is easy to see that she truly cares about you and your pets. I highly recommend

Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
has been our
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
for several years now when our last
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
left his practice. We called initially because of the convenience of house calls but the quality of service is next to none. Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is responsive, reliable, punctual and knowledgeable. He also lets us know in advance when he is going on vacation so we can schedule what needs to happen intelligently. When our dog
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
was put down after suffering from cancer, we were able to schedule a visit in our home and say our good-bye's in our home, without taking her in a car to a strange place. And our other animals were able to smell her and know that she was gone (which we heard is a good idea so they don't 'look' for the missing friend). And Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
took her away so we didn't even have to deal with the body. Also, for those who are price conscious, his prices are completely comparable if not better than our last
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
(and that includes the extra cost for the house call). Other services he provides are less than our last
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
(with zero 'up-sell') and more than make up for the nominal fee he charges to come to our home. He was educated at one of the best veterinary schools in the country,
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, and really knows what he is doing. Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is a consummate professional and we are very grateful.

Visit went very well. The assistant came in and took my cat to the van. 45 minutes the doctor and assistant
brought him back in. He was a wobbly, but he did eat within half an hour. The doctor explained what he had
done and how to provide after care.
And I know they will me in a day or so to check on his condtion.

My dog really liked Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and he seems nice. This was my second visit and both times I left with the same feeling that I was not comfortable. I realized that I am not comfortable talking with Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
this may just be his personality vs mine. I have decided to not go back because of my comfort level. I was also not happy that I did not get a print out of services and cost, just got a receipt of the debit charge, which I thought was a bit overpriced. But because I did not get a break down of charges I don't really know. Again, my dog really liked him and I think he has a true compassion for the animals in his care, I just didn't get any "warm" and "fuzzy".

Our lab-mix had a growth on his right paw. Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's quoted $3800 to remove it and "necessary" testing. Our dog is 14 years old and we didn't want him rebuilt, just comfortable for his last couple years. Valley Vet did the procedure at less than half the cost and our "Shady" is doing great!! They did not do all the "UNNECESSARY" BS that
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's wanted. VALLEY VET is our new vet for our 6 dogs.

Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is all about the Benjamins!!!!! I don't think that
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
has any idea what is going on in his office anymore.

We started with
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
office last year after some mixed feelings about our previous Vet. We had 7 dogs and just started with teeth cleanings, which seemed to go O/K but was expensive. Our 10 year old Chihuahua, Roxi became ill so we took her to
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. They diagnosed Pancreatitis and recommended a 3 day treatment plan. After the 3 days she was no better and we were out fifteen hundred bucks. A week later we took her to be euphonized and one of the Drs said "
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
we felt from the first she wouldn't make it". What to h***?? They were happy to play on our attachment to the animal and take our money, but gave us little indication she wouldn't make it. Being stupid and not learning from this experience a month later we took our 14 year old Lab, Shady to them. He had a growth on his rt paw. As soon as the Dr looked at it she said it was too much for the regular Drs to handle and we needed an Orthopedic, which just happened to be there. I explained this is a 14 year old rescue dog and didn't want him rebuilt, just remove the growth and perhaps a toe so he would be comfortable his last couple years. His quote was $3600 to $3900. WOW!!!!!! I asked to do just the needed stuff and work the quote down. Still at $2900. We then went to Valley Vet Clinc for a consult and quote. $1600, guess who's doing the procedure. Time for another Vet!!!
