"The first day, the vet was very nice to me, and she thought the cat had pancreatitis,...so prescribed some pain meds for her. She had some good ideas...but then" things turned disastrous. My cat was not eating or drinking..and I had told the vet I was on disability, and wasn't sure I could afford all the blood tests, but then I ended up running them anyway..because I thought it was possibly pancreatitis and not cancer so maybe the cat could be helped. However, when I called a couple days later..the vet assistant told me she was having trouble reaching the vet..and I requested the animal get fluids. She said she would have to check with the vet..and she said my cat was having kidney issues, and that I would need to drop her off for her to get the cat to give a urine sample. I tried to explain Cricket was very dehydrated and might not be able to pee..and she needed fluids and the assistant didn't seem to get it. Finally I got a bit angry..said I was now thinking I might need to go back to my other vet if they didn't want to give fluids..and I refused the urine test which was 95$. I had spent 700.00 already between two pets,,,and was feeling panicked that I would have to pay more for a urine test when I needed to get her rehydrated. I was starting to feel scared I was going to
my cat...however I did call back to apologize to the vet assistant and then what happened next is that the vet did call me on an anonymous line..and she screamed at me that I was harassing her vet assistant and she terminated me as a client..reversed one of the meds she had ordered for Cricket..and reversed the blood test charges for the GI lymphoma test which I later asked the assistant to not reverse since the blood had already been drawn. I finally went back to the first vet who hydrated Cricket, and went to U of I for a sonogram, which shows Cricket may have a cyst or tumor near her pancreas. (This vet told me she does not like the U of I) I just wish I would have not wasted so much money and time on them. She may have helped Cricket a bit with the pain medication for the pancreas...but I admit I made a mistake going there..and this vet has quite a poor bedside manner if she could just terminate me when I had only called in twice trying to get fluids for my animal. I have never ever been treated that poorly by a veterinarian. Its possible she is in a personal crisis and took it out on me..but I would not recommend someone who could be so unkind.

"The doctor preformed a
resection to improve our dogs breathing and it really improved her life. Less snoring and can routinely breath much" easier. We had dental work and several teeth removed from another dog and it also made her much healthier and happier. The doctor explains the procedures well and his prices are fair.

Angie's Answers

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

Veterinarian reviews in Virginia

It was my first visit and everything went well. The assistants were very good. You can really tell they love cats. They have a special certification to be able to care for the cats and I was told to only go to a vet with this type of certification. They are supposed to be more health contentious and careful. We did not get to see the vet much. I had no problem scheduling the appointment. Their pricing is pretty high.

I have a 15 year old cat that hates all vets and becomes a wild cat when I take him into the examination room. I have taken him to many different vets throughout his life and all of them have required that I drop him off and leave him for several hours while they sedated him prior to performing any examination or just trimming his claws. It cost over $100 to get his claws trimmed.
Yesterday, I took my cat to
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and to my surprise, the vet and her assistant at
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
handled my cat expertly without giving him a sedative while I watched the examination, blood withdrawal, and claw trimming. The process took only about 15-20 minutes and I didn't have to pay to have him sedated. These people were professionals who were genuinely concerned about his welfare and did not attempt to sell unneeded services or products. I will not take my cat anywhere else from this point forward!

They are wonderful here. They are caring, efficient, and very reasonably priced. They are even open on the weekends, which I love! Dr.
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
specializes in small dogs and is wonderful with my

I was referred to
Virginia Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
by a friend and decided to try. My dog was having issues and I didn't know what was the problem so I made an appt., got in the same day and everyone was fantastic. The facility was large, clean and very well kept. The tech first met and just took my dog and cleaned her anal glands and only charged for the service. How pleasantly surprised! If I did want to see the doctor to further discuss, then an office call charge would be added but she explained everything so no necessary to see the doctor on this visit. My previous vet was always almost $100 for any visit. So glad to recommend this facility and hope you can use their services.
