and his crew are always fun to have working on my yard. They work hard and clean up after themselves.
brings good listensing skills and" great ideas to the table which make him an unusal contractor. This is the third of five projects he is doing for me. Next spring he will complete the front yard and then in two years he will be putting in a soaking tub and deck for me. His work has always been superb and reliable. I would recommend him to anyone who needs work done.

"I chose
because of their great reviews on Angie's list and because I wanted a company with an arborist to do the pruning, particularly for our
" tree which is at the front corner of our house. It is a big part of our house's
appeal and is close to the house, so I didn't want to call just any company to do it. I thought
was the right choice. My husband called and they were very friendly and responsive on the phone, and said they would come to the house on Friday August 22nd or Monday August 25th to give us an estimate, and that they would leave the estimate in the mailbox. I was home those days and they never showed up. So my husband called again and left a voice mail explaining that no one showed up and to see when they could come out. They never called back and never showed up any other time. Very disappointing - certainly not the "A" company that so many others seem to have dealt with.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

Tree Service

If a tree on your property requires a professional tree-removal service, use the following factors to help estimate how much you should expect to pay before workers start revving up their chainsaws.

Angie's Answers

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Tree Service reviews in Sterling

It went without a hitch. The owner accompanied his crew, who worked in tandem with each other. It was a large tree and there was a shed and fence they had to work around. It went very smoothly. No problems.

It went great! The appointment was scheduled for 8am. They called the day before and let us know they would have to push it back too around 9:15, which was not a problem. They came prepared and were ready to go right away. We walked through to make sure they knew what trees were being removed/trimmed/etc. The guys worked very quickly and very professionally. We are very satisfied with their work!
The only 'gripe' I would have is that they did not remove all of the wood chips on the lawn. There were large patches of wood chips throughout (not just where a tree was cut). But for the price? Not a problem, and absolutely worth it.

Provider started the job on October 2, 2014 and supposedly finished on October 5, 2014. During these four days the crew left my house twice to work on two other yards in the neighborhood and this may have been why it took four days. When they were starting on the stumps, Mr. H***** came and asked for his payment, eventhough contract said no payment due until completion of job. I figured since they had hauled away most of the debris and had started on the stumps it would be ok to go ahead and pay. Boy was I wrong. They left my house on the 5th and left huge piles of stump grindings in the back yard. When my husband questioned why the grindings were left, he was told that when it rained, the grindings would fill in the holes left by the stump. But on 10/7/2014 my husband went out to try to remove some of the piles of grindings and found that they had only ground 1/2 the stump of the oak tree and had covered it up. We have not moved any of the grindings from the two pine trees, but we hope they did finish those. I called the provider from my cell phone several times and left a message. When I did not get a return call, I used my home phone to call and did not leave a message. This was a number he was not familiar with. He immediately called me back. I asked if he was aware that his crew had not completed the job. He informed me that he was and it was because the motor in the grinder had stopped and he was in the process of getting it repaired and would come back out to complete the stump as well as remove some of the grindings. That was over a week ago and I have not heard from him since, needless to say I will not be holding my breath waiting for him to return. The previous reviewer quoted a price of $2000 to do 9 large trees, I understand inflation, but I would expect at least the same if not better quality of work with the price I paid. However, it appears that the cost of removal increased but the quality of this providers service has definitely decreased. Now I will have to get another service provider to finisht the job I have already paid someone else to do. I have other trees that I need cut down, but I definitely will not be using

again and I would not refer him to anyone else. If after reading this you still decide to use them, please make sure you do not pay them one brown penny until the job is absolutely completed.

gave us a written estimate that was about $400 less than others we received. His crew arrived about two weeks after the estimate was provided. They came at about 8:20 am and had the entire job finished by about 10:40 am. They felled the tree, put its limbs through a chipper, sawed and removed the tree

the highest possible rating and will hire him again if necessary.

They initally removed some ivy. They also did some trimming of branches. After that we decided to have them take down the tree. They grounded down the stump 18 inches and re-mulched the area. They were really professional and work with you. He seems to have the customer's best interest in mind. It was really excellent. He was supposed to be done last week, but his equipment wasn't working properly. He stayed in contact with us the entire time about rescheduling. If you need some lawn work done with your best interest in mind he is the person to go with.
- Harvey B.

I was not at home when they came to do the service but when I came home everything looked great! The wooded area looked freshened and clean. Everything was cleaned up very well and it looked as though no one had even been in the yard to do all that work.
