Basement Waterproofing Reviews in Skokie

I explained to the person who came that I didn't want the most expensive solution because I just didn't have the budget for the most expensive solution. I wanted to her what options there may be for me to evaluate to make an informed decision. He explained to me that there was only one option which involved a number of things that I felt pretty confident I didn't need. I listened as to why it was only one option and he did answer my questions but I just didn't feel right about it. This isn't my first repair rodeo.
After I received the estimate, i said I was "on the fence" about a portion of it tied to what made me uncertain. He wrote back immediately and he said that he understood I was on the fence but that my village is not and that my village is right. In other words, he just told a potential customer that she was wrong. It was very insulting. As a marketing consultant, I tell my clients that you NEVER imply your customer is wrong when he/she is 100% wrong. Rather, you coach so that he/she arrives at the conclusion by him/herself.
It was such a downer after the pleasant interaction with
that I just deleted the email and elected to go with another provider.

He told me what my options were and I decided to wait to see if I had anymore water. I would definitely hire them if I choose to go ahead with any work.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in Skokie

We contacted PermaSeal for a quote on flood control system for sewer line in June after sewage backed up through the basement floor drain and flooded our finished basement for a 2nd time in 2 months. We were impressed with their knowledge and the price was competitive, so we signed the contract and paid the deposit for the work to be done in October. We realized this was a long time to wait, but their commitment to customer service and quality of work swayed us, so we put up with it. Unfortunately, as soon as they had our money and contract, the customer service abruptly ended. Our consultant never responds to our emails and voicemails unless several days have passed and several attempts have been made, and even then he rarely answer our questions.
we've had scheduling issues from the very beginning: when they first came out in August to film the sewer line in order to determine the exact location for the work, we were told by office staff that the appointment would be done in either the AM or PM, which was ideal for arranging our personal work schedules. However, the actual appointment time we were given was 11-2, which could not be changed and necessitated me taking a whole day off for a 45 minute appointment. Then, when the actual installation was done in October, we confirmed that the indoor electrical work would be done on a specific day, but they could not provide us with a timeframe, so I again took the whole day off. The electrician did not show up til 5:10 pm, looked around a bit (while reeking of smoke and bringing these cancerous fumes inside our house), and concluded that he would need to come back another day because the work would take a few hours. After several calls and emails to multiple people at PermaSeal, we were miraculously able to get on the schedule 1st thing in the morning 2 days later, but even so, this required me to take an additional 1/2 day of work off in addition to the whole day I wasted waiting for the electrician to show.
Currently we're dealing with another scheduling issue: the installation required the removal of two concrete sections of our front walkway, and when we were told this back in August, we elected to have PermaSeal replace them as part of the work rather than find a 3rd party to come in and pour 2 sections of sidewalk, which would be nearly impossible for such a small job. The foreman for the crew in October said that the ground/backfill would need about a month to settle post-excavation before new concrete could be laid - ok, that made sense. Of course, neither our consultant nor anyone else on staff was proactive about scheduling this work, and when a month had passed, we called to inquire when the sidewalk would be replaced and we found out that it had not been scheduled. The earliest date available is December 21: more than 5 weeks away, in the middle of cold winter when quality concrete work really cannot be done in below-freezing temps, and just to add to the frustration, we have out-of-state family members arriving that day for the holidays. Simply unacceptable!
PermaSeal's a) lack of accountability, especially with regards to scheduling, and b) complete lack of response or care from their consultants have left us extremely dissatisfied. We just want this work to be 100% completed and have the frustration behind us!
Several of our neighbors have had flood control systems installed over the past few months by other companies, and not only was the work 100% completed in a much shorter timeframe, but they were all completely satisfied with the entire customer experience, which is a lot more than we can say about our experience with PermaSeal. If given the

to do it again, we would avoid PermaSeal at all costs.
For the record, we have no problems to report from the actual work done so far, although we'll see what happens in the spring when the heavy thaws and rains return. The workers that came to do the sewer line scoping in August and the actual excavation and installation in October were all very polite and professional, with the exception of the aforementioned smoky electrician.

They were fabulous. He was on time and called before they came. They answered all of my questions, and they were very professional and courteous. Their prices were just slightly higher than the other company we saw, so we decided not to go with them. However, we would certainly consider them in the future.

I expected a 2-day project. I insisted that

obtain all required permits. Scheduled start date was 9/8. Called on 9/8 and was told that start date was moved to 9/16. Vault floor and valves replaced on 9/16. I reminded

about village permit requirements. Village inspector came on 9/22. Called

again to find out when work would be completed. Electrician replaced electrical outlet on 9/30. Called

once more to find out when plumbing would be completed and was told it would be during the week of 10/6. Three weeks after the date originally promised, the work is still not complete. Note that all the personnel performing the work were friendly, neat and competent.

We had a major flood in our (dirt) crawlspace. They came out for an estimate, worked with us on the price and were able to schedule the job for a few days later. On that day they showed up exactly on time, but once they started to work, they were able to identify a plumbing problem that the plumber hadn't seen, so the job was stopped until we could get the plumber back to fix that part of the problem. They came back the next day and finished the work. Throughout the job the crew was courteous, respectful of our property and really seemed to enjoy working with each other. Best of all, we had major rains about a month later - our neighbors up and down the street had problems with flooding but our crawlspace was completely dry!

was easygoing and very kind, coming out on a Saturday to give us an estimate. He understood that we were a bit frantic about it, and spoke calmly about the problem, noting that it was easy to address and would cost $350. He is a very good person and we look forward to working with him.

They are always professional and honest. Both times we've had them out, they suggested we not have work done but do it ourselves. They gave us step by step instructions on how to do the work. I will definitely continue to call them in the future.

The price was half as much as my other estimate. The foreman came out the same day I called & gave an estimate. He told me a guy would come out the next day to do the job at 8 AM & the guy came on time.

We have a split level house where 1/2 of it takes up our crawl space after several weeks of cleaning it out I discovered we had a problem lots of cracks in the concrete and some in the foundation and many dead mice. I went to Angie's list and looked up crawl spaces and liked the quality of reports that this company had. They came and fixed the foundation cracks, put a mesh wiring up around perimeter of C-space and blew in installation which will help w/heating&air bill. They also made sure everything was sealed around my living room space so that no air would be seeping through. They were very professional and really knew what they were doing. Definitely use them again to put installation in our attic this fall.
