Schaumburg Dryer Duct Services Reviews
I'm glad I went with
They took all grill off and brushed them. We were unsure if they was a needed maintenance. I was reassured as I hear the trash/ junk in the vacuum tube. They also clean the chimney and clean dryer vent. The owner went on the roof and did the chimney sweep. When he came down he told us the chimney cap had blown off and we would need a new one. He recommended Menards and even went back up to get the measurements for us.
Upon leaving I asked him how often should we get the vent cleaned. He said it should be about 5-6 years. This made me even more confident int he work. The thought that some companies tell you that it should be done every year seemed excessive.
A couple minor complaints that I had was that I was told by down from the ceiling. When Rich the serviceman arrived to perform the work, he indicated that it was not necessary to take the vents down from the ceiling and did not clean each individual vent. It was a somewhat frustrating waste of time for me to go and unscrew and remove every single vent from the ceiling.
Additionally, a hole was cut in the main duct in my furnace room to vacuum and clean out the ducts. This may be part of the process, but I would have liked to known ahead of time that this "damage" was going to be done to my air duct. It was patched up and sealed, however, I just don't like having to make a decision on the spot on whether to proceed with the work based on procedures which I'm not aware of ahead of time. For first time customers, this may or may not be a big deal.
I think for the amount they charged, the service probably matched the price. I'm not sure if I would do the air duct cleaning again if all it entails is using a high powered vacuum to suck some dust out of the vents when a majority of the dust was in the main return which I could easily clean myself by removing the vent cover and sticking a normal household vacuum in there.
Lastly, be prepared for some upselling during the visit. They tried to sell me a "permanent" air filter for $140 which I was not interested in. Also, the dryer vent cleaning charge normally is $100, but I negotiated it down to $50. Other companies may do it for free in addition to the air duct cleaning since they're already there.
I think the service I received from this company served its purpose. In the future, though, I may just consider using someone else and seeing if I get a more favorable experience.
