"There were some initial problems. The access to our crawl spaces was too small to get full sheets of insulation in, so the workmen had to cut them into smaller" pieces. With our permission, the men had already installed the heavy encapsulation sheet on the walls, but then they put the pieces of insulation over the top. None of us realized that it wouldn't look very good because it had to be pieced. We told
we weren't happy, and he bent over backwards to make it right. He ended up installing another
of encapsulation over the top of the insulation, which made it visually nice looking. His attitude throughout was superb - he wanted us to be satisfied. And we are very pleased with the result.

"I called
of
a couple of months ago because I was worried about water in my basement. We agreed to do the work in" the spring, but moved the date up because of the large amount of snow this February. He called me to let me know that he was working for another customer in
on Sat, Feb 28th and wondered if he might stop by on the day and installed my sump pump also. Since he had several workmen with him, he was able to do the work in only 1 hour and half. It usually takes twice as long. He suggested lining the pump barrel with stones and leaving the top open so that water could filter down through the stones and into the barrel instead of only through the opening at the top. He also supplied me with a length of flexible hose to extend the exterior pipe so that water would drain well away from the house. Mr.
was professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The work was well done and they even cleaned up afterwards. The price was less than others for the same work. I have already recommended him to my neighbor who came by to ask about having the work done. He spoke with Mr.
and inspected the work to his satisfaction.

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Potential home buyers hired FSM to come to the home and inspect a basement of a home they had put an offer on. FSM came out, verbally found nothing wrong with the previous repairs except for slight residual bowing from previous problem since has been resolved and no evidence of moisture/water. They of course can not certify another companies work but they can draw up a proposal for a lifetime guarantee to fix the "phantom" problem for the cheap cost of $25,000.00. The future home buyers got bamboozled out of an inspection fee for a sales pitch! FSM should be ashamed and refund the money. If they can not write a written inspection report stating a problem than they should not take someones money.

The sales person we were working with was fantastic. He gave us all the info we needed and left lots of info for us to study to understand the system that he was recommending and way he thought this would solve our water problem of 9 years.
The office called and confirmed out date a few days out and repeated the info that our sales person had given us to prepare the basement for them to work on.
The crew arrived right on time. They spent the first part of the morning protecting the rest of the area from the dust the process would produce and covering our floors. They worked hard all day and finished the first stage right on time. They returned the next day (right on time) and finished the job. Since the work that they have done, we have not had one drop of water in the basement. I wish we would of found them YEARS ago!
They were a great value and were so nice to deal with.

Christian, the owner, was the contact point man all the way through the job. He is courteous, professional and attentive.
He clearly explained the details of the job, including the materials to be used, from beginning to end. He and his team were punctual and completed the job on time. There were some issues that they ran into as they began the work, and Christian called immediately to apprise us of the problem and how they would proceed. The job was neatly done and everything was cleaned up after them. I called Christian with questions before, during and after the job, and every time, he graciously spent time with me addressing every concern or question.
We were impressed by Christian's concern for the welfare of his workers. The original day the job was scheduled turned out to be one of the days that the temps were around zero and wind chill was below zero. Christian called me to ask if we could reschedule because he wanted to avoid having his men going in and out of the cold all day in their shirtsleeves, Of course we agreed. It's nice to see someone treat their employees with respect!
So overall, it was a great experience to work with

We called

and they had an estimator,

, come out to review our property within a few days, even though they were overwhelmed with calls. The price quoted was fair and either in-line with or below the other three estimates we received. The scope of work ensured we would never have an issue again.

The work was scheduled for late Feb. 2015 but we were able to move it up a week due to other people cancelling, which was easy to schedule with

All in all, a great experience and I'd highly

We had had a seeping leak in our basement. We originally hired a competitor of theirs, who did a horrific job that damaged our home and caused water to pour into the basement every time it rained! Access basements came over and saw what we had. They did a very professional job from day one to correct the damage caused by the other company and install the new system properly and to code. They went above and beyond, and we are very grateful for their wonderful service and excellent work ethic!

Our
Peoria Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was completed in May, 2014 and I've waited far too long to write this review, waiting for a "monsoon" rain to truly test out the waterproofing. That finally happened, and after years of living with minor seepage which ultimately became standing water, there was not one drop of water anywhere in the living area of the basement. The installation works exactly as it is designed.
On the 1st day of the installation, the crew of 3 or 4 men worked quickly and professionally. Everything was done by hand, from jackhammering a trench around the entire interior perimeter of the basement, to hauling every bit of debris out and every bit of concrete in by hand in buckets. The entire job was completed in approximately 11 hours over 2 days.
We were very impressed with their work ethic and the thorough way the job was completed.
If there was anything that was not completely satisfactory, it's that the drain pipe to the outside was not laid closer to the wall as my husband expected. However, because that wall was being studded out and drywalled, we didn't report it to the company as it did not pose a problem as we remodeled the basement.
In addition, their price was half of one of their competitor's price, but the primary reason we chose them was they way their salesman negotiated the job. He spent quite a while explaining the job and describing what he thought was the best way the job should be handled at the lowest cost. Finally, this company provides a lifetime, transferable warranty.
So far, we are completely satisfied and would recommend this company to anyone looking to have their basement waterproofed.
