Park Ridge Wood Flooring Experts Reviews

"Everything was excellent. We had to do the job in phases and the guys worked it out very well.

We had a very worn and abused hardwood floor in our 70 year old house that they refinished better than new.

furniture had the proper protective pads so they don't scratch the floor.

I would highly recommend them.

"Absolutely the worst craftsmanship I have ever experienced. That’s saying something since I have over 30 years experience repairing appliances and doing home repairs. Where do I start? He showed up late dressed like a gang-banger, didn’t bring the proper tools and had to leave multiple times to get the tools. But the worst part is the fact that he destroyed my 10 year old floor by improperly sanding it. He created a deep trench or

around the entire perimeter of the room because he does not know how to use an

sander. He blamed that on the type of floor we have!! And the finish was so bad it needed to be re-done because 90% of the floor was a semi-gloss and 10% was a high-gloss. He also left a footprint, air bubbles and debris under the finish and very visible brush

throughout. He also spilled sealer on our porcelain tile floor which he said he could not remove and he got stain on our white baseboard. Again, blaming it on something other than his lack of experience. When he came out to re-finish the floor the second time, I him told the “trench” at one wall was so bad it needed to be fixed before he re-finished the floor. He said he would fix it by hand scraping it but made it dramatically worse. He blamed that on the fact that the baseboard shoe wasn’t removed. Now the entire floor needed to be refinished a 3rd time and I have to replace the shoe and baseboard. Since I had lost all confidence in his ability to do the job and before proceeding with a 3rd repair, I asked him to stop by so I could show him what I believe needed to be done. I had sanded the badly damaged section myself so he could see exactly what needed to be done to eliminate the trench he created. He agreed and came back two days later. However, upon his arrival for the 3rd repair, he shows up with a drum sander to re-sand the entire floor. I refused to let him do that since that would take yet another

of wood off a floor that can only be sanded 2 or 3 times. This would have substantially depleted the life of the floor by many years. This was not what we had agreed to two days earlier. At that point, I gave him several opportunities to either fix it to my satisfaction, or refund half the cost (which I think was being generous). He insisted he could fix it and with my help, sanded the entire perimeter. This did, in fact, eliminated about 90% of the damage he caused with the

sander. But when we were done for the day, he informed me that what we had just finished doing would not work and that he should have let me have someone else fix it. And now he is refusing any more repairs and he will not refund our money. We gave him multiple opportunities to repair the damage he did to our floor. Never once did he take responsibility for any of his mistakes. In fact, at one point he said it was a good ‘test” for him. He kept assuring us he could fix it, but only made things worse. Why did I use him in the first place and why did I give him so many chances to make it right? He’s a young guy who talked the talk and seemed very sincere. I wanted to give him a

and that was my biggest mistake. Had he been honest from the beginning and admitted he couldn’t fix it, we could have had a “professional” out to fix his work. However, he kept assuring us over and over that he could do the work, he would fix the problems and that he would make it right.

and his helper did the work personally. They moved all furniture with extreme care. They did the complete first floor the first week and when complete, they installed pads on the bottom of every piece of furniture, including chair legs, etc. They re-installed all furniture very efficiently and to our satisfaction. During the second week,

and his helper refinished all the rooms on the second floor in two phases to allow for the movement and re-installation of furniture.

The equipment used really was essentially dust free, with tubes running to the outside to sealed containers. Each day they cleaned up, vacumed and made sure we were satisfied before they left.

" We bought a house in late April, the floors were the first thing we wanted done as we ripped up the old carpet. We had three estimates and
Park Ridge Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
ended up being the middle in terms of price. They weren't much cheaper than the highest estimate but the lowest estimate/contractor just didn't sit right with us. The owner of
Park Ridge Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was the man that gave us the estimate and he is very personable and did explain things that neither of the other two contractors did and he had the most options to choose from.
The job was estimated at three days. It barely took a day and a half. Unfortunately, part of this was because the crew didn't remove the "shoe" which is the strip of wood at the bottom of the base board from any of the bedrooms. We had originally asked to be taken off so we could paint it and refasten onto the baseboard and so the floors could be refinished from wall to wall. The next thing they said they were going to do and never did was fill in the small holes in the wood left from the nails and staples from the carpet that used to be there. A lot of holes were filled in but many others were not. When we called they said they would send someone out the next day. They came and filled a few more holes in but far from them all. Finally, I called the owner and asked what why they hadn't filled in all the holes as we discussed and he said that the holes were too small to fill in. The holes were no smaller than the ones they already filled in, so this just seemed like an excuse. He came and surveyed the situation and filled in some of the holes and said he had to leave and that he didn't know when he'd be back to finish. He ended up never coming back, but someone camer back to drop off the final bill in our mailbox.
I had hoped that the initial error of not removing the shoe would have made him be a little more dilligent with the rest of the job, but it was get it done quick, get the check and get out. Really disappointed after seeing the positive reviews of the others, but I have to think if you simply want your existing floors redone these guys are good, if you're redoing a wood floor that's been under carpet, call someone else.
"Very polite and patient, worked very hard and late to acomodate my schedule. Worked with me to ensure the stain color was right. Unfortunately, small bubbles appeared when finished and floors required buffing and another coat of polyurethane. Floors turned out beautiful."
"I received four quotes base on the square footage to be refinished.
Park Ridge Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
quote blew the competition away $650 vs. $1000+. They were punctual, friendly and the floors look amazing. They did a great job."
"Two of Mr. Podos' workmen came at the appointed time. They were very polite and kind, and willingly moved two twin beds from the upper bedroom of our split-level home down to the living room. My husband and I are elderly and could not move them by ourselves. They sanded, stained, and finished the floor with three coats of
Park Ridge Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
varnish, perfectly matching the existing floors. The new varnish was indistinguishable from the adjacent floors and there was no sign of overlapping edges. There is one problem, however -- the sanding. Unfortunately, the floor was somewhat grooved with the sanding, leaving a gentle rolling effect. It looks all right in that most of the floor will be covered with furniture. I am sorry to report the sanding problem because our dealings with them were exceptionally positive. I would rate them B for the work because of the floor grooving, but A+ in every other way."
"Besides a slight misunderstanding on the start date that was resolved quickly, everything went fine. The bulk of the work was done by a sub-contractor who was very thorough and professional.
Park Ridge Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
's crew did the tear out and installed the baseboard and shoe. The result is an excellent looking red oak floor."
"The quality of his work is incredibly high. I'll have him back to do some more work. He is going to refinish some wood floors, remove wallpaper, do some painting, and install another section of wood floors. He's pretty informative. He is extremely knowledgeable about his work. He is a really nice guy. You can get a contractor who is really shady, but that isn't this guy. He's really concerned about doing a quality job."
