Wanted 2 T-8 fixtures installed. A good finish would require carpentry.
would install them if I insisted but recommended alternatives. Provided guidance as to best way to proceed. He would have rescheduled but I already had a ceiling fan/light I needed installed to replace existing fixture. Work completed in the 2 hours alloted. Ddemonstrated operation and explained how the fixture was installed. Work area left clean.

We hired
with the $349 "electrician for the day" deal. He initially contacted us right away and while it took a little while to get schedule this was OK with us, and expected for these kind of prepaid deals. We gave him a list, in order of priority, of tasks to accomplish and told him that if we only got to the first couple on the list that would be fine, we wanted to stay within the rate we had already paid for. He did complete the first two items on that list satisfactorily. However, that was after first starting one of the low priority taks which eventually
to us losing the functionality of our entryway light. This lower priority task was correcting improperly set up three-way light switches controlling two lights, one in the entryway at the bottom of the stairs and one at the top of the stairs. The lights worked, but the three-way switches weren't set up correctly, so this was a low-priority repair. After working on this for an hour or two, he put it on hold and completed the two higher priority items. However, when he returned to these switches it was clear that this task was much bigger than could be completed in the time we had agreed upon. We asked him to please just put things back as they were found but this was apparently no longer a possibility. We tried to reiterate that we didn't want this work to be extended but we felt we needed to have these lights back in order. He stayed a couple hours late trying to figure out what all the wires were that were connected to these two light fixtures/switches. After taking several lights down and disassembling all the wires, he claimed that severely faulty wiring in the house made it impossible for him to reassemble it. Yes, it's a 100-year old house, but it was hard to swallow because clearly those lights had been functioning for several years (most likely decades) prior. We would like to give
the benefit of the doubt that it was indeed a safety issue. He is a nice guy overall. But we feel he should have immediately recognized the uncertainty of the task and not proceeded with it as per our instructions. Instead, we're left with something that's much worse than when he began.

After telling us he'd be able to put things back together in "days, not weeks", it took over SIX WEEKS to reach an ending point. He said he had scheduling conflicts indicating he is routinely taking on much more work than he has time to complete. Let this be a lesson to Angie's List customers about buying prepaid deals from this man or ANY vendor without first confirming that they have room in their schedule to complete the work.

And what is that ending point exactly? Well, a light that worked perfectly well has now been permanently removed. He claimed it could not be put back together at all, so he put a cap over it, closed up the ceiling and the switches, and left. We now have no ceiling light in the entryway of our house. We were charged $200 for the additional labor (at a discounted rate) to restore the light upstairs on a properly functioning three-way switch. And we will still need to get a second opinion on how to restore functionaly to the entryway light fixture.

I think
is well suited to other forms of electrical work, but would NOT recommend hiring him for anything that involves exposing the ancient wiring of a 100-year-old house. I have read other reviews that indicate very similar outcomes for other customers under similar circumstances. This is not his strong suit.

I would also recommend against buying prepaid Angie's List deals from any vendor. Many customers report similarly negative experiences with these prepaid deals. Ultimately it'll cost you more money than just negotiating a price for services.

Everything went as smooth as possible, the whole job was done in approximately 60-70 minutes, and I was very happy with the way everything turned out. The owner was super friendly as was the technician. I needed the job done ASAP as I was moving, and they were more than willing to accommodate me. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

I met with a number of other electrical contractors and received a few quotes. I do not shop around for the lowest quote but rather the best person for the best price.
From our first meeting with
Oak Park Electricians Provider Name Locked
Fragola, I had a hunch he would be the best person for the job. He was thorough and honest about a number of items as he walked through the construction/remodel. Truly, he was the most thorough. He requested to come and visit the site one more time prior to starting work. His quote was very clear and detailed. He was and has been extremely responsive to all emails and calls.
The day of the job:

and

arrived early, right when they said they would. The temperature that day was about 10°F (not a peep about the temperature and they were outside the entire time... refreshing). They went straight to work. They were very efficient and professional throughout the entire process. The final product looks amazing - the conduit runs, the attention to detail (Yes, I know its electrical items), everything. Once done, they completely cleaned all of their work areas.
Oak Park Electricians Provider Name Locked
walked me through the work performed and gave me additional recommendations/suggestions. His background and experience is impressive - which shines through in the level of knowledge and his ability to explain things.
If I have any future electrical needs, I would confidently work with

again.

has come out to my house twice and done great work both times. The first time I asked him to dig into the ceiling of my old bungalow and see if a painted-over light fixture could still work, and he got it to work without us having to spend money on a new electrical box. We are so happy to have a light in that room now! We had him over again to change several more light fixtures and update all our old electrical outlets. I would recommend him and definitely hire him again.

I scheduled this big deal two hour electrical package and paid for it about a month ago, ref. no. 1008297-1. It was promised within the 11-3 window today,

electric, who contacted their men in the field and said they should be here between 1:30 and 2. It is now 4:25 and nobody has shown up and the company office closed at 3!!! while Angie's list has such a backup of calls that I left a voicemail.
I expect a full refund ($99, I believe) and regret that our experience with Angie's list will reflect today's inconvenience. We will find another contractor ourselves.
Sincerely,

During the deep freeze and foot of snow, Bill came out the day after I called him. My furnace died and I have some burst water pipes. I shut off the main electrical beaker after noticing a broken wire spark at the water meter. Bill took care of the wire. He also checked the electric at the breaker box and made sure I will have sufficient power for my sump pump. He explains what he does and always answers my questions in language I can understand. He takes the time to offer any insight he may have. He didn't try to sell me anything, unlike the furnace guy. He called me back a few hours after I called him, unlike the plumber who still hasn't called. Bill has worked on my 115 year old house in the past and I am always happy with the process and the result.
