Basement Waterproofing Reviews in Northbrook

In August 2011 I noticed that the leak they fixed had redeveloped. I called their phone numbers repeatedly and did not receive any response. I also e-mailed them. I managed to get one phone call answered by a female who said she would have someone schedule a service call and call me back. I never heard from her again, nor were subsequent calls answered.

Obviously they do not intend to honor their warranty, and they should not be listed as a reliable contractor.

They made this job an easy one for me. I called and we were able to arrange for them to come out for an estimate in a couple of days around my work schedule. He explained everything that needed to be done. They were able to return to do the project in a week after I returned from a trip. They were professional, clean and easy to deal with.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in Northbrook

The workers arrived on time, but had to wait on two others, that were about 1/2 hour late, due to flat tire. The workers that arrived on time came in and looked things over and explained to me what they would do. When the work began they were very pleasant and professional, covering the flooring from the front door to the basement. I checked on them several times, and they were very pleasant explaining to me where they were in the process and what had been done. Never once did I feel I was intruding on their work. The concrete truck that delivered the concrete to fill the

arrived and they had a tube from the truck in through the window in the

area delivering the concrete. I was asked where I wanted the venting of the collection pit/sump pump to go. They did not just put it where they wanted.

Excellent service. The person who came to make the estimate explained the process very clearly. The workman did an excellent job. Showed up on time and was very polite. we've had several intense rainstorms since the work was done, and haven't seen a drop of water in the basement. I don't know how much it cost because the townhouse association paid the bill.

I used Basement Waterproofing Solutions/
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
.com in the fall of 2011 after we had had a flood and the lower level was down to the studs. They filled some foundational cracks for me. They came with a folder with a paper in it quoting Angie's List: Super Service Award
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
every year since 2003!
I last used
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
.com in May of 2012 to install a battery back-up sump pump.
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
did the installation and everything went as planned. I did a yearly inspection in the spring of this year and couldn't get the pump to shut off. I called
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, my original salesperson, and he came to look at it. The float was stuck. He "unstuck" it and didn't charge me anything.
Fast forward to
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
24 of this year. I was hoping to reroute the water from the drain in my sunken backyard patio out the back instead of into the street where it currently goes.
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
said no problem, it was legal and he would have a crew out in a week. He quoted me a cost of $1000.00 and I gave him a deposit of $600.00. At that time he said that they could work around the air conditioner and the work would not impact it.
That night when I was in class trying to take a final exam he texted me five times asking if he could come the next day, the final text reading: "I am going to go ahead tomorrow since it's an outside job. I hope that's okay".
I got a text from
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
on Thurs
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
25 at 6:50am saying "We will be starting at 9-9:30 because I'm getting material . . ." I was anxious to get the job done before I left on vacation on Aug 9 so I said okay, but told
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
that I couldn't be there because I had an appt that morning.
As I was finishing up my appt I got a phone call from
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
. The back yard neighbor had come over to see what all the digging was about. The conversation continued at the Village Hall.
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came back early afternoon and said that we couldn't go with the original plan of laying underground pipes, but he could put in a sump pump and pump the water out
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
. I gave him a check for an addt'l $400 to cover the cost of the pump.
Then later in the day he texted and said that he needed money for an electrical fee for the Village, so I wrote him a check for $243.00. I think that it was this trip that he mentioned that he had bought the company.
That's the last I have seen of him.
His voice mail box is always full despite a voice message that says he will return your call promptly. I texted him several times to ask what the status of the discussion with the Village was. He texted me a couple of times promising to call, but never did.
We had an email exchange on Aug 6th in which I suggested that he figure out the cost of the labor, I would spot him the electrical fee, and he would return the difference and fill up the hole and replace the rainbarrel. I got a text back that said: "I agree with your email. If I don't have a resolution by tomorrow I should backfill and refund your money until we do..."
Another text on Aug 7th: "Yesterday I agreed to return the money and fill the hole before you leave on vacation on Friday-"
Finally, on Aug 8, I called the guy at the Village to see what the status of the project was, since
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, by that time had quit responding to me. The guy at the Village said basically, "you can't

underground pipes. We allow 5' foot gutter extensions beyond the foundation"
When we were leaving on Aug 9th I went to turn on the air conditioner and the fan didn't turn on. I texted
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and asked him to have a look at the air conditioner when he came to backfill the hole.
I got back from vacation today, Aug 19th. There is no check in the mail and the hole has not been filled. My air conditioner is still not working. I called (no answer) and emailed
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
this morning (no response). I am now in the position of having to get a plumber to okay that the original configuration is back in place (I have asked
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
that several times and he has not answered), the lawn service to back fill the hole and the HVAC company to fix the air conditioner. And I have received nothing for my $1200 except a large hole in my back yard.

Disaster. They canceled the first appointment 1 day before they were scheduled to do the work. They cancelled the second, rescheduled appointment 10 minutes before they were supposed to arrive. The appointment was rescheduled for the third time for Noon on Saturday, and the workmen showed up at 9 a.m.. This was a bit awkward as I had house guests who were still sleeping. The workers that came to do the job, were very professional and went straight to work. I believe they tried very hard to do a good job. I have no issue with the guys on site. Unfortunately when he sold me the service
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
failed to let me know that they would not be replacing the cover on my window wells; all of which had locked covers. I was unhappy that I was not informed of this. I called
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
around 10:30 a.m. He got back to me around 3:00 in the afternoon.
As it turned out, one window well couldn't be cleaned because the window wouldn't open. I was told that they could clean the window well if I didn't mind them breaking the window. Well there's a choice for you. In the end, one window well was replaced without the cover, two were "cleaned" and two window panes were cracked. I would also like to point out that when they say they will clean the window well, they do not mean the window only the well. Kind of pointless to clean the window well if you can't see out of the window. Cost to clean one window well was $50. I thought I made it clear what I was looking for when I signed on the bottom line, but clearly communication was a mess all the way around.
To their credit, Reliable sent me a check for $100 towards the cost of the window well cover (total cost $216.00) to make things better.

To start with, this company was hard to contact and schedule an appointment with. They do not seem to work well under the stress of many people needing basement help following a flood. I overlooked their poor attitude on the phone given how I am sure it is difficult dealing with numerous phone calls and people being irritated at not having their calls returned.
When the person from the company came out, I was very disappointed. He was borderline rude. I got the distinct impression that my concerns and situation would not generate a bill large enough to be worth their time. He told me I probably have a crack somewhere and that there was nothing he could do to help me. I forget how long he told me I would have to wait to have someone come out, if they were to help me. He wouldn't give me his business card and did not provide any information on crack repair, advise on how to carefully try to find a crack or cracks without tearing down all my dry wall or anything. It was a complete waste of my time making an appointment with this company.

The service was performed day after I placed the call.
Northbrook Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the tech who showed up. He was friendly, took care to cover his work boots so he wouldn't soil the floors. Did the work quickly and effectively. While it is expensive service, it is certainly worth it as the basement remains dry ever since.
