Business Description: Dr. Jonathan Buka did a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Chicago/Michael Reese Hospital. He studied advanced training in refractive surgery with a leading world expert, Dr. Charles Casebeer. Previous to that, he did an internship in general medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, after attending medical school at the University of Cincinnati. He did his undergraduate training at Tulane University in New Orleans, La. Dr. Buka specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK and following patients with diabetes and glaucoma. Dr. Buka is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. He is currently on staff at Christ Hospital, Hinsdale Hospital, Hinsdale Surgical Center, Tinley Woods Surgery Center and Munster IN Community Hospital. Dr. Buka is married with four children ranging from 8 years to 21 years. He enjoys spending time with his family and all their activities: football, tennis, soccer and cheerleading. He likes the outdoors, camping, skiing and riding horses. He also enjoys watching the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Bears and Cincinnati Bengals. Dr. Buka practices at The Eye Specialists Center, a multi-doctor, full-service ophthalmology practice serving both children and adults, with four locations in Chicagoland (Chicago Ridge, Orland Park, Hinsdale) and Northwest Indiana (Munster). Patient appointments are available from Monday to Saturday, including evening and same-day visits. The Eye Specialists Center is the evolution of the practice started in 1957 by Karl E. Ticho, MD and has grown to include three additional partners: (Dr. Karl’s son) Benjamin H. Ticho, MD, Jonathan Buka, MD and Alexander J. Khammar, MD. They are all board-certified ophthalmologists, sometimes known as "Eye MDs". The practice also includes several other ocular specialists (with expertise in neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, vitreoretinal disease, and pediatric optometry), and has an in-house optical department for patients’ convenience. The doctors at The Eye Specialists Center strive not only to provide the highest quality eye care in an ethical, efficient and compassionate manner, but to remain at the forefront of their profession. The doctors serve as physician leaders in their field by teaching at medical / optometric schools and academic hospitals, volunteering in the public service programs of their professional associations, and educating the general public through lectures.
