Remodeling Reviews in Aurora

I did not end up hiring them for cost reasons only. They provided several references from other home owners who have used them. They did arrive on time for the estimate and provided it via email within a couple of weeks.
my job was very detailed so the time delay was probably warranted.

was on time, and courteous. He looked at the project and told me honestly that he would not be comfortable taking the job do to the age of the house. (Built in 1916)
Believe me, you don't want someone who can't handle the specific challenges of older homes working on your peice of architectural history!
I was impressed by his honesty, and we have an exterior that we need to do after the bathroom remodel that we'll gladly let
bid on.

The distruction of the old bath took a couple of days. They were very quiet and kept the house clean during the demolition. The rough in of the closet and shower took about 3 days. The tile in the shower and bathroom floor took about 3 days. The tile work was excellent. We had to wait for the glass doors to be fabricated after the shower was complete. We are extremely happy and satisfied with

's work. We would certainly recommend him but I think he is near retirement.

I am very pleased with the work

did in both bathrooms. For the second bath,
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
removed the tub, knocked down the walls, put in new walls, whirlpool tub, hardware, and did a great job with the tiles we provided to him. The master bath was a smaller job which only required retiling. I am very happy with the tile job for this bath as well. I appreciate

's humor and willingness to go the extra mile. I will be using

again in the future.

Updates were made to the guest bathroom and total remodel of the Master bathroom. Working with
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked

, and
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
made the process so easy, it was amazing. They explained the process from start to finish and answered any questions along the way. When I could not find what I was looking for in recessed medicine cabinets for the master, they were able to work with me and had what I wanted made for me. They look awesome and match the vanity perfectly!

helped me find granite counters for both bathrooms that save $$$. They cleaned up after themselves each day..... you would not have known they had done anything until you looked. They made my vision come true in creating the relaxing comfortable space I wanted!! I will be calling them again for the next project and would highly recommend them.

the owner contacted me and gave me the estimate. I liked the thorough manner in which he explained what his company would do. He looked over the project very carefully before he bid on it. He was not the lowest bid but it was still a very reasonable one and I believed that he would do the best job. He mentioned his experience and I researched his reviews on Angie's list and they were all positive. The job because of the nature of it took several days and each day he cleaned up the area very carefully and hand wiped my floor tile to remove any snow/mud tracks he had caused. I liked that as I have white tile. He has a very friendly demeanor and is quite likeable. It was a joy having him in my home and I would certainly use him again if the need arose. He called back the next day to make sure there were no leaks etc.

It was awesome. We met with
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and he got to know us, our lifestyle and what we were dreaming to do. He walked through the house and he came up with creative ideas, many we would NEVER have come up with ourselves. He warned us that the things we were most apprechensive about would probably be our favorite things, and he was right! He has a great vision. I also like his honesty. If he thinks one of our ideas would look hideous or wouldn't fit with the overall plan, he let us know it. He would also tell us if what we were thinking wasn't worth the money ( from his experience). He's not a "yes" man... he just tells it like it is. I think this is one of the qualities and benefits that set Design First apart from other companies. It puts them on an entirely different level.
After we decided upon the overall vision, we worked with
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and she helped us with the details of the design. What could have been an overwhelming process, she helped guide us while still letting our vision come through. Our project manager,
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, was the BEST! I can't imagine getting though a remodeling project without him. If something comes up, he was just a phone call away and fixed any problem. Were there delays? Here and there. Of course! When you are dealing with a project this big, that happens with whoever you hire. Nothing big and no big deal. What I love about Design First is that they truely care about quality. If something wasn't up to their expectations, they would do it again, or fix it until it was... even if it came out of THIER pocket. I like their integrity.
Bottom line, you will find design/remodeling firms out there that are cheaper. I can tell you from experience, Design First is the way to go. They are honest, creative, and will give you something even better than you dreamed
p.s. Design First worked on a few other houses in the neighborhood, and each one is better than the next. I especially love what they did to a friends master bath. I have no idea how
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
dreamed up the unique layout... I'm saving my pennies so he can do something special to mine!

Salesperson is wife of installer and while very pleasant has little technical knowledge. We wanted epoxy grout; especially for the shower. Is it more expensive? Yes, the material costs increase. In our case it was about $250 because we choose a pebble shower floor and wall niche.

Is it harder to work with? Not for a professional installer. Installers need to work faster because of the epoxy set up time which requires at least two helpers... This is why I wanted to hire a professional. I used it in a powder room without any issued but didn't feel comfortable with the master bath.
Why epoxy? Because it's bullet proof, no staining and REALLY easy to keep clean. If you are considering a large glass door or steam shower you had better pick epoxy or you will be sorry. Downside for epoxy? None.
Quite frankly, their bid of $8,692 for a 8'3" X 7'2" bath and a shower stall was extremely high. Remember, this was for the regular grout. Note, their price didn't include the tile. It did include the shower door and heated floor. The shower door allowance was for $850.
We ended up selecting a different contractor that works for a flooring store. They are expert epoxy installers who by the way didn't charge any extra labor for the epoxy. The price ended up being lower but I don't shop merely on price. I want top pf the line materials and workmanship-- otherwise I could do it myself.

The contractor offers a 5 year warranty while the store we selected provides a Lifetime Warranty. Of course, it makes a difference that the store we selected has been in business for almost 70 years. We choose a top of the line shower door with clear shield for $1,013 from a separate company.

Allow me to join the “
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
is Great” bandwagon. He came out to take a look at my hall bathroom (full) within a week of me calling him. On that visit, I outlined what I wanted and he committed to sending me an estimate within a week; I received it promptly. I emailed several questions to ensure that there would be no surprises after the contract was signed, and he answered them all.

saved me from myself twice on this project. Save #1 was when I added the tub replacement into the project at his suggestion. My old tub was pretty much an eyesore, but I was going to live with it and he suggested that I revisit that decision given the effort on the rest of the bathroom. Save #2 was when I opted for the same tile for the floor and the wall, which I thought would be a good design decision given the uniqueness of the tile…only not so much. After being nudged in another direction, I stuck with the “special” tile for the floor and went with a more conventional wall tile. There was no pressure from
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
either time; just suggestions based on his 30-years of experience. That experience, in my opinion, is safe to be relied on. Prettiest. Bathroom. Ever. And at the right price.

Long story short,
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
demo’d the bathroom including removing the existing tub, floor and wall tile, vanity, medicine cabinet, mirror, towel bars, etc.), repaired
Aurora Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
damage with the plywood and pipe under the toilet as well as patching the walls, installed the new vanity, back- and side-splash, mirror, towel bar, tub, faucets (shower and sink), wall and floor tile and all the other things required to do those correctly like underlayment, etc. He recommended a painter who was responsive and reasonable. He cleaned up after himself; bonus points for that. He contacted me daily throughout the process to let me know his progress. I purchased some materials on my own and at the end of the job, he simply struck the line item/cost associated with those items, as agreed in advance. After visiting HD to check out the tub he'd written into the contract, I elected to upgrade from that one, but that was due to personal preference. He started the job when he said he would, and ended it as expected.
For the record, he’s a man of integrity. After careful consideration, I trusted him with a key to my house which allowed me to work as normal. I could have made another decision, but I was comfortable with him and he proved worthy of my trust. In 2013, that’s saying something. I'll have my master bath renovated in the spring and there's only one person I'll call. His work is truly amazing.
