"
inspected our whole crawl space and reported its condition comprehensively. His measurements turned out to be very accurate. Although he seemed to have a good" bit of work, he got to our job within the time he had projected.
is very personable and knowledgeable, and was able to give me excellent advice on crawl space and drainage issues that I didn't know about. His team has been together for a number of years. They completed all the work in one day. They laid out everything from under the house, and took away all the junk we didn't want to keep. His foreman crawled under the house with me to help me see all that had been done and answer my questions. They even gave me disposable coveralls to use in crawling under the house.

"The estimate visits went very well. I had the estimator come out twice because we decided that we would like to price out some other services. The estimator was prompt, mannerly and" professional. He explained the details of what would be done in a logical fashion and didn't appear to try to upswell products/services. I will provide an update once the work is completed.

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

I had
Athens Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
& Basement Waterproofing previously work and repair my roof, and needed work done to repair a couple leaks that had developed over the 20+ years. I had them come out and provide a quote, and a general timeline for the work that needed to be done. Original timeline provided was 3-4 days from start to completion, needless to say I was very impressed and overjoyed when what was supposed to be Day 1 started and they said they would only need 3-4 hours and then the entire project would be done. After completion of the work the exterior of the house lining where the cracks used to be looked as good as new.

I was literally Scared to death for this to take place, the financial part was the ultimate fear, after that was met, then I was afraid my house would collapse once they started. My crew lead, was so reassuring and so amazing. They showed up that morning, calling approximately 30 mins prior to arrival. Crew lead came in talked to me, asked where the best spot to set up, if they had permission to take the driveway etc. Put up a plastic

between basement door way and kitchen area, to cut down on the dust. Put down a floor protector, between my back door and basement door way, to protect my flooring, even though I said it wasn't necessary. They closed the upstairs basement door, when working in the basement. I just cannot believe how amazing they were. Polite, courteous, kind, reassuring. Treating me with respect. The job only took 2 1/2 days, started on a Monday finished on Wednesday, early afternoon. They cleaned up several times throughout their day, sweeping, always picking up their ongoing garbage and scraps. Before they left, I was instructed on how to torque the wall beams, gave a lesson on the new sump pump, discussed the outside drainage now in place. Asked many times if I had any questions. I am very happy with my "new" basement, the amount of physical labor that this crew puts in, in a project is unbelievable. Hauling everything by hand,

up and down the steps, but always remaining pleasant towards myself and my family members. I am SO very happy I choose to go with CBS and would recommend them to anyone needing basement help ! ! THANK YOU CBS !

Cliff and his team are wonderful.
We had a little bit of trouble in the beginning when Cliff's computer failed and he was unable to get back to us as quickly as we'd hoped with a quote for the work. From the time we managed to schedule a second visit for him, to the completion of the work, everything went really smoothly.
Cliff is really passionate about what he does. I've had quotes from a handful of other basement waterproofers, (and also hired exterior drainage experts to help dry out our basement), but no one feels as credible as Cliff. He's not some sales guy who doesn't really know the issues. He meets you himself. He's got loads of experienced, and a degree in engineering. But most important, you really feel from start to finish like the thing that's the most important to Cliff is that you the customer feel well taken care of.
His wife

, who handles the scheduling and billing, is very nice and easy to work with. And his crew that actually did the work all were very professional, nice, easy to have around, cleaned up after themselves, and were patient in answering my many questions. I believe he has only a few crews, and many of the team have worked with Basements Unlimited for years.
I have no hesitation in recommending Basements Unlimited. I feel like we got really lucky when we finally brought them in.

I had the home up for sale and needed to get this addressed ASAP. I called to get an estimate and explained that the house was on the

Sump pump was not working.
Athens Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
responded quickly and replaced it. Previous pump was low quality. New one is better and works great. Crawl space had water in it due to old pump not working.
Athens Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
indicated the water would be removed by new pump and volunteered to come back in a couple of months to make sure. He did (for free) and everything is fine.

He also alerted me to evidence of an unrelated plumbing leak and I was able to get a plumber out in time to avoid serious damage to the sub-flooring above.
