"
and his team were very professional and I was most impressed that they were able to take up the flooring and reinstall without much damage" and salvaging the original material. They were on time and were meticulous with their work. Definitely will use in the future.

"Prompt estimate, good selection of engineered wood and tile, fair pricing. Didn't end up going with them due to limited selection of laminate styles, but in" retrospect wish I would have. Rep answered all my questions despite us being a walk in, arrived when promised to measure, and apologized for the quote taking a couple days.

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.

I agree with your choice - this is about the only product that can realistically, for a large room, be taken out and cleaned up after a flood and reused, thouhg carpet can be if you strip it into smaller pieces to carry wet, AND you have somewhere to wash and dry it - that is usually the problem. However, bear in mind it still has to be done within about 2 days or mildew/mold will grow on it, and may or may not be totally removeable. My personal preferences - mostly because their products are consistent, the joints stay snapped together, and they are not overly soft (a problem with cheap vinyls) are Pergo, Tarkett, Armstrong. Whatever you buy, be sure it can come back apart - some plank products are not made with a self-adhering contact glue in the joints that prevent you from taking it apart again, and some brands their snap design, while maybe better at preventing joint separation, cannot feasibly be unsnapped without tearing or breaking it off. Also, be sure whatever brandname and product line you choose it 100% vinyl (other than the urethane surface protective layer) - many vinyl floor products have paper or fiber cores or other water-absorbing components. Remember that, on concrete, since it wicks soil moisture through it, you till need a 6 mil vapor barrier under the flooring and positively sealed all around the edges to avoid the risk of mold growing on the underside of the vinyl.

Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Very satisfied with both the quality and installation of the tile. Laminate quality was acceptable given the price point, and installation was fine, but the underlayment installed was not what was discussed during the purchase process-they installed the cheapest possible product rather than what was presented. I will note that underlayment was not specified in the contract, so there's not a legal issue here, just a bait and switch on the part of the owner.
Our major issue was timing-job was given to
Grimes Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
based on specific timing, which they agreed to meet. When the time came to start the job, however, they acted as if the discussion had never happened, and that they were doing us a favor by starting the job a week after the promised completion date. I understand things happen, but the denial and complete lack of concern made it clear that this was their normal mode of doing business.
This timing meant that rather then installing in an empty house, the crew had to contend with furniture and appliances, which resulted in damage to furniture and paint-I don't blame the crew here, I'm sure they did their best under the circumstances.
In summary, quality products, good installers, but an owner who is willing to over promise and under deliver with no remorse. Avoid if you can, and if not make sure to get everything in writing.

made a thorough investigation of the warped area where an upstairs shower had leaked down the pipe. He was quite good about explaining what should be replaced and what was optional. Where appropriate, he sent me pictures to confirm what he was telling me.
The old vinyl was all removed, the subflooring replaced, new vinyl installed and new quarter round added, to finish the look. He removed all the appliances before commencing and replaced them when finished. It looks really wonderful, and I am impressed with the quality of product that was installed.
The carpet "oops" was where we had placed a bucket of paint, not realizing it had a crack in the bottom. 2 days later, we had a lovely circle of white, which couldn't be cleaned out. Thankfully we had extra from the original install, and
Grimes Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
made the seams disappear. Really. I know where it is and I have to look hard to find it. Bravo for a job well done.

We found this contractor using Angie's list and called to schedule an appointment. Within 30 minutes, he was at our home and gave an estimate. He returned the following day and did the work in a timely manner using the utmost quality in craftsmanship and keeping the project area clean. He took off his shoes at our front door as to not leave footprints on our new floors.
He did the work in about 3 hours including calking various areas of one of our bathrooms. He also sealed a shower door using silicone sealant. Prior to arriving he communicated via text to confirm the time and also answered some questions I had before the process started.
I highly recommend using this contractor. Great work, punctual, easily accessible and cost of service was exactly as anticipated given the task at hand. A+ contractor.

Their first attempt was so poor that they agreed to try again until we were completely satisfied. The second attempt was a little better, but not by much. There were gaps on multiple stairs. Multiple risers were different heights. When we asked them to repair the steps that still were incorrect, they immediately walked out on the job and said they wouldn't do anymore work. They also talked negatively with vulgar language about us throughout the project. When the owner arrived, he refused to help in any manner and was the most unprofessional of them all. Now, they still claim we owe them the remaining balance for the job even though they quit.

The huge Memorial Day storm caused a leak in the roof that let in rain water which damaged drywall and ruined the hardwood floors on most of the 2nd floor of our house. Danie - the owner of
Grimes Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
- worked closely with our insurance adjuster in making sure all this damage was repaired. The adjuster had assumed we had engineered wood flooring, but Danie determined they were more expensive 3/4" boards and ensured that we received a supplemental amount from the insurance company.
We had saved up several other jobs around the house that also needed to be done, so we combined those with the main repairs and Danie handled the whole process and he expertly managed the sequence of multiple tasks which took over a month to complete. Parts of the house not being worked on were protected, for example heavy duty paper was laid down on the stairs to minimize scuffing, plastic sheeting covered furniture, etc.
Materials were chosen to match or exceed the quality of those being replaced, and inferior ones rejected. In one example, the hardwood boards received from the yard were not what Danie ordered. Instead of taking the easy way out and using them anyway, he rejected the lot and had the correct wood delivered even though it caused a setback in the schedule of a few days.
Danie was on the job site every day and directly supervised his sub-contractors. He kept us informed every day of what had been completed and what was scheduled for the next day - we were very happy with his excellent communication.
The end result is excellent, and we would definitely use
Grimes Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
again in the future.

provided quotes for the selections we made.
Grimes Flooring Contractors Provider Name Locked
