Secondly, they list 24/7 support on their web site, but it just doesn't happen.
Once, I purchased a new modem late friday. They turned off my old modem, but forgot to start the new modem. By the time I realized what they had done, they were closed.
I tried email. I tried calling. No response. Never. Not even after they opened the following week. I finally called them about noon on Monday since they weren't getting back to me. I even said something about it only to get the impression that they don't check the Support phone calls or emails other than occasionally (as in not for days).
This was just one of several similar experiences.
Just two months ago they said they were sending someone out to my residence to check my service. No one ever showed up.
Also, checking the speed of the service, I never have had the full speed they advertise. Two months ago I purchased a new modem from them which was supposed to help. While it is less likely to drop the connection, the speed still isn't what they advertise.
I then upgraded to a faster service. The service is $11 more per month. I only had the faster service for less than 1/4th of the month (7 of 31 days) that first month. So, you would think the additional charge would be a little less than 1/4th of the additional $11. No, they charged an extra $10.38. I complained. They adjusted the charges, but still overcharged.
Bought a new house last month. I went with a different AFN provider, not AshlandHomeNet.
Same internet service. $5.00 per month less.
The technician who installed the system showed up an hour late and he was on the cell phone about 90% of the time. It took him two hours to complete the installation and when I finally told him he was taking too long as I had other appointments and he then finished in five minutes. The customer service representative on the phone was very unprofessional and unhelpful, and furthermore lied to me saying that the charge is "just how it is" with the charge for both phone and internet.”
Under no circumstances allow them to schedule "contractors". The contractors are little more than cable stringers and have no knowledge of the internal operations and checks within TWC. Twice, once for internet service, once for TV cable service the contractor failed to complete registration of the equipment. The contractors seem to have little understanding or capability to test functionality and completeness of their job. They might be "saving" TWC money, but they are doing it by taking your time as a customer.
Their internal processes leave much to be desired. Registering a new cable modem? don't bother with the "online" process, you might as well call directly because that's where you will end up.
Availability? Accountability? Those concepts are unknown to TWC. Consider for a few minutes how much you will pay over a year.
What is clear is that Century Link does not have the line and amplifier capacity to service our neighborhood, where the average home is 2500 square feet and each house probably 2 or 3 computers.
So tomorrow I am going to start looking for another internet service, where we are not tied into a 1 or 2 year contract which we can't drop if the service is as terrible as Century Link.
When AT&T came out to install our new service on 24 January we were told that
