"These guys were the best. The painters arrived on the date and the time previously arranged ready to work and worked for approximately 4 days. They involved me" in everything they did and asked questions if they were unsure of anything. They were polite, professional and did an excellent job. They replaced any light switch plates, door knobs, etc. they took off to painted the area, vacuumed and swept up after themselves and THEY EVEN WASHED THE WINDOWS while they had the mullions out of the windows. Now that is what an excellent, professional painter does and I would highly recommend using them to anyone. Our Association will be using them again when we do the exterior painting of the club house. Why wouldn't I? They are GREAT!!

-roberta C.

is friendly and serious. He immediately started working and was done within 25 minutes. He asked for $75. which I thought was too much and" he would only go down to $70. We should have set the price in advance.

should painting or florring come first in a remodeling project (Photo by member Jane A. of Alpharetta, Ga.)

Remodeling tip: Should painting or flooring come first?

Angie Hicks responds to a member who wants to know whether interior painting should come before or after the installation of hardwood flooring.

Utilizing the proper tools can ensure the best paint job possible.

Interior Painting

Professional decorators say painting is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to dramatically change the look of a room. It's also one of the more accessible do-it-yourself projects for the homeowner, though a professional interior painting company will likely do a better and more long-lasting job.

Before you toss it, check the label. Some hazardous items — even batteries and ink cartridges — should be disposed safely, which doesn't mean at the curb! Why?

Painting - Interior

Have you ever had a leaky roof leave a water stain on your ceiling? Has your home settled over the years and you are starting to see stress fractures and nail heads popping out of the drywall?

These are the most common problems with ceilings, and unless they are addressed, they can be quite an eyesore. If you are ready to tackle the project yourself, follow these simple tips and you will have a freshly painted ceiling in no time.

Angie's Answers

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!
Yes - absolutely!  Refinishing is THE VERY BEST way to go to avoid tearing out a perfectly good bathtub that just LOOKS bad after years of use.  Go to the link below for some before and after refinishing pictures of acrylic tubs.

Interior Painting reviews in Clive

Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
was amazing to work with! He showed up on time for the estimate he provided and when he did the actual work. He was professional, responsive, to e-mail/phone calls, and easy to work with from start to finish. The painting
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
did in our home was well beyond our expectations and was completed in record time! He was very quiet and neat while working, which was very nice because we have little ones. We will definitely use
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
in the future and will recommend him to all our family/friends!
- Thomas M.

I originally contacted
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
back in August for a quote to pained my home. Of the multiple painters I brought out,
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
was the most professional, punctual, and on point with the delivery of the quotation.
I received multiple quotes for the work to be done. While certainly not the least expensive, I was so impressed with the level of customer service and support I received through the estimate process, I hired the firm to do the work.
The team showed up on time and began the work immediately. I had opted to purchase all of the paint myself, but the estimate had included all the labor and materials.
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
fairly removed the cost of the paint from the estimate balance.
The work they completed was absolutely gorgeous. I am so pleased with the work they performed; I will most definitely use them again when we move forward with painting the other rooms in the house.
i would highly recommend this firm to anyone.
- Margaret M.

The painters were very trustworthy and careful. We chose some darker saturated colors, requiring careful application. They also touched up damaged areas of painted woodwork.
- Linda P.

They were professional and courteous enough, but the end result wasn't quite as good as I was hoping for. There are a few pretty obvious drip
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
on some of the cabinet fronts and there is paint that I will need to scrape off on one of the glass fronts, one of the ovens and on the brand new cooktop. I'm a little resentful that I am now needing to spend time fixing these mistakes. I have painted a lot of furniture over the years and feel like I could have done just as good as a job.

Earlier in 2014 I used
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
to install some wallpaper in a guest bedroom. I was very pleased with the professionalism of
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
, the estimator, and the wallpaper installer who completed the job. The wallpaper came out beautifully and I had to do minimal clean-up after he finished. I also felt satisfied with the value I received for the price I paid.
I was not as satisfied with the second and most recent project I gave to
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and the painters were professional and punctual. They treated my home with respect and created minimal disruption. The wallpaper installed in the closet and the bathroom ceiling came out beautifully. However, the quality of certain aspects of the job left quite a bit to be desired. I expected a greater improvement in the condition of the baseboard trim for the amount I paid. To be honest, I couldn't tell if all of the trim had in fact been sanded and painted. I also would've appreciated the leftover paint or the name of the trim color. I should have followed up with my concerns earlier, but I was quite bogged down in other aspects of the renovation at the time.

Requested an estimate through Angie's List link. Marysol responded very quickly and set up a date and time for
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
(owner/designer) to drop by. I had already developed a preliminary design and when
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and Marysol came by we went over that design and walked the area to be worked.
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
suggested some wonderful modifications to my design without changing what I was trying to accomplish, just enhancing it. He did not try to f**** changes on to me (as some others had) but simply wanted to help me reach the design that I was looking for. They went away and came back (as scheduled) with preliminary designs and an estimate. In the meanwhile I obtained other bids and proposals.
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
's proposal was neither the most expensive nor the least expensive however I felt his was exactly what I was trying to accomplish and we signed a contract to continue. His crew showed up as scheduled and were a delight to work with. Everyday they were on time, worked agressively and always cleaned up the work site before going home for the day. It was an extensive job that took almost four weeks of work to accomplish. I was involved all along the way and we made minor changes to the original design as we went along. Each of these were actually enhancements and yet no additional costs were incurred. The stone work skills of the crew were just amazing and I could not be happier with the final result. We installed several tiered garden beds, flagstone walkways, stairs, patio, and even put a flagstone cover on the existing cement walkway and steps to the front . The attention to little details (curves, stone color, mortar coloring, etc) was outstanding as were their efforts to ensure I was pleased. When it came time for the plants to be selected,
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and Marysol worked with my wife to get the look, colors and types that she wanted. Our original contract called for a certain number of plants and they actually provided more than that, again, at no additional costs.
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
just passed on some pricing opportunites that he had encountered instead of keeping the benefit to himself. My neighbors were so impressed, not just with the finished job but also the process, that several are in negotiations with
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
to do work for them (one just had their job finished). I could not more highly reccomend this team.
- Raymond H.

Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
did an amazing job! Even though they did a lot of work, they managed to do it in just 3.5 days! This included:
1) Pressure washing the exterior. This was challenging because some sections of the wall had deep mold on them, but they managed to get them all cleaned up. I also had a wall that had many
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
from the root of a climbing plant that went deep into the stucco that they managed to clean off too.
2) They filled out all the holes and cracks using caulking and elastomeric paint. This includes some long settlement cracks and holes I made in the stucco when we boarded up the house years ago.
3) They sprayed a sealer on all the stucco walls.
4) They painted the soffits and made them look like new. My house have a vaulted ceiling, so it gets high in the middle. They were still able to do a good job with the soffits in the high areas.
5) They painted the body of the house. First they sprayed the paint and then they rolled it. This gave it a beautiful look. The back porch was also painted at this stage.
6) They painted the trim in another color that I selected.
7) They painted the garage door and the exterior of the main entry door.
8) They even repainted the house metal numbers and a badly peeling intercom terminal!
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
's attention to details is incredible. For example, they dug a small trench around the house to take the paint lower than soil level! They also painted one of the AC duct pipes with the house body color to make it blend in! They even painted the sensor lights on the exterior of the house with white color to make them look like new! The exterior main entry door got not one but two hand paintings with a brush which created a beautiful look that I have not seen before!
Another amazing thing is the professionalism of the team.
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and teammate showed up exactly on the date he scheduled about a month earlier! I got plenty of notice via text messaging. Every day he would start very early (they were there by 8 AM). On the day he picked up the paint, he was at the hardware store around 6:30 AM and worked until about 6 PM!
I am thankful I found
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
on Angie's List. I strongly recommend him for your next paining job. Just make sure to get in touch with him early as he tends to be booked weeks in advance. It is well-worth the wait.
- Man N.

It went great! They were professional and seemed to really know what they were doing. I liked that they took my concerns about lead paint seriously. The paint was badly peeling and flaking so they did have to do some scraping to be able to paint over it.
They tested the paint before they began work, and took precautions to minimize lead dust and debris. I did still follow up with my own
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
-filtered shop-vac after they left, but I was planning on that all along.
I love that this company has a handyman division. The handyman who repaired our door frame and reinstalled the screen door was very capable and worked fast. They scheduled it perfectly so that he was done with the door by the time the painters were ready to paint it.
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
came out for the estimate, we had just moved in and had a list of things to repair around the house. He took time to talk about different projects and gave very helpful advice. He was very candid about what his company could do, and what kind of contractors we should call for other projects, and suggested ways to save money. I called
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
a couple of months later for a project at my grandmother's house, and again
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
came and was very helpful and took time to talk about the project, even though he realized pretty quickly it wasn't a project his company could do. He made referrals for us and even followed up after the fact. It was cool to see how he cares about his customers and getting projects done right. I'll definitely call
Clive Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
when we need painters or handymen in the future.
