"
was excellent. The crew was very, very neat, quick and efficient. One vary large oak was against a screened in porch (the footprint and roof of the porch went" around the tree) and the crew fell the tree without so much as a scratch to the house or roof. They cleaned up everything and even hauled away rotting wood from an old woodpile. Very professional; very courteous. We highly recommend them.

"Estimate was done in a very timely manner with good explainations of what was to be done. Work was scheduled a few weeks later and we knew going in that it was going to be a few weeks" before they could get to us as there had been a lot of rain and things were backed up. Getting the entire job done took several days due to the crew being pulled off for an emergency. All in all not a bad experience even though we had to wait to get the job completed.

"I can't put into words how very pleased I was by the time the
crew completed this job. I, first, noticed this crew, at work, a few months ago when my neighbors" hired
to trim their trees. I was very impressed by that Company so, when I decided to get my trees trimmed, I asked my neighbor to give me their phone number. I was TWICE as pleased to find that
Service was on "Angies List" and, after reading their great reviews, I immediately called to make an appointment with
, the owner. I'm an 82-year old widow who has learned a lot about home-maintenance since my Husband passed away!! I now live on a fixed income so those maintenance costs have to fit my budget! The first time I spoke with
, by phone, I told him about that budget and he said, "I will guarantee that I will give you an estimate that will fit your budget." I laughed and said, "We'll see---I have a big property and a LOT of trees that need trimming"! When
came to my home, we walked my property and discussed what I felt needed to be done.
was very attentive and I noticed he was jotting down things, on paper, as we walked. When
gave me his estimate, he had separated the costs into three sections and had calculated the cost for each of those sections. I immediately realized he was giving me an option to meet my budget by scheduling the cost for each section separately. I thought that was VERY considerate of him; however, the TOTAL cost was the exact amount I had already determined as the maximum amount I could afford to pay for the ENTIRE estimated work! Of course, it helped, too, to be an Angie's List member because
offers a 10% discount for members. With apologies,
told me that he had a very, heavy schedule and he'd have to call me when he determined the date he could, actually, do the job. He presumed it would be a few weeks and that was fine with me. A week or so later,
called and gave me a firm schedule date of October 10th. On that morning, he called me to tell me that his crew would be at my house in about 1/2 hour. They were and I've never seen workers go to work so quickly. They were efficient, methodical and the most polite crew I've ever encountered. Each of them, obviously, had a job to do and they began immediately--- it was non-stop.
arrived shortly after his nine crew members did but, already, they had accomplished a great deal of work.
not only directed the crew to each of the specific sections of the property that we had discussed but he also went to work with the crew!! The job was orchestrated---a
, a trimmer, a blower, a
, a limb carrier, a wood-chipper--- and each crew member was directed! They were here, there and everywhere, without pausing and, magically, it was all finished! In fact, this was a HUGE job and every bit of work that
promised me would be done WAS done and it was completed in a little more than two hours. I was AMAZED by that and, when they left my property, it was "spic and span"!!! I was in awe at the achievement and I would RECOMMEND this company with a GOLD STAR A PLUS!
and his crew certainly do DELIVER and, what I think, is at a very, reasonable price. The only problem I found with
is that he's VERY BUSY! When
gave me that estimate, he warned me that he couldn't start the work right away due to his previous commitments. To me, that was a GOOD sign---I figured he must be good if he's THAT busy. I waited three weeks but it was well worth it. Time is not important---EXCELLENCE IS and
IS just that!

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Excellent service and very professional.

came to my door. I am initially distrusting of anyone who comes to my door. But after talking with him in less than a minute, I could tell he had a legitimate and bonded business. We were is desperate need of someone to trim our palm trees, but we thought they were too tall for anyone to deal with. We were also worried about having a non-bonded person or company coming to do this job.

was very quick and they cleaned up all the mess that was made. I could not have been happier with the service they gave. I have recommended them to my friends. This is a great company.

Great Job! This company was extremely responsive- reasonable- on time exactly when they said they would be out. They called the day prior so I could schedule the dog to be out of the backyard. They cleaned up their mess and even trimmed shrubs/bushes away from my privacy fence so I could walk around it. I did not ask for this to be done, but they pitched in a little extra service. This was the 2nd time I have used this firm and I will continue to use their services. I would highly recommend

We first contacted
Brooklyn Tree Services Provider Name Locked
because of tree damage from the previous summer and winter. They provided an estimate for that work, as well as long-term care of our healthy trees. We selected the work we wanted them to perform, including removal of a tree, pruning several trees (and removing some damaged limbs), and installing cables to keep some trees from splitting. Their representative is extremely friendly and professional. He continues to contact us regularly about maintenance of our trees, and we appreciate doing business with this company.

arrived at the scheduled time and completed the job within 3 hours. They did a great job and cleaned up all debris. I would definitely use them again and have recommended them to neighbors but most of them had already noticed and have contacted them to have work done on their trees.

and his team collaborated well with us to obtain the results we wanted in terms of enhancing our view and protecting our home without over-pruning. They meticulously tidied up at the end of the day so that no debris was left in the loading area, which was much appreciated since we were borrowing our neighbors' driveway to make it easier to get stuff out. We would like to hire them again down the road, and in fact will be in touch with them in the Spring to discuss planting new trees and re-designing our back yard.

He and his crew did an excellent job. He is a true professional with all of the right equipment. They cleaned up all debris and hauled it off. They even raked the dirt where the trees had been. He is very busy though so the lead time was several weeks. You need to plan ahead. I highly recommend him.
