"A few weeks ago I started my quest to find a company to do some tree service for me. I called around about 10 people (whom I found on Angie's List) and out" of those, I was able to schedule about 5 estimate appointments. Of those I did not receive a quote from, I was told many things, a few said that they were booked out for as far as 2 months, even had one say I lived to far away (I live on North Side/Oceanway area and they lived in Mandarin - which is about the same distance from Atlantic Beach, where
is located). When I called
to come out for a quote they came out within a few days.
came out to Quote the service requested, he was very courteous, knowledgeable and professional, and he provided the best estimate of $1800. When I called them to schedule their service they actually had an opening within a few days. However, I wasn't available during that time so I scheduled the work for today. Today, they were very punctual and even arrived a few minutes earlier. The cost was reviewed prior to start of service work, and received 10% off for being an Angie List Client. Their service crew was very polite, and friendly. I asked for a few low branches on a different tree to get trimmed and they did it without hesitation. They did a fantastic job. After they completed the tree work, they cleaned all areas of their work, picked up all excess branches that feel during the removal process and blowing debris from all areas they performed work to, from the roof to the driveway and even blew off the leaves from my front porch. The whole crew asked us what we thought and were just overall a great group of people to conduct business with. I am absolutely and pleasantly pleased with the quality of their work and customer service. I have even referred them to two friends who are wanting some tree work done. Highly recommended!

"All of the workers were very professional. They each introduced themselves that morning and explained how long they thought it would take to complete the tree removal." At the end of the job the roof of our house and yard were thoroughly cleaned. No debris was left behind. The owner did not allow me to pay for the tree service until the work was complete and I was satisfied.

Hiring to Trim Trees? A How-to Guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Cut down and removed 80 ft maple tree. Tree limb had fallen off down the hill and on to a highway. The rest of the tree limbs were hanging over the house in

of falling and damaging my home. He came immediately to assess the situation and was here the next day. I was pleased how quickly they were done. It was a very complicated removal due to the height of the tree and the location next to a very busy road. I was extremely pleased with the whole operation.

An appointment was set to come back the following Monday to complete the work that needed to be done. After not seeing anyone all day, a staff member called and stated they recently fired a majority of their staff and were not going to be able to come out for another week. That was the last correspondence I had with them (it has been over a month). I have attempted to contact them to reschedule the trimming, but have not received a call back.

Provider was WONDERFUL and staff were artistic, competent, efficient, and patient with my 94 year old mom who had to go look at everything in progress. Arrived on the dot, got to it, spent most of the hot, humid day working carefully but steadily. Removed breakables from patio before beginning work. Put them back afterwards. Cleaned up all signs of work. I have never had such great tree service in 35 years of taking care of this home.

Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of service provided with the
Sandersville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
's, and I prefer to do business with a family-operated business. In late May I called the office and scheduled an appointment for Mr.
Sandersville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
to come to my home to look at the tree in question and to give me an estimate for its removal. Mr.
Sandersville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
came out on Tuesday, June 2 and arrived promptly when scheduled. He confirmed that the tree needed to be removed and also looked at several others that were still fine. He told me that his sister would be calling me the following week to schedule the work. He gave me a written estimate of $3,000 to remove the tree. I gave him a deposit of $100. I felt the cost was high, but after doing some research, I didn't feel I would save a great deal more and since their reviews were outstanding, I felt the cost was worth it for my peace of mind, as the tree was very close to the house and the electric lines. I realized that I forgot to give Mr.
Sandersville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
my $100 off coupon from Angie's List, so I called the office and spoke with his sister (I am sorry I forget her name), and she took the $100 off. On Friday, June 5, I noticed yellow spray paint and flags from the gas company showing where my gas line was located, so I assumed everything was proceeding. By Thursday, June 16 I still had not heard when my work would be scheduled. I called the office, and the sister told me that storms and heavy rains had created a lot of emergency work and that she was having trouble getting me on the schedule. She also said that the gas company had not yet been out to
Sandersville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
the line. I explained to her that they had indeed already been out and when. She told me she would have to look for their e-mail. By Tuesday, June 23, I still had no word as to when my work would be scheduled. I called again and again the sister said the storms and rain were causing difficulty in getting my work scheduled. I explained that I was tired of waiting. She said she would schedule the work for the next Tuesday, June 30, but that I would have to understand if we got cancelled due to rain or storms. I told her I did not understand because I was proactively trying to have my tree taken down before it fell down due to a storm. I strongly believe "emergency" work was taking precedence over my scheduled work. She said that her brother makes the call each morning whether they will work each day. They did come on June 30 and did an excellent job.
