"Purchased items at very popular local chain, and the company they recommend for installation seemed very pricey, so we found
on Angie's" List and WOW ... what a Great Find ... he's fantastic !!! He grew up in a family construction business so he has many years of experience in virtually all "handyman" chores including electrical, plumbing and much more! He arrived on time, was extremely courteous and professional in every respect and the work was completed on time, within the estimate range (actually a bit less than I expected), and we're Very Happy we found him. He'll be the ONE guy I'll always call first for any home maintenance or repair project ... and if it's something he doesn't do (can't imagine what that would be), he'll know who to recommend IF you're a previous customer of his.
... you Rock ... Thanks!

-Robert W.

was very easy to work with, he always returned my phone calls and messages promptly when we were scheduling the day for him to come and do" the work. Today he showed up on time and was very pleasant and went to work right away with the project I had, I had to go to work but my husband was here with him, he said he did the work in the time we had agreed upon and that the amount for the materials he had quoted was actually a little less than expected. When I got home I was very happy with the work the did replacing the wood on the bottom of the cabinet, he also left everything very clean all I have to do is a very light vacuuming inside the cabinet to get the fine dust so that I can put the new liner in the cabinets. My husband was very happy the work got done and he was not the one who did it!! Will definitely use him again in the future

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

COOL!!!  Someone who asks a question actually responds.  Rare.  Love it.  Let us know how things work out.

Guggenberg both communicated with me throughout the process from initial inquiry to delivery of services.
I received a quote via email based upon my written description enhanced by their questions. This saved me time in that it eliminated one trip to

Overall experience was very positive and quality of work was what I expect. Electricians are not cheap but in my experience with other trades

the owner came out to review my project. He was very professional and explained how he operates very well. I especially like that his workers are employees, not contractors. He sent me the estimate for the job sooner than he anticipated. I am still waiting for several other providers to provide estimates in order to make a final decision.

.This was a Big Deal...$349.00 for 10 hours of handyman work.

worked efficiently but for 5 hours instead of ten. He was reluctant to do more so I did not insist. Thus the rate was closer to $70.00 per hour.. He is starting out in business so he is inexperienced in deals and probably arranged for more than he could provide.

These guys were just wonderful. In one word - professional. Igor called the day before to confirm the appointment. They arrived before the appointed time. Once in the apartment I gave them the box and they went to work! Before they could get started, they had to move a piece of furniture so they could put the desk were i wanted it. I opted for the special - two guys for four hours, instead of 1 guy for eight. After two hours the desk was set up. I went into the room and notice
Sandersville Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
had removed their shoes! They didn't want to scratch the floor! Next they set up a Smart TV and Igor even programmed it so all I had to use was the cable remote. Next he attempted to add a computer to the set up on cable with the TV but I needed to order a part. Igor helped me order the part from Amazon. Once everything was completed, they cleaned up and helped take the boxes to the rubbish room. All in all I can't wait to have another project so I can hire them again! Thanks Igor and team!

Let me say first that I love my new bathroom! The project started way later then originally thought due to unforeseen circumstances on my part as well as J&Ms, and the project took weeks longer than estimated. The bathroom was old. They ended up having to take it down to the studs, and even replace some of those. Then the plumbing under the house had to be brought up to date just to make the bathroom plumbing work. I purchased the majority of the hardware and new products for the new bathroom, but they had to go to the hardware store many times for additional items they needed. I paid by the hour, including their shopping time as written in the contract. There were two technicians. The lead technician was very knowledgeable about remodeling bathrooms, but needed additional assistance on the plumbing. Luckily J&M had such a person employed so we didn't have to go with another company for that part. My choice was to refinish the tub rather than replace it at the recommendation of the owner of the company because it is a very solid cast iron tub. The refinishing should be done by an expert. The lead technician actually tried to do it himself, unsuccessfully, causing a lot of extra work and in the end we had to call another company to come and complete the job. I paid for all the labor for the J&M technicians doing and redoing the work, and J&M picked up the tab for the expert tub refinisher to come in. The second technician was not as familiar with bathroom remodels and took a lot of time being coached. I paid the same amount for each technician. It could be just me because I am a very detailed person, but they did not ask me my preference in some things such as the placement of towel bars and the toilet paper holder, and again that caused rework. Also because the project took much longer than anticipated, they rushed to finish at the end so they could get to their next scheduled job and had to come back at my request to clean up and fix some things they missed. All that being said - they did a really good job! And even though I am sure it was inconvenient for them, they made sure that I had a working toilet every night, an important detail for me because I only have the one bathroom. I contacted J&M in

(about a month following completion of the bathroom) because I liked it so much that I want to go on and upgrade some other areas of my house. But they were scheduled out through the end of the year, so I am going with another company I found on Angie's list.

It went well.

came out and gave me a fair time and materials estimate. I showed him what had to be done and he understood the task immediately. When I got home, the job was done when he promised it would be and it looked really good.
