"I have been more than satisfied with the service of all the vets and staff (technicians, receptionists, boarding) at
for the past three years." They have provided service for my pets from wellness/prevention to critical care and end of life needs. I find them to provide clear explanations of options (empowering me to decide) and this is done in a respectful and compassionate manner when those decisions are difficult. Needs have spanned dog bite to heart and kidney issues to ear infection and pancreatitis, and have included outpatient to hospitalization care. They have supported me in figuring out a nutritious home-cooked diet (vs canned) because I felt it was in the best interest of my dog with special needs. The boarding staff are caring and I know that if there is a question or concern they will phone me while I am away. (I had no worries leaving my dog with them when she was in a delicate post-hospitalization period and needed to be monitored for returned symptoms.) When my dogs are excited to ENTER the building when we are in the parking lot, and when they enthusiastically
boarding staff in the lobby, even when they are there for veterinary care, that tells me that they have good associations with
---and their opinion matters. I have recommended
services to friends and will continue to do so. When it counts, and when there have been crisis health needs, the veterinarians and staff have been there consistently for us. I would not dream of changing providers.

"We just moved to the area and had to visit an emergency clinic over the weekend with our cat. Needing a follow up visit with our regular vet, we chose
" based on the reviews, and we were not disappointed! Dr
was so personable and great with our cat, and she shared information about physical traits of our cat that no other vet had told us in 11 years! I know other reviews indicate Dr.
is wonderful, and I would recommend Dr
without hesitation. The vet tech and office personnel were exceptional, as well. It was a great first experience, and we are thankful to have found our vet.

Angie's Answers

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

Veterinarian reviews in Hephzibah

I needed to get vaccinations updated for my little dog and couldn't get an appointment quickly enough at her regular vet. I was able to get into
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
the next day. The vet and tech were both wonderful with my hyper, nervous dog. They provided lots of options, but didn't push me to get services I didn't want. I was very impressed with this place. I may switch to

The Dr. and staff were exactly what we were looking for. The atmosphere was not a rushed feeling to get to the next appt., the Dr. explained everything and asked if this is what we wanted to do and answered our questions. We felt like we did at our old Vet.....at home, nice and calm. Everything about this Dr. and staff was extremely professional and caring. Have recommended to family and friends.

Over the course of several months, my mouse
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
developed some health issues and I knew of no other exotic vet in the area. I heard great remarks about A&E, so that is where I was going. Dr. Leonatti (whom I have heard has moved on) was a good and caring vet. However I cannot say the same for Dr. Eckermann. Knowledgeable? Yes. But what happened in my experience is unacceptable.
I would like to say that looking back now, having much more experience in mouse care since then, things should have been handled much differently. Although Dr. Leonatti was an excellent vet and very open to trying new ideas to help
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
(she had chronic ocd scratching and had opened a hole in her back), I believe there was a point at which it is a vet's duty to say "I think we've done everything we can" and draw the line. As a distraught pet owner, it can be easy to grasp at
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
looking for "the" proper fix to an issue. Sometimes, it takes a professional, knowledgeable intervention to bring common sense into the picture. I currently use an excellent exotic vet that is amazing and will not hesitate to say "I think we've done everything, to no avail" - which is something I appreciate. I feel, looking back, that if I were in the same position again, I would have drawn the line on what extremes we would take with her - because in the end, she died and it was not peaceful. A&E is extremely expensive, and I get that being a vet is a business, but they are exorbitant, and I do feel that there was some degree of more services = more money. I don't know that it was a driving force, but I do feel strongly that it plays a part.
As part of
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's treatment, Dr. Leonatti had told me that she had excellent success treating

gliders with ocd scratching by giving a small

of haldol - which we tried on
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. It definitely began to work! But because it made her very sleepy, I believe at some point she slipped and injured herself, and became semi-paralyzed in the back end. She had great difficulty walking and went to dragging her back legs most of the time. She was on prednisolone, a steroid, for the skin issue, as well. I was on a strict schedule of care for her - round the clock - right down to carefully cleaning her up and opening seeds for her. She was beginning to take steps here and there, and I became very hopeful. Then on a visit to A&E, Dr. Leonatti was out of town and we had to see Dr. Eckermann. I have no doubt that she is very knowledgable, and I have heard that she is excellent with birds.
At this last visit that I ever made to this clinic, Dr. Eckermann put

on the pain medication Metacam. It is an excellent pain medication when properly used. However, and this is very, very important - it can cause gastric bleeding. As can prednisolone, and they should never be given together from what I have learned. I have spoken to numerous other vets, and human doctors, and the response I have always gotten when I mention the two meds being taken together is one of disbelief. There is always an obvious "oh no" look and often verbalized is that this is a no-no. Well, I'm no vet - and I had no idea - and
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
died within days. She was septic - and most likely from a GI bleed. She should have never been given the metacam on top of the pred.
I wrote Dr.
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
a letter, stating how I felt about this. As I see it, there are only two options of what happened.
A) She did not review
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's history well enough and put her on metacam unknowing that she was already on steroids. If this is the case, that is a serious lapse in due diligence and no excuse is good enough to cover not having reviewed her case prior to treatment.
B) She did review
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's file and knew full well that she was taking steroids and put her on metacam anyway - without discussing with me the dangers and potential side effects. I was not advised of what could happen, and was left out of the decision - it should be up to me to decide if I want to risk my pet's life for a medication.
Neither of these two options are acceptable, in my opinion. Whichever is the case, my
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
died, and just as she was starting to get better.
Dr. Eckermann did write me back and stated that she stood behind her decision to use Metacam - but still - one of the above two scenarios applies. If she stands behind the option that it could
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
my pet, shouldn't I be advised of this and allowed to make that decision?
I am sure that the way A&E views this experience is quite different than the way I do - after all, everything always has different viewpoints. But I will never, ever go back to A&E with my mice. I have an amazing exotic vet now, and A&E will never be my only option.
I would like to add that this may be an isolated incident, and that they may not have a lot of these types of things happen - I have no way of knowing. But it is an incident that needs to be known, and people can make their own decisions. I hear a lot of great things about A&E, it's just that it was not my experience.

very, very unhappy with services and over all care,
facility looks great and was told dogs would be in private small room for night shift, they would how ever play and be out doors for 6 times per day, I thought this would be most of day time hours. upon pick up the dogs were in fact all in small rooms from 10 am -630 pm un fed for day and with no water they were so upset, fur a mess and smelling like urine food was explained how to feed and they ate very little of provided dry and canned, each dog losing about 8 pounds in a 6 day period. treats for feeding with food and for at night were almost not touched one dog has skin infection and is on medications and topical treatments, cause from laying for long periods on hard floor and unclean enviroments

This vet clinic is absolutely the best! I've been bringing my cats here for the past 8 years. Never a problem and my cats are very comfortable with the doctors and staff. Every animal, cat, dog, etc. is special to these folks. Usually have vet appointments with Dr.
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, but have also seen Dr.
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and they are both fantastic.. very knowledgeable, professional, and always kind. Take time to explain and answer questions. The staff is really wonderful! Always find an appointment time and no delays in being seen. Fees are reasonable. Thank you
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and everyone on staff for your professional help and kindness. My 17 year old cat died last year and the entire staff was so caring and supportive through her illness and passing. They sent me a condolence card signed by everyone at the clinic!
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is like extended family. I can't say enough to thank them. They really deserve the five stars and a Super Service Award!

I do have a good vet. The price is too much. Everything is an A except for the people on the counter. There's a woman there who's just a beast. The vets are terrific. Everyone is terrific except for one who is very unfriendly. I've used them for over 30 years. They are very good.
- Jackie B.

Impeccable service. They are very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. The staff and veterinarian is personable, polite and professional as well. Their front office staff will care for injured or sick animals immediately. They are very honest about what the patients needs are and they will not suggest treatment that would not be helpful or needed for the animal. They only do emergency services so they are there 24/7. In my opinion, they are the best vets in the
Hephzibah Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
area. They have an extremely clean office environment. I can trust them the the empth degree with my animals. I beyond highly recommend their office.
- Carol J.

They had high prices, their staff and vets were not compassionate and didn't have any empathy. I felt very rushed. In my opinion, they were more interested in money than the animals. I would not trust them with my animals. I would not recommend them to anyone.
