"I had a dead bolt that needed to be replace in a condo that I rent. But the dead bolt was not completely installed by the former tenant. In addition, there was some" damage to the door. The tech was excellent, arrived earlier than the stated time and was very professional. He was quick in his work and cleaned up afterwards, which is important too. I only wished I had printed out the voucher because I was charged and I now have to make a copy and bring it to them for a reduction. I think that the consumer should be informed of bringing the voucher. I just assumed that they knew I purchased from Angie's and was in contact with them. The one thing I didn't understand was I was charged $75 for a service call. I didn't realize that was included in the cost. But I would certainly use them again and i plan on it. They did what the said they would and were very good at it.

"Yani answered the phone promptly when I called. I did not have an emergency lock out situation. I was surprised and thrilled that he was able to fit me in on that" same day, but it may be because he lives in the same area of town that I do. He gave me a general ballpark quote on the phone based on my description of the work. There were some unknowns because of parts or potential replacement needed. I understood that the final amount could vary a little. Yani said he would call when he was headed my way. He did call and gave me an arrival time. He arrived just a little early. I showed him all areas of concern and he got right to work. He was polite, efficient and thorough. He went through each lock with me after he finished repairs. The cost turned out to be exactly what he quoted. I really appreciate Yani's business ethic.

In addition to the roughly $100-200 for the lockset itself, I would expect from $50-100 range (depending on your local labor costs) by a locksmith, ASSUMING you get a lockset that uses the existing door and frame lockset holes - should only take about 15-30 minutes in that case. Could run into maybe $100 more for a carpenter or the locksmith to fill and glue the existing holes and then drill new ones if lock does not fit the existing (probably "standard" hole spacing and setback - or maybe $200-300 more for carpenter to put in entirely new striker side trim and paint to match if you don't like the looks of the filled holes.
I understand your concern - but locksmiths are criminal record vetted and bonded pretty well, so not a major risk there. Unless you bought the deadbolt and entry lockset as a boxed set - both keyed the same - it would be normal for him to rekey so they use the same key. People do not want to have to fumble with two different keys to get in, so he probably just did not think to ask if you wanted them the same. Is it also possible he was keying to match a back or garage door lock too so all your entry doors use the same key ? A large portion of their work is rekeying locks after change of tenants or owners, or changing out a worn out lockset, so that would be second nature to him to do it - I don't personally think you have a high risk from this, unless perhaps you live in a very upscale house and had a lot of valuables laying around that he could see while working. If that $66 million Van Gogh painting you bought yesterday was leaning against the entry wall waiting to be hung, then I might be a bit concerned - otherwise not.

Locksmith reviews in Evans

Very well.
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
and son came out to do the job the same day I had called for their service. They were punctual, courteous, and very professional. Got the job I needed done quickly with nearly no disruption to my day. Good to know they exist and will call them again for locksmithing needs.
- Charles O.

They were prompt courteous and able to fulfill our request within 24 hours. When they arrived to my residence they were very professional and arrived at the scheduled time. They did a great job even offering us extra keys! They were careful not to damage the doors as we got new locks and knobs, when they left they took extra time to ensure the door/floor were clean with no wood shavings or dirt left behind. Would highly recommend them!
- Nicole S.

Came out the day after calling them, did a fast, efficient and expert job re-keying all the doors, plus he fixed my pocket door that wouldn't open! Fantastic service, really nice people. Would definitely use them again.

My parents are recovering from Heart Transplant complications, losing a job, vision, comprehension and loss of four months rental income from a lousy tenant. we've owned and grew up in this house since 1983, the year after it was built. Once we all moved out the house stayed rented and we enjoyed tremendously good history with responsible tenants up until the most recent one. The house was my dad's responsibility. He found and approved tenants as well as maintained the upkeep. He is now 'homebound' on doctor's orders and struggling with relearning to read and comprehend words so my mom and I are scrounging to address any and all things he had open to minimize life post Heart Transplant. On the day the tenant finally texted that they were out and the keys were on the kitchen counter I called
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
for rekeying the 4 wood and 1 glass door. He said he could get there in an hour, then said he needed to first go to
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
and we agreed he would call me after so I could go back to work then meet him at the house at his convenience.
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
4:00 I had not heard anything so I called back. We agreed I would get the house unlocked for him that following morning but that I nor my mom could meet him as we both work full time. He worked on the locks and that evening, after work, my mom met his wife for the keys as she had to meet MLGW. She simply walked in and out the front door. The next day I tried the locks. The back door would not turn which also meant you were unable to access the locked glass door. The garage door wiggled from the deadbolt and also would not open. Each time I spoke with
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
it took a very long time for him to explain his work. The first time I spoke with him he was condescending as to what he needed to know going into a rental house, which I completely understand the questions; however using the
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
of assumption that I did not understand or was incapable of giving him the proper answers was inappropriate. The house was locked, alarm on and completely vacant. When I contacted him back to let him know the locks did not work, once again the call was lengthy trying to explain the work then finally he agreed to go back out. Sunday night at 9:30pm, and before he completed the work, his wife called to let me know they figured out how to take a Credit Card payment. I am a single mom with children and was asleep! When he returned our cousin was working on the toilets and let him in. While they both worked and made casual chit chat about the tenants who just moved out my cousin mentioned to him that when he was working on the yard while they were still living there that the husband would come out and start talking or that they pulled into the garage quickly and shut the door while he was outside working. Never did he say we thought they had come back and tried to break in or that the garage door stopped working. When I was told by
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
that I was being charged another $80 on top of the already $211 for the faulty work he explained an elaborate break in story about the tenants and even had a suspicion about my cousin that he or they came back to the house, broke the garage door then broke the inside garage door and deadbolt to which they also somehow broke the back door through a very heavy glass door and as they left their attempted robbery they carefully locked the very heavy glass door back, left nothing out of place and no alarm sounded. He stated the locks on the inside had come apart. To this I was also told he was a retired investigator and this is what happened. There was no admission that the original work was faulty nor an apology as to having to pay twice for the same work. I was very upset as my mom and I already had our hands full with an eviction, and multiple factors surrounding my dad's medical and financial complications. I was very clearly and logically explaining to him that his 'break in' story did not add up to which he and his wife kept saying he was there for three hours (to which he left and got materials) and missed out on other calls. That is part of running a business and scheduling appropriately, not to mention performing quality work the first time. I told him all issued keys and garage door openers were all returned by the tenants and either me, my mom or cousin had all been in and out of the house everyday since they left. They used the evening between when my mom was there (until 7pm) and I returned to the house the next day as the time frame for the 'break in' attempt. It did not matter the ridiculousness in his story nor any professionalism in his work to admit he may have performed faulty work the initial day. My exhaustion with the entire conversation
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
me to plead for them to allow a half payment that week and the other half the next. They were incorrigible and I had wasted 30 minutes on the phone while at work already so I paid the entire amount to be done with it. It makes me sick to see the money it took for locks to be rekeyed and the fabricated story to explain away faulty services. They took advantage and even gave my personal cell number out to a random woman who walked up to the house stating she could not get me on the listed For Sale sign number. This woman called me 5 times while at work and in meetings. Why would you give out a cell number like that without authorization and especially if your entire fabricated story is based on an attempted break in?! I will not ever call
Evans Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
and am disgusted at the nonchalance in making excuses for services paid.

tech) was very knowledgeable concerning the proper length for the deadbolt to have to be able to fully extend so that it will secure properly and not hang up the front door. He advised and corrected this problem as well as changing out a latch plate where a strike plate should have been placed on my door frame for the dead bolt. He was quite skillful in using a chisel to create enough proper space for the deadbolt to function without hanging up the door so it could not open properly. If someone had used a power drill to go deeper to provide additional depth for the deadbolt it would have gone through the narrow wood area that my door frame has due to the small windows on the right side of the door frame. It is amazing to me that when my current door handle set and dead bolt were installed that a strike plate was not correctly used for the dead bolt and that the proper length for the dead bolt within the door frame was not done correctly. I must say hats off to

GREAT!! Responded promptly to my message on Angie's List. Arrived precisely on time, went straight to work and opened it in no time at all. Then put tape on the push-lock to prevent accidental lock-outs in the future. Professional, pleasant, prompt and reasonably priced.

locksmith was scheduled to arrive ca. 1 p.m. and finally showed up at 6 p.m.; didn't know anything about our lock (

); wanted to take photo of lock but smart phone was dead, so I took a photo and e-mailed it to K&D, which I could have done hours earlier without having to wait around the house for 5 hours. Never heard back from K&D (now 1.5 weeks later)

called to tell me he would be arriving a little late but that he was on his way. When he arrived he quickly went to work re-keying 6 locks on a new home we had purchased that morning. He also adjusted the doors to ensure they closed smoothly and the locks would work properly. Couldn't have been happier with his service. Would highly recommend.
