Next up, color selection, measurement, and order. Again, went exceptionally smooth. The gentleman that did our measurements did quote 50 sq feet more than 2 other measurements I had done, and I am glad he did. We did not have much carpet left when the installer was finished, so I am convinced the other companies were in a rush and did not get the his/her closets in our master bath. What a disappointment that would have been. Their measurement guy took his time, was exceptionally thorough and nailed it! I cannot begin to imagine my response had we gone with another company and they missed the closets. On top of all of this, he was on time, respected my time and was polite.
Finally, installation day. We did pay to have the installers move our furniture as we did not want to deal with it. They were fantastic! Not only did they take care with our belongings, but they did not bang up any walls or cause damage to any of the furniture. They even moved some of the small stuff I forgot to get out of the way without complaint. They did a fantastic job on the carpet and kept me informed on what all was going on, could not ask for better installation.

Would I recommend them. Absolutely! With no hesitation and complete confidence that they would do a spectacular job. Too many superlatives? Not really. How often does one experience a really great contractor experience?

The owner came by with samples and to take measurements.
We had a quote next day, but also took the time to get quotes from some other vendors.
B&D was not the least expensive, but worked with us on price.
We decided to go with them based on the quality of the hardwood they offered, the owners we dealt with were great and they had positive Angie's list reviews.
They delivered the hardwood three days before the install, so it could acclimate to the house environment (some companies don't do this).
Two installers showed up on time in the morning and had both floors done by noon.
The finished result looks great. Nice tight cuts and finishes.
We will be going back to them for carpeting another room.
There was an mistake on the final bill regarding the taxes, but a quick call and they sent a corrected bill.
Would definitely recommend using them.
When he did arrive, I took him in to show him the area where the job was. He seemed surprised that the carpet had been previously laid, expressed frustration that the individual rolls had not been marked with the dimensions and that he would have to measure them before he could start, that each bedroom had a radiator he would need to work around and that tack strips were not already down.
No one asked us any of these questions when we called to get a quote. We were clear the house was in Shaker Heights and I would be astounded if this is the first job done in this suburb that has an older housing stock full of radiators. This man’s attitude stunned me. He actually said in a very negative voice, “This is a real pain. What I’m getting paid for this job is not adequate.”
Can you imagine?
He did not say, “I think there has been some misunderstanding about the amount of work and I need to call the company before
I can begin.” Clearly there was a disconnect somewhere between what we were told and what he was told.
He also was very vocal about one piece of carpet that had been folded which we had brought merely as back-up for the stairs in case we were short. Again instead of saying, “I’m not sure I can use that piece because….” He fielded another angry
While we were discussing if we wanted someone with his attitude working in our house, he went out to his truck to call in. He then returned and said he was leaving, in fact that his supervisor had told him to leave!
By the way, we were willing to have someone come to inspect the job and prepare an estimate, it was not requested. We accepted the price the company gave us with no attempt to knock it down. Although this company came well recommended we have never been treated this way by any contractor and would not recommend this company to anyone.
We are aware that the company is engaged in community philanthropy and applaud them for their generosity. Perhaps they can also train their installers to employ good will toward their customers when there is an unexpected issue.
