Business Description: Abajo Construction, Inc. is a small company specializing in high end residential additions, renovations and new homes in the Buckhead, Brookhaven, Northlake and Decatur areas of metropolitan Atlanta. Abajo Construction has been in business continuously since April 1988. It contracts a few small commercial tenant interior renovations. Abajo’s projects range in size from small repairs to $650,000+ whole house renovations/additions and new custom homes. Normally a large project and several under $50,000 are underway, simultaneously. George Hedrick is the sole stockholder and personally oversees daily project management and supervision of each project. His experience in construction began in 1974 with LSI Construction, Inc. as an officer, stockholder and construction manager. In this position, he managed 3 project managers and commercial projects up to $2 million. Abajo’s construction methods meet all applicable 2006 International Residential Codes & Georgia Energy Codes. The appropriate building permits are obtained for each project. Mr. Hedrick is the State Licensed Agent for Abajo Construction, Inc., as a Residential/Light Commercial Company, License No. LCO000508. Abajo utilizes AIA contract and change order documents for all projects, large or small. Changes to the plans are recorded by written change orders. The majority of Abajo’s contracts are for a fixed cost. A very few are cost plus a fixed fee. Repairs are done as cost plus a percentage fee, with an estimate provided beforehand. Abajo utilizes a core group of subcontractors. The same cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, HVAC and drywall subcontractors have been used for the last 5 years. All major subcontractors are fully insured. These contractors are reliable and adhere to Abajo’s quality and customer service standards. All framing and finish carpentry, interior and exterior, is completed by Abajo own highly skilled carpenters. Typically, the owner will supply lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures and stone/ceramic tile materials. This allows the homeowner to save the considerable expense of contractor and subcontractor fees. Abajo is available to assist and review the owner’s selections to avoid delays in the project and will assist in the delivery to the jobsite. Occasionally, the owner will contract with a cabinetmaker, independent of Abajo’s general contract. However, Abajo does utilize an excellent & affordable cabinetmaker. A full list of references and contacts is available upon request. We look forward to fulfilling your home renovations and new home needs.
