to look at my boat. Came out for 1 hour labor (agreed upon) to examine. He didn't have proper diagnostic tool for this engine, but didn't tell me this, even though I asked twice during that first visit, until second visit to install parts (not the major issue, but that should have been an indicator of the service level). He quoted a price for the parts and pre-charged me for the parts and the first hour labor (for that day to drive over and look at the boat).
His part supplier didn't have the part and it was delayed a week. I told him when the part was delayed that I would have company for the weekend and would like to get it done by then. He called on Monday to let me know it was being shipped. I called back on Wednesday and he said it was shipped and he had tracking and it should be here Friday. He left me a message on Friday that the part was in, but he only worked until 1pm on Saturday and it looked like rain. I called him Saturday morning to let him know the weather looked good (it didn't rain at all Saturday morning) and reminded him I have company coming over. No reply. He called back on Monday to schedule an appointment to install the part. (by the way, with appointment scheduling - he had to reschedule three times with me - not a big deal since I was home anyway - but beware if you take time off for him!)
He installed one part that fixed one problem (the engine would now start), but the engine alarm was still sounding. He went to try to find a diagnostic tool, to no success.
He then called to discuss replacing another part. During that call, we agreed upon 2 hours labor charge for the first repair (even though two different internet discussions stated this repair should take 15-20 minutes), since he did tighten a wire on another sensor (although that should not take that long either).
He then offered to try another part to fix the engine alarm (not having the diagnostic tool for the engine, he couldn't know for sure), providing a quote for the part and I talked him down from a quote of 1.5 hours to 1 hour flat labor fee. I told him I would let him know. The next day I found the part locally and installed it myself in no more than 20 minutes, start to finish.
He then called to settle the bill, stating that he had another half hour to remove and install the seat to get better access. I told
him I would replace the seat (a 5 minute job, at most!) and reminded him of the 2 hour labor quote we agreed upon. I finally caved and told him I would settle on the 2.25 hours, just wanting to be done with dealing with this business.
He showed up and wanted an additional $177+. The additional labor was $168.53, with tax, so I didn't understand why it was more, especially since we did not use one part, that he was giving me credit for from my initial parts payment (this part was $25-30, but I never received a breakdown, even after asking him how much that part was for the credit!).
He then provided the invoice. It showed that the parts and labor wasn't what he originally quoted. The parts were about $34-39 higher than he quoted (including the credit of the returned part). You would think that a part's price wouldn't go up over a few days! And, if quoting someone parts pricing, I would try to explain to them that the price went up, instead of just giving an invoice and not showing what went up and why. It felt very shady to me!
I expressed my dissatisfaction over both points (the parts and labor being different from what was agreed upon) when I met with him to pay him. His only reply was that he was sorry I was not happy. I mentioned to him that it is disappointing when a company
doesn't honor their quotes (twice!!) and that the poor reviews he would receive would probably end up costing more than the minor amount to resolve the issue (what I see is about $55).
To further fuel the situation, I told him how the I found 8 of the 10 seat screws in a cup holder (remember, he took the seat off and charged me labor to do so!!), one screw loose on the deck of the boat and one was missing!! His reply "
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
, I must have dropped one", with no offer to look for it or replace it.
Bottom line and my recommendation - STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!

"In about 15 minutes hour they had diagnosed the problem as a fouled carburetor. Less than half an hour later they had the carburetor extracted, disassembled, cleaned and reinstalled. My tender motor runs like a top now. I was so impressed I invited them back to work on one of my other boats. I appreciated fast, quality work at a fair price. They're my guys now.

Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
responded that morning and I told him I just bought the boat and it was surveyed before the purchase and a few minor repairs needed to be done. As we went to the dock he pointed out that the boat right next to mine was a customer of his. He gave me estimates on all the repairs and we agreed he would come back on Tuesday. I then contacted the boat owner who had

Bottom Line:
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
and
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
did an outstanding quality job installing the cover which clearly has many details and custom refinements required for proper installation. They took extra care to accommodate my requests to protect my newly installed boat lift beds, cradles and guideposts. They also repositioned their work boat and readjusted the cradles to enable me to slip my boat during a bad weather interruption that came in the middle of the job. Start to finish the job took about 3.5 days (not counting weather stoppage).

However, about half a day was unexpectedly required to correct a failing boat lift motor gear previously installed by a different dock solutions contractor, and a premature failure of that previous contractor’s “galvanized airline cable”. I was very fortunate to have
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
and
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
performing my automatic cover installation because they conscientiously informed me of the gearbox failure – a failure which if not corrected would certainly have
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
to either a lift motor freeze-up or catastrophic release with the potential of crushing and significant injury and damage. Many contractors would have ignored the problem and simply finished their job. It is a clear and significant testament to
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
’s integrity and ethics.
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
interrupted his tight installation schedule and performed a first class emergency installations of a replacement lift motor and gear, (and properly measured lift cradle cable). And just for the record,
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
and
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
performed this emergency service, (emergency because it needed to be done immediately), at substantially lower cost than the previous original installer. In comparison, the original dock solutions installer has refused to acknowledge a warranty claim, has attempted to establish an inaccurate subcontractor status, made requests for irrelevant insurance documents and Marine Contractor licenses and generally conducted himself in a palaverous manner demonstrating an intent to escape responsibility (contact me if you wish to know the name of the other original contractor who installed the failed components).

Now on to the remainder of the review. I rated responsiveness a bit lower because I did need to spend a bit too much time “before the install started” trying to get responses and communication with
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
. At times I had to call, then text, then email, then do it again. Eventually, all my attempts were answered, but it was a bit of a time waster on my end. It appears to me
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
handles all the administrative functions of the business, so in retrospect, a bit of non-responsiveness before the job starts, was a small inconvenience for a super high quality product. In addition, after the install started and
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
was focused on my install job, he was extremely responsive to any call, text or email I sent.

I rated price a “B” because this is a custom product which commands a high price -- however that price is commensurate to the quality of materiel and installation. In other words it is an expensive product. However, in my opinion the value the cover adds to the dock makes the investment worth the price, especially if you
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
a boat of any value, are considering the additional value of your dock when contemplating a sale, or have a boat operator who has difficulty removing and installing a boat snap down tarp cover after use. If Angie’s List offered a “VALUE” rating, I would rate value at “A”, highest, because this product is fantastic and clearly top of the line for performing its purpose.

"The owner came to my house, did his calculations and gave me an estimate. He told me that my canvas was still in good enough shape to warrant only the plastic being replaced. I had planned on having to replace the entire canvas. He was honest with me and saved me money. He finished the job on time and was right on his estimate. I will return when it is time for my canvas to be replaced.

"I had a boat with so many problems going on at one time i was overwhelmed. I grunted and pointed at the stuff and told him and he fixed it. he has a great deal of electrical knowledge, uses meters to test connections and wires. The amount of work they were able to to is just to much to list 2 pages of invoice and well worth the money i spent.

"When we first got our quote from
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
,
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
was on top of things: got the contract to us, got signatures, started permitting process. The permitting took a long time. We expected this, but often we did not hear from
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
at all until we called him, trying to find out what our status was. He would usually respond that "everything has been submitted" and he was just waiting to hear from the parties (Florida DEP,
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
Corps of Engineers, etc.).
When things dragged on for a couple of months, he actually looked into the status instead of just reassuring us, and found out that the engineer involved had NOT submitted everything, so we started off "behind" from the beginning.
When construction finally started, things picked up. They were careful about delivering materials -- never drove trucks across the lawn, carried even heavy beams and piering by hand, etc. The construction itself was of extremely good quality -- our dock puts other docks on the ICW to shame.
All in all, the project took about 8 months, which is probably about average, though I don't know for sure.
The final problem, though, was
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
's failure to respond to small problems at the end: they promised to come back and re-nail some of the wraps around the pilings. They never did. When our boat lift, which they installed, started making terrible screeching noises when we lowered the boat, they promised to come and take a look at it. They never did. When we called the manufacturer, they insisted that our contractor take care of the problem, but he wouldn't come back.
As long as we owed him money,
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
, the owner, was responsive. After we gave him the last payment, we never saw him again.
Before publishing this review, we called
Alpharetta Boat Dealer Provider Name Locked
one more time to give him the opportunity to make things right with the boat lift. He promised to come out, but never showed up, never called.
