Reviews for Winter Park Landscapers

"I caution anyone contracting with this company to get everything in writing, hold the company to the written quote/contract, and
’t expect much in the way of communication.
Re Cost: The original agreed-upon quote was for $10,000. During the installation,
verbally told me on one occasion, we needed a new sprinkler timer which would cost “a couple hundred dollars”; and on another that the sprinkler guy was charging “a couple hundred dollars” more than anticipated. I foolishly okayed these expenses over the phone. When the final bill came, I expected an over-run of about $500, based on two “couple hundred dollar quotes”. It was $1,500 over !! [Also note, unknown to me for well over a month, the sprinklers were incorrectly running in the back yard and watering just stones. When I discovered it, there was no way to fix it but to cap off those sprinkler heads, as this was an extension of needed front sprinklers.]
Re Contract: We were given an estimate, including what plants were included in the quote. Azaleas were not on the list. When the plantings were finally installed, there was an entire row of azaleas. I hate azaleas. As this happened prior to all the other unpleasant issues, and in the interest of “getting along”, I accepted the azaleas. Big mistake. They were planted in a full sun exposure, and 3 years later, had still not taken and are scraggly and sad. Get everything in writing, and hold them to it!
Re Deadlines: The single condition we had with the timing of the job was that it be completed by Thanksgiving, November 24, 2011. Remember, we came to an agreement in September. There were several delays, but we were promised the completion date would be met. In 2009, we had a new front screen porch installed by another company. In laying the pavers for the new walkway,
destroyed our front porch beyond our capabilities to repair.
told us not to worry, he would have his screen guy fix it. As of December 22, 2011, (one month past the promised completion date) the screen door had been sitting in the front yard for two months. Numerous attempts to contact
went unanswered. I finally filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Overall: As mentioned, the final bill was $1,500 over the original quote. Since the screen door had not been repaired when the bill was presented, I held back $500 as an incentive.
continuously ignored my pleas to have it fixed. In response to my filing with the BBB, they threatened to file a
on my home for the unpaid balance – which was only held back for them to complete the promised work! Everything was finally resolved in January 2012. But did
forgive the $500 in the interest of customer service and as payment for broken promises? No. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company. [You may ask why I've waited so long to submit this review -- the honest answer was I was in fear of reprisal, but have now sold my house.]

"I wish I had thought to take before and after pictures to show the complete transformation that
did to our yard. It is now just beautiful. He came over and looked over the area (two beds) in our front yard and then emailed me his design and the plants he wanted to use. I let him know that there were a couple that I didn't care for and he researched some different plants and then sent me a revised plan with pictures of the plants. I gave him my blessing and he started on a Tuesday and finished up on Wednesday. We have received lots of compliments from our neighbors on our landscaping - all raving about how lovely it looks. So once again, thank you
for an amazing job!

"After having purchased a coupon from Angie's list for 4 hours of landscaping I had intended to have this area just cleared. It had several large bushes , dead plants and a 12 ft crepe

himself cleared the area within a hour and a half and then returned to finish the next day with the plants we decided on....It was professional, and the price was reasonable....I would reccommend this company anytime for any landscape or yard work.
"It was $80 per month due on the first. I signed a contract for one year with services being every weekend, and every other weekend for Fall/Winter months. Beginning of October they stopped services with no communication of what was going on. I did not receive a text, phone call, or mail. At the beginning of November I repeatedly texted the owner and left a message to ask if they were still in business. I did not receive an answer. I had my bank account set up to automatically pay them on the 1st of each month. The check for October was already sent. I contacted the owner to ask if I could get the check back or just reimburse me for the services that were not provided for that month. She never responded. The check was cashed and she has not given me any indication that I will receive my money back.
"They came on time, on Sat. a.m. about 8 a.m.. There were 3 people. They pulled weeds, trimmed up the bushes and shrubbery,
cleaned up inside a screened area and the yard. They bagged up all the trimmings. They stayed about 1-1/2 hrs.

"I went on Craigslist looking for someone to put down some pavers and work on the landscaping around the house. What I found was a true artist who created an

for me and now a good friend. My neighbors now are envy of my front yard, and one of the neighbors has also hired him. Ed is a true genusis in the landscaping buisness, at one point I stopped telling him what to do and he get did his own thing which was much better than what I had in mind!! Thanks to Ed and his team I LOVE pulling into my drivieway."
"I hired this firm to clear and re-sod an area on the side of the house. Almost two weeks passed before the work was started. I thought that they had forgotten about the job. Then I got a phone call that they were done. It was neat, with good grass and is growing fine now after my daily waterings for a couple weeks."

came out and acessed my yard. Told him what I wanted, but left the design up to him.

The ground was cleared, 4 zone irrigation system installed, driveway torn up and widened, pavers installed, including walk to front door, plants, trees and grass in place, all in about 3 1/2 days. My yard is beautiful; the talk of the neighborhood.

The crew with Linus was outstanding. They were polite, worked well together, seemed in constant motion. No one standing around. The area was cleaned up each day, nothing just laying around. Even my neighbors commented on how they worked.

I definitely got my money's worth and couldn't have asked for anything better.
"Several emails were sent back and forth over the course of contracted period. I expressed my disappointment in the service and the quality. From April to

the lawn was only cut 3 times. Anyone who lives in Florida knows that the grass grows like a weed during these months. I even had to contact an attorney to send a letter to the company asked for them to honor the contract. It all came to an end when an email send from

(the owner) stating that I was being discharged as a customer. This too violated the contract because I was not given 30 days written notice. I sent an email requesting a refund for the remainder of the portion that was paid. The response send by

called me an extortionist and that I was to cease further communication. I ended all communication. About a week later, I had an email in my inbox from the company indicating that they would be in my area, would I like them to cut the lawn. Of course, I said, "yes" since I had yet to see a refund. Naturally, he did not show up. Needless to say, do not hire this company unless you like to throw your money away for sloppy work and bad professionalism.

, the company owner, responded promptly to my initial call, listened attentively and took notes during our scheduled appointment when we walked around the property, then spent time on his own taking pictures and measurements of all the areas to be re-landscaped. His enthusiasm, confidence, and relaxed demeanor made me feel positive about hiring him to complete the seemingly overwhelming work that I'd been putting off for a long time. Within a couple of days he emailed a drawing and detailed estimate of the work to be done. His attention to detail in planning the project and reasonable price estimate convinced me to choose his company over another whose price for the same work seemed way out of line. We agreed to begin the work about two weeks after our acceptance of his proposal. His three-man crew showed up promptly on the designated day and worked nonstop until late afternoon to clear out all of the old plants in front, including the large vine-infested powder

shrub which they dug out by hand. They also began some of the clearing in the back and set aside a few plants that I wanted to move later to containers for our pool area. All the guys were easygoing, friendly, and worked well together to get a lot of work accomplished in a short amount of time. They cleaned up the debris as they worked and took all the trash with them at the end of the day. The second day proceeded just as efficiently. A lot of the backyard behind the pool was a literal jungle of overgrown viburnum, ligustrum, pyrocantha, wax

lilies, and roughly six different species of wild vines, including the impossible-to-control skunk vine. By the end of the day that area of approximately 1500 square feet had been cleared and sprayed for weeds. I was astounded at how much bigger our property seemed with all the trash removed. By the end of day three, all new plants had been installed, including a nice crape

Robelinii palm, and an assortment of about 90 small hedge plants and ground cover. All beds were mulched, two sprinkler heads were replaced and adjusted, a splash rock was positioned to control runoff from the front roof, and the property was raked and cleaned thoroughly. Two of the front beds were recontoured and prepared for additional St.

did not send me a bill until after all the work had been completed to my satisfaction. Because of my positive experience with this company, I plan to use them again for periodic maintenance and to do some additional landscaping in my new cleared 50? x 30? backyard.
