"This provider is chronically late for service maintenance appointments, causing us to wait for long periods of time before they get here. This provider has also tried to sell us a new system when all they had to do was to replace a very expensive part ...more which was already under warranty with them, which they said they did not know. AC and Plumbing this morning to make and appointment for an annual check-up. (We usually do this in the spring before the summer rush but time got away from us.) The kind lady that answered the phone said someone could be here between noon and 2pm today.

Another man came several days later, cleaned the entire system and put in a new capacitor. He worked alone and it took him all afternoon and into early evening, well pass dark. We asked him about working alone and he replied the other man didn't like to work alone but he did. OK. While doing the work he noted that an electrical bus needed to be replaced also. He promised to get us a price.
He explained just what this part was and that if it failed we would be without AC. Meanwhile the holidays intervened. During the holidays we got a phone message from the company but were unable to respond as we were out of town. We finally called back and after several attempts we reached someone who helped us. We were trying to return their missed call via the number that called us during the holidays, instead of the office. So it took a long time to get the correct person to return our call again. Finally they gave us a price on the electrical bus and we asked them to order it. A few weeks later the man who had done the cleaning, etc came by and installed the new electrical bus. He was very professional, courteous and amiable the whole time. If there was a problem it was mainly due to the fact that we were away at holiday time and couldn't answer or return the call in a timely fashion. But also it seems their main office is in Miami and we're not sure there's an actual office in

"They didn't even show up for the appointment. I called and the operator had to check with the driver and he had an issue he had to take care of and didn't tell anybody. This was the 2nd time that they failed to arrive for an appointment. They are terrible!!!

"They told me that based on the fact that when in heating mode, the pressure was too high and it was caused by the expansion values in both outdoor units were not working properly. The tech (and later his supervisor) should me the pressure levels. They were indeed too high.
Their Solution: Replace both expansion valves. Cost: over $900.
Wanting ...more a second opinion, I contacted a neighbor who had a HVAC business for over 30 years. He disagreed with the diagnosis saying that if the expansion value was bad (closed), then the inlet pressure would be very low as well. But the inlet pressure was normal. (He should me the meter readings.) That told him that the expansion value was not defective.
He diagnosed the problem to be caused by too much refrigerant in the system. He removed some to get normal high (and low) pressure readings. Subsequently the system worked perfectly.
So if I paid the $900+ to CCC, my system would have worked fine as CCC guaranteed it would, not because they replaced the values but because they would have recharged the system to the proper refrigerant pressure levels.
As a side note, duty filters in the air handler could also cause the high pressure. But the first technician failed to mention that or even check the filters. (It turns out that they were very dirty, but that was not the root cause of the over-pressure situation.)
The lesson here is: before you spend a lot of money on a contractor, get a 2nd or even 3rd quote!
