All in all - in those 4 months I had to call at least 20 times and spent countless hours on hold. I was told at least 4 times, "okay, we've got it taken care of now and you shouldn't see these charges next month." - only to have it happen again. Every time I called I had to start the whole story over from the beginning and they just transferred me from one department to the next, putting me at the end of the hold
The only way I finally got it resolved was that I drove to their local office and stood in line until I got to the desk. I then explained my story and was told to call the customer service number. I called it while I was standing there and put it on speaker mode so she could hear and I refused to move from the spot until someone answered and resolved my problem. As the person at the counter kept asking me to step aside, I asked her if I was inconveniencing them while we continued to listen to hold music. After standing there for about 10 minutes on hold, someone from the back office finally came out and asked me to step aside. I told him I would as soon as a real person could help resolve me problem. I figure I was on the verge of having the cops called on me but I didn't care.
That's how far I had to go to get this piece of crap company to fix THEIR mistake. I have since switched to Direct TV and purchased a home security system that actually works.

I called the company in January of 2014 to challenge the increase in rates, as I have been on a "LOCKED-IN" agreement for 2 years, but the agent argued that Charter can add charges any time it wants despite the "lock-in," which is ridiculous and did not happen during the prior 22 months, so I am sure they are breaking the law on this one.
I have had a locked in agreement from March of 2012 to March of 2014, and I called to see if I could get any services that would approximate my current rate, but they have no lower-rated service like basic cable or a slower internet speed. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and can't afford the 50% increase in cost that will kick in in March for the same services I have now. I will most likely have to cancel the cable tv, would like to cancel everything, but this company has a monopoly in our area, so there is no real competition.
