work yet waiting to assess if there are any problems).
and attached to the new fuse box he has prior installed. I explained to
that during these cold days the shower quality of warm water is at best lukewarm
and I was wondering if it has anything to do with the timer.
was around my place and could come and check. Unfortunately out times of
availability did not match. The next day I called him again and he said he
could come and check later on that day. I also told
estimate of other electrical work done in the house.
He arrived as promised and took a look at the timer. We also went around the
house so I can explain what else I would like to be done.
in my house (including time discussing and going around the house to see what I
would like to be done) and not more than
10 minutes un-screwing the settings of the water heater timer. He said he would
send me a written estimate of the work I would like to be done. When I ask him
how much did I owe him for removing the screws of the heater timer he said
$95.00 and proceeded to tell me that $60.00 was for Service Call and $35.00 for
removing the screws (4 screws to be exact)
This is outrageously expensive! Because I don't trust a handy person
doing electrical work I called
here he would charged $60. He does not have a web page describing prices and
procedures. He also came to give me a supposedly free estimate of further work.
This is not only the most expensive removal of 4 screws I have paid for but
also a lack of consideration to me as a customer after using his services in
large scale before.
I paid him of course. But I would not use his services again. I will review the
prior work done at a latter time.
At this point I see no
difference in the water warmth.
They were also good at letting us know other maintenance issues they spotted for us to raise with other providers. Many thanks for a great job done!
checked out what I wanted done, told me what it would cost, and went right to work. He is a very nice guy,and did a great job. I wll called them the next time I need electrical work done.
Its technician arrived at our house earlier this week. The recommended fix was to put a new sub-panel in at a cost of almost $900! I also asked Bolt to assess a problem we had with a non-functioning outside light. The estimated cost to diagnose that problem was another $289.00. After applying the discounts that were part of its promotional offer, the total estimate to repair the double-tapped breakers and determine the problem with the outside light was $1,038.00!! I was astonished at that price, so I called a friend of mine who is a retired home builder. He was also amazed at the price, particularly since he had helped me inspect the home at the time we were negotiating to buy it. He said it should have been obvious to any competent electrician that there were unused circuit breakers in the box since a spa that had once been at the house was no longer there. In other words, there should have been no need for a new subpanel.
As a result, I contacted another electrician - R&R Electric in Sarasota. This morning, our problem was fixed in only 20 minutes. The electrician also determined the cause of an outside light not working - something that took another 30 minutes or so. The electrician from R&R, who has done this kind of work in Sarasota since 1981, charged $80.00 for the service call and $32 for the breakers - on a Saturday! Total cost = $112! Stated another way, we paid less than 11% of the estimate provided by
