Punta Gorda Roofing Contractors Reviews

"The work consisted of replacing about 1200 square feet of flat roofing on an addition to my home. * The old roofing and flashings were removed. * Rotted plywood was replaced. * All of the plywood was screwed down at 6 inch intervals. * underlayment was nailed to the plywood. * The top coating was adhered to the underlayment. * New flashings were attached. All of this work was accomplished under very strict code requirements established after hurricane

".Contract price for the roof and gable end siding was $13,000 and for which I paid $1200 down. Was not allowed to select a shingle prior to signing the contract. Gable ends were to be replaced with concrete

board according to contract. Work began on 5/3/11. Four to five men worked approximately 5 days on removing the old shingles and replacing some decking (was never advised as to how many sheets of decking were replaced) on a 1700 sq. ft. house. They also removed the wood from the gable ends during this time. Then I was finally shown a picture of a shingle from the internet web site of

green (previous roof was gray). It was very pretty but I commented to the contractor that this shingle would no go with my current gray soffit and fascia. He said it couldn't be painted but that he could replace it with white soffit and fascia for a price of around $1500 - $2000. That seemed reasonable as I had just had it replaced after Hurricane

for $1700 (one man did it in one day). A couple days later I was advised by the contractor that the shingles had to be ordered from California and they were going to cost me another $2500 as they were an upgrade but he didn't know why they were so much more expensive. He had already ordered said shingles so I went along with it. The next day the contractor called me and said he was going to need half the money since he was getting the shingles from a new supplier and had to pay for them up front.

then brought over an invoice for a total of $29,450!!!! He now wanted half. Rather than a fixed price the contract had now become a time and material cost basis though it was calculated at the middle of the project rather than after completion at an actual cost. At this point the shingles were off, fascia & soffit torn off, and gable ends torn off. I paid him another $14,000 and the next day began investigating his pricing and hired an attorney.
It took a rediculous 3 weeks for the job to be completed. Right away

wanted to settle up for the balance or he was threatening to put liens on my house. The shingle color looked nothing like the photo I was shown. It looked gray and would have been fine with my existing soffit and fascia. It also included a very unique and expensive ridge cap which I had not requested. Instead of concrete

declined when I asked for a contractor's affidavit to show that all subcontractors and suppliers had been paid. He stated that I would need to pay the balance with a cashier's check first. He and the suppliers proceeded to place liens on my house.

finally provided the contractor's affidavit which indicated that all major suppliers had NOT been paid, including the shingle supplier.

sued me on August 31, 2011. I have spent thousands of dollars in legal fees over the past year defending myself.
"I thought they did a very good job. I had no problems with them. When they were able to come, they did a fine job. They had a great product. They offered something better than other companies at the time. They even worked later on in the night to get things done."
"OK, but leak is worse than ever. 5-year guarantee is wonderful provided you can get them to return. That seems out of the question after three phone calls to them with no response."
"I am reporting on a problem with the 10 year warranty. Original roofing job was completed in May of 2005. In August of 2007 we encountered a leak which was immediately reported to the company. They did send someone to check it right away that confirmed the leak and said he needed to check paperwork and I needed to provide cancelled checks before work would be done but that he would be back in a few days to place a tarp over the area (this is the rainy season). It is a tile roof and care must be taken when walking on it or they can break so not just anyone can walk up and tarp the area. He did not show up and despite daily calls to the office who assured me he was coming and messages on his cell phone, he continued not to show up. It is now 5 weeks of almost daily rains and still no tarp or work completed. They were notified we have the checks form the original construction company on September 3rd. Do not use this company!"
"They came on the day promised to give me the estimate, although he had a little trouble finding the house & arrived late. He gave me a call to keep me updated though, and wasn't out of line in the time he got here."
"I requested an estimate to roof my recently purchased home. (a pre-purchase inspection found that the roof was deficient. ) they came out within a week and did a very professional job with the estimate, although theirs was the highest estimate of all those I obtained."

came out to look at our tile roof. Some of the tiles had slipped down, and being from up north and not familiar with these roofs, I was concerned.

checked it out, went up on the roof and walked around it all for about 10 minutes to check the tiles. When he came down, he explained how the roof was initially constructed and that the slipping tiles, although not ideal, would not cause any leaks and not to worry about it for now. I asked him how much he wanted for his evaluation and he said not to worry about it, no charge. About 3 months later we had a leaking skylight and I called
Punta Gorda Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to give me a price on replacing the skylight along with 3 other roofers. Although they weren't the lowest, they were about average. Being a small business, they will not always answer the phone and you have to leave a message but they will call you back during the day. They are dependable and show up when they say they'll show up and do great work. I gave them a B for price and responsiveness only because they were not the lowest (you get what you pay for after all but they were the average) and they will not always answer the phone when you call. All in all, I would highly recommend

and will use them again.
"Mr. Konners said that for what we wanted to do, we would have to consult an architect and then get the plans approved by the county, etc. etc. etc. We opted not to proceed because of the cost, not by anything Mr. Konners did. He is a top-notch man in my book and should we ever need anything done with our roof, I will make him top on my list to call.
"He responded to my initial contact promptly and quickly gave me a quote. He was busy so it took a while to get the work done. Since it wasn't urgent, that wasn't a problem. I would call him again.
