"The first visit was easy to schedule, and the technician arrived on time. He was professional in his demeanor, but after just a few days, we noticed a few chips in the bathtub, some" on the sides of the tub. I tried calling
several times, but they never returned my call. After calling from another phone, I was finally able to get through. They finally came out and did fix the chips, but I had to pay $80 more for a textured surface for the job to be covered. They claimed that we had to have dropped something on the tub. We were extremely careful and sure we did not drop anything; although, I would expect this type of product to be quite solid. Then, again, just a few days later, we noticed some peeling on the top side of the tub where we defintiely could not have dropped anything. I don't know if it was the product or the way it was applied, but I'm disappointed that I paid to have my tub refinished, only to result in an imperfect tub in the end. I've had this type of service done in the past by a different company and at another home and do not recall having this issue.

"
, the owner, is very professional, extremely punctual and will answer your questions. He does the work himself and is very experienced. His method for doing" the job is not the typical acid and etch process, instead his process is more effective and durable in the long run I believe. Also, he is not messy using caustic products. He prep's the tub and then applies 5 coats of a special polymer and then returns the next day to do the caulking around the tub. His second visit for caulking is very fast, in and out. His pricing that I received and paid was for a typical cast-iron, early 1950's ish bathtub was $325.00 and $50.00 for the next day caulking - $375.00 grand total. I am four months from completion and my bathtub looks like new and cleans up easily. One recommendation: do exactly as his warranty (which he gives you separately in writing) states. Use only a
Pad and
Green cleanser otherwise you void the warranty, but using both products gives you a perfect clean knowing no harm will come to the finish. He gives you a 5 year written guarantee and mentioned that if you follow the maintenance as stated, the refinishing should last 10-12 years, possibly a bit more. I have recommended him to neighbors and recommend him, his work and pricing without reservation to anyone. A far cheaper way to go than a complete re-do of your bathroom. Also, he can do the re-glaze in different colors, I chose white.

"
was very fast is his reply to my inquiry. He came back with a quote within 24 hours of emailing photos of the job. He was able to schedule within a weeks time." Although the tech ran late the day of the appointment he was in constant contact to alert me of his status. When
arrived he was very pleasant and hard working even at the end of his long day. He did an amazing job and was very polite and neat with his work. I would have liked a little more instruction regarding paper and tape removal but
answered my questions right away via email. The price, service and 5year warranty are super! I highly recommend this company.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

http://indigochreblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0835.jpg

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

Everything went just as stated with the vendor. The big decision with this process is do you want to do it all, or is it better to buy a new tub. Only time will tell. This is because you have to treat the resealed tub very differently than an original tub, e.g., no bleach for cleaning (but scrubbing bubbles is OK), no suction cups on bath mats (I still can't find one without suction cups and bought one that I thought didn't have them, but it does). No shampoo bottles in corners of tub. Perhaps, the vendor should provide you with the recommended type of bath mat and tell you where to get them in the future.
I was worried about the toxic smells but they were very careful to vent the room and it was not bad at all.

Initially, it went well.
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
is a gem to work with. My appointment was made quickly, and all initial questions were answered quickly.
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
was scheduled to come out at 9:00a on the day of the project. By 9:45 he had not arrived. I called and was told he was on his way. By 10:15 he had still not arrived. My contractor was waiting for him so that I could go to work. He arrived a few minutes after 10:15, and promptly set to work. The project took less time than anticipated. He called me at work as I had asked, and I returned home to survey the work, and to pay him. He thoroughly answered all of my questions and gave me detailed questions about caring for the tub and its new finish. It was sparkling beautiful!
Several days later, I noticed several little flaws including three pin-hole spots that looked like maybe perhaps the liquid finish had bubbled and burst, leaving little
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
. On August 27, I e-mailed about the problems asking if this was an easy fix, and if we could get a calendar date set for repair. Pat
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
wrote back indicating that the repairs sounded quick and easy. He mentioned that
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
was on vacation and that once he returned, he'd check
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
's schedule and get back with me. I thanked him for a quick response and asked if the week of Sept. 9 was doable, since I had family coming in soon and I wanted to be sure the work was completed and cured in time for their arrival.
After that I also noticed a scratch on the side of the tub, which is barely visible, a couple other areas where it seems like the finish didn't take to the original surface, and a sharp fragment of what I believe to be the aggregate that was used on the bottom of the tub, which somehow was sprayed onto the back of the tub, and will scratch the back of anyone who lays back in the tub.
Not hearing back from Pat for a couple weeks, I e-mailed him again on September 11, asking if September 29 would be a workable date, and I mentioned the other errors. He wrote back saying he would check with
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
and get me on the calendar.
I've not heard back.
While I plan to follow up, since I would like the small problems fixed, I think that after two requests to fix the matters, it's time for an Angie's List posting. I have copies of all the e-mails and look forward to having the problem resolved.
My "C" ratings are due to the failure of
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
to proactively follow up, and I consider that to be a reflection of their overall quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism. I might be willing to change those ratings, if
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
makes good on the follow up, and if the repairs are of the quality of the rest of the tub.

On or about August 1, 2014, we engaged
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
to refinish our tubs and sinks in two bathrooms. L***
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
visited our house and inspected the tubs and she subsequently sent us an estimate for each bathroom. We altered the plan for one of the bathrooms lowering the cost by $80. It was agreed that
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
was to start work on Saturday, August 16. They stopped by our house on August 15 to pick up a check for $200 to buy materials. The next day
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
came alone to do the work; he mentioned that he and L*** normally perform the work together which worried us at first but we figured they were the professionals and he must know the procedure. Before the work was completed, he stated that they needed to be paid for the rest of the job, which was $228. He said they
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
’t normally take checks on the weekend, plus they were moving to
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
Springs, MS and he wasn't sure if there was a Trustmark bank on the coast. I went and withdrew $228 in cash and paid him. After he had completed work, it was noted that there were some imperfections and problems in the finish of the tub and on the sink. We received an invoice showing where we had completely paid for the first bathroom and a note at the bottom stating that they would come back and perform some repairs to the sink and tub on August 23. The day they were to come they called and said they were having car problems and had gotten lost while trying to sell one of their pit bull puppies. They were initially supposed to arrive at the house by 12:00 PM yet they did not get there till 4:23 PM. They started work sanding down the imperfections when they noticed that the product was starting to peel off the sink and tub. They indicated that the product they used was defective and since it was so late in the day they would need to come back the next morning, August 24.
They arrived the next morning and spent the next 4 to 5 hours stripping off the old product and reapplying the new surface material to the tub and sink. During the stripping process they damaged and left indentations in the original surface of the sink. Again, there were imperfections and ripples on the surface which would need to be sanded down and some sort of glaze re-applied. We agreed that they would come back on September 6 at 12:00 PM. They were also supposed to start on the second bathroom but we decided that would not be a good idea since both bathrooms could potentially be out of service so the second bathroom would be started on the week after the first bathroom was completed.
On September 6, we waited for them to arrive at the pre-appointed time yet they never came. There was no phone call explaining why they were late or if there was a problem with that day. We waited for their call on Sunday and then Monday. We finally had to get in touch with another company to finish what they started.
The guy from the new company came to our house to give us an estimate. We explained the situation with the first bathroom and he asked what company had performed the work. We said
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
and he immediately knew who we were talking about because he’d dealt with their mistakes in the past. He was astonished that after three weeks the tub and sink still had the smell of chemicals and the fact that
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
or L*** hadn't worn any respirator. He also showed us his giant enclosed trailer with all his equipment; Superior worked out of the
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
of their Acura. He repaired and finished the bathroom that Superior started and then refinished the second bathroom.
We tried contacting Superior through the Better Business Bureau but because they have no mailing address or storefront it was impossible. We also sent a text to L*** personally asking for a refund of the $428 and as expected we received nothing from them. We feel that
Port Charlotte Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
stole $428 from us and I would never recommend their services. They may try to refute this factual review but there is no excuse they can come up with to explain away their unprofessional behavior. The Attorney General's office stated that no one should ever do business with any company without a storefront or street address.
