"I had tried installing a new French Patio Door and could not get it to close. I called Swans based on the reviews here. He scheduled an appointment and came down" and quickly determined the issue. He took the time to explain why I was having trouble and how he had two options to correct it. He had the door installed within about a couple hours and did not even charge me the full estimated cost of 250. He offered to do the rest of the install work (foam insulation, reattach brick , etc) but I enjoy that stuff. I will definitely keep him in mind when I have another project I need help on or someone to do for me

-John C.

" , owner of The Bee, is one of the most unethical, dishonest people that I've ever had the misfortune to do" business with. I filed a complaint against him with the Better Business Bureau; he didn't respond to the complaint. I also reported him to the State Licensing Board for General Contractors. I hired The Bee (owner: ) in August 2015 to replace some rotten siding on my home, to so some repairs to the bandsill under a bay window, and to replace several pieces of rotten trim around windows, and to replace a piece of rotten trim along the bottom of my chimney. The rotten pieces of trim were to be replaced with pvc material, not wood. told me that payment for the material would be due when the material was purchased but that the labor would not be billed until the job was finished to my satisfaction. On Wednesday, 8/12/15, two workers (TR and ) arrived to begin work. It quickly became apparent that was completely unskilled in this kind of work. TR was showing him how to use tools and how to do basic tasks. On 8/13/15, TR and picked up 20 pieces of LP SmartSide at MBS ( Building Supply) siding to replace some Masonite siding on my house. (I paid $750 that day for the materials.) spent the entire day painting the first coat of paint on the 20 pieces of siding while TR did the band sill repair, did the trim repair around my bay window and a replaced a piece of trim on my kitchen window. They returned on Friday, 8/14/15, and worked only half a day on the siding repair before telling me that they were leaving early and that they wouldn't be back until Wednesday, 8/19 to finish the work because was sending them to another job.. They left all of the materials scattered around my yard. when they left. On Monday 8/17 I received a "progress invoice" for $2315.95 from for all the work done up to that point. A red flag immediately went up; I wasn't supposed to get billed for the labor until the job was completed. Against my better judgment, I paid the $2315.95. HUGE MISTAKE ON MY PART! Once had that money, he had no interest in coming back to finish the job and I was left high and dry with the job partially finished. I spent weeks trying to chase down and get a commitment on when his guys would be back to finish the work at my house. When I did manage to get a return phone call, just made one excuse after another of why his guys hadn't been back to finish the work at my house. Three of four times he told me they'd be there on a certain day and then they wouldn't show up. It wasn't until 10/15 (2 months after they'd left!) that they finally returned to finish the work at my house. This time there were 3 guys (TR, , and ). TR was supposed to be the "lead" carpenter. He and argued a lot, and not in a friendly manner. It made me very uncomfortable. TR was hostile and belligerent when he spoke to me. On 10/15, all they had to do was finish installing the siding (that had been left on my patio for 2 months) and paint the second coat on paint on it, replace 1 piece of trim on 2 different windows, and replace the trim along the bottom of my chimney. The workers weren't focused on working; they were focused on fighting with each other. I went into my backyard on 10/15 to see and urinating on my patio, 10 feet from my back door. The windows on the back of my house were open as were the blinds so they were in full view of those in the house, including one of my children. These guys gave new meaning to disgusting. TR knocked on the door and said they were finished and told me to come look at it. I walked around the house and pointed at the trim paint that was running and dripping down onto the siding that I'd recently painted. He got nasty with me and said, "hey, it's not my fault it's not 90 degrees out!" Then he became very belligerent and said he was packing up his tools and leaving. I did my best to ignore his behavior. I pointed out that the 2 pieces of window trim that they'd replaced hadn't been painted and he hollered at to get over there and paint it. responded back angrily that he couldn't paint it because the caulk was still wet and TR hollered back at him to paint it anyway! I pointed out that the trim along the bottom of my chimney hadn't been replaced and he couldn't even remember what they were supposed to do with it. When I reminded him that the rotten wood was supposed to be replaced with pvc trim, he said FINE in a nasty of voice and then told me to go back in the house. Before I'd gone more than a few feet, he hollered at to pack up their tools, that they were leaving NOW! ( had been out in their truck for several hours by then.) TR started slinging tools around. I went inside the house and locked the door. I immediately called and told him that his guys had acted very inappropriately at my house and that that the work that none of what they had done had been done correctly. came to my home on Tuesday, 10/20. I expected him to be apologetic for how his guys had acted and for how they had screwed up the work at my house. Boy, was I wrong. As I pointed out the things that had been done wrong (which was everything), he became very hostile and said he wasn't fixing anything for free and if I wanted them to fix what was done wrong then I'd have to pay for it. expected to get paid for doing it wrong, and then get paid again for fixing what they'd done wrong! I told him I wasn't paying him to fix what his guys screwed up. He stormed away from my house, making a scene in front of several of my neighbors, at me that he was sending me a bill and if I didn't pay it he would put a on my house. He sent me a bill for $1668 for 10/15-10/16 (this is in addition to the $3065.95 that I'd already paid him.) The siding that they had installed was installed wrong. The mfg installation instructions call for minimum 8d galvanized nails with a .27" head and 0.113 shank. The nails are supposed to penetrate a minimum of 1 1/5" into the framing of the house. The nail head is supposed to fit snugly against the face of the siding. Butt joints were supposed to always be at studs. 's workers used what looked like finishing nails that are used in conjunction with wood glue when making wood furniture. The nails had NO HEADS and were sunk deep into the siding. In many areas there were 3-4 nails in a 2" area. The butt joints were not on studs and half a dozen of them are already pulling away from the house. Because they used the wrong nails, the siding will pull away from the house as it swells and contracts. I called the supplier and described the installation; they said that the protective outer shell of the siding had been compromised and that the siding needed to be removed and new siding installed. Because the siding was installed wrong, the mfg warranty was voided. When I emailed and explained how the siding had been installed wrong, his response was a verbal attack. He told me that I was wrong about what kind of siding that they had installed on my house. He insisted that they had installed board siding and that they had followed the mfg's installation instructions. He was just lying. He had the invoice for the siding just like I did. just tried to lie his way out of it by trying to convince me that I don't know the siding that was on my house. refused to take responsibility for the incorrect installation of the siding just like he refused to take responsibility for the other mistakes his guys made. The siding mfg is going to send a representative to my house to inspect the siding and document what was done to the siding. On the back (second story) of my house, the only repair that they were authorized to do was to replace one vertical piece of window trim on one window. One of the workers took a paintbrush and randomly painted fresh paint 6-8" spots all over the wall so that now the entire wall has to be painted. This was obviously deliberate on their part to make me have to repaint the entire wall. The did the exact same thing on another wall of my house. This was nothing more than them deliberating damaging my house. said that it is MY FAULT that there are spots all over those two walls. He said that if the paint had been a perfect match, then it wouldn't have mattered where his guys had painted. Without my knowledge, one of the workers got an old piece of scrap wood from a 25 year old deck that I had demo'd and tried to pass it off as the pvc repair that was supposed to have been done at the bottom of my chimney. It obviously a piece of old wood, but the worker insisted that he'd done the repair with pvc. When I pointed the lie out to , he said that he had no problem with what the worker had done! For the past month, I've tried to correspond with via email in a civil, professional manner so that we can get this worked out. The bottom line is that his guys not only didn't do the work right (so now I have to hire another company to do the work correctly) but they also caused damage to my house. So it's going to cost me more to get the repairs done because I also have to fix what they damaged. All he's done is return is threaten me. Apparently he sees a single mother as an easy target to take advantage of. I intend to post his correspondence with this review so that others can see how nasty his emails to me were.

I have never know of any spay on popcorn to have asbestos , but there is alot out there that I havent seen I guess. The best way of removing popcorn is with a 3 gallon sprayer and 12inch mudding knife. Spray the popcorn with warm water, let set for a minute and scrap.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

It's a little unusual to do this except in cases of fixer-upper properties but you should call a local general contractor with experience renovating/remodeling homes in the neighborhood.  They'll know the typical problems with the homes there and what to look out & budget for.  For example, here in San Antonio many of the homes built in the mid-fifties to 60's have lead drains that were not put in properly or were installed in such a way that repairs are not quick or cheap.  Many homes even older have the same drains but seem to be less hassle to repair.  Homes in my neighborhood have a problem with improper supply lines (wrong type of copper) which break due to corrosion.  Just make sure the contractor you hire to go over the property with you has done significant work on homes in the area on similar homes.

Handyman reviews in Ormond Beach

He was fabulous! He took care of everything. He even met with the city to see what needed to be done because I have a pool. I would so recommend him! I will definitely call him again. Nothing but good to report!
- Sheri S.

Nick, , and showed up on time to do the work. They got busy performing the work right away. I ran out of latches for the plantation shutters and Nick went to Home Depot to buy some more. When the grill was assembled, we checked it out and Nick showed me how to use it. When the shelves were put up in ...More the garage, Nick and helped me move some boxes to the shelves. I had two problems with my sinks - on two sinks, the plunger was not working and on another sink, there was a huge clog. I had ordered a ceiling fan from Amazon that had not yet arrived by the time they were finished with the work. They actually came back later that afternoon once FedEx had delivered the fan (a little poor planning on my part not to have the fan already there when they started) - but they were very accommodating. I feel like I definitely got my money's worth and plan to use them on a landscaping job.

I called and he answered the phone first time (on the weekend). He told me to call ; I called and came to my house, as we agreed, and took all the information to get me a quote. He then had my quote ready the next day. came and ...More did the work. was very professional, 100% on time, 100% completed the job, did what he said he was going to do, worked the whole time he was on the clock, charged me as agreed. He also allowed me to add on some work I needed done. I really appreciate 's work ethic and professionalism and I will definitely call him again. Thank you !
- cindy S.

Mr. came by today to hang the curtain brackets, which he did very precise and quickly. When it came to hanging the picture, he floored me with how diligently he measured and re-measured to make sure the frame is hanging straight. I absolutely would recommend that you give him a call for any work that needs to be done.
- Manuela R.

We shopped around on price to install a new front door. Lowe's was offering installation at $290. This company responded very quickly to my inquiries and were very nice however they said a front door is an "all day" job and quoted me over $800! My grandmother installed her own front door so I know that while not an easy task, our standard ...More size front door should not take 8 hours to install (mind you, this is just to install it, not including the cost of the door). Also, when I emailed with questions on rates they called me and asked me to call them back which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. If I had time to call I would have, so it was a bit of a waste of time to email.
- Tiara N.

After reading the reviews I knew I was taking a with having them show up on time. I had a scheduled window of 5-7 pm for them to come and do an estimate. At 6:20 I received a call from them saying that they had run into a problem at their last job and they would not be able to come at all. I had rushed home from a wake and ...More my husband rushed home from work to make sure we were here when they arrived. Needless to say, I was extremely frustrated and disappointed. The woman who called then told me that they were very busy in the upcoming weeks, but she could call me back to schedule a new appointment. I told her I was all set. I will be finding someone else. What a let down.
- Jillian K.

I fixed an appointment initially
They cancelled it saying I can only use the service after December
I told them I should not have bought it if they would have advertised up front
They asked me to again book the appointment
They cancelled it again
I asked them to refund my money because their schedule system is confusing
- Srini P.

First the bad part: I submitted my work request using the company's web form. When I hadn't heard back from them, I e-mailed. When I hadn't heard back I phoned. Phoning worked very well, I got a call back within a couple of hours, and the owner blamed his computer guy for the other issues. I do know that e-mail now works well since I've ...More used it to communicate with them since, so that part is better.
Now the good part: the workman who came out, Angel, was right on time, he took pride in his work, and we had no difficulty discussing what he was doing or why.
The downspout issue was a much bigger job than I had anticipated because the whole stack had moved a couple of inches and required more support downstream before it could be pushed back up to the gutter (which, by the way, was 'way up on the side of the building). But he figured it out. Time, and the next rainstorm, will tell.
To reattach the light fixture, Angel had to remove two screws that were firmly corroded into the fixture so that he could take it apart. He first tried a lot of WD40 and time, and when this didn't work he drilled them out. He had screws on hand to use as replacements.
To reattach the shower bench, he (actually his assistant/trainee) took the bench off and cleaned up the decade's worth of shower ick that had accumulated. Then he replaced the tiny plastic anchors that had originally been used with much heftier ones, and screwed the thing back together.
As a bonus, Angel had a trainee along who did several useful things to make the job go better, and for whose work I was charged nothing extra.
