I had an extremely positive experience working with

The staff was friendly, professional, competent, and worked with me on an unexpected scheduling conflict. I am extremely satisfied with the work and with the experience, and I highly recommend using

Called Specialty Roofing office on Tue 29 Jul requesting an estimate. Provided address with work and home phone numbers both of which have answering machines. Was advised that a Project lead would be calling me. Received no return call. Called Specialty roofing office again on Fri 1 Aug. Explained that I had called earlier in the week and had not received a call back from the project lead. The lady was apologetic and said they would have the project lead contact me. Received no return call. On Wed 6 Aug, I visited Specialty Roofing office at 94 Ready Ave since it is near where I work and asked for the owner. The lady was again apologetic, said the owner was out on a job and called

who she said was assigned as project lead. She gave me

's business card with cell number. I called
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
--he was apologetic and we arranged to have an estimate done on Fri morning as I was taking the day off to work on the house. I called him at 8:30AM to let him know I was there. He didn't show up until 1:00PM.
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
advised how long the work would take (less than half a day) and that they could do the job in about 2 weeks. I provided
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
with 2 documents--1 outlining specifically what work I needed done and the 2nd with roof dimensions. Both documents had my address, home & work phone numbers, and my email address to send the estimate to.
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he would send me the estimate over the weekend. On Tue, 12 Aug I still had not received the estimate. I called
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and he said he was having trouble coordinating a price for 1 item with his supplier. I advised him to give me the estimate using an alternate product he has on hand. On

14 Aug at 4:00PM I called

again as I still had not received an estimate. He claimed he had emailed it to me on Tue after our phone call--there was nothing from him in either my Inbox or Junk mail. He said he was headed to a mtg for an estimate and would go to the office afterwards and send me the estimate. Checked email

night and received nothing from

On my roof leaking issue. The estimate was to replace rotten sheathing and install new
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
in seal over leaking areas. The problem turned out to be only cracked tiles, the felt paper and sheathing were in good condition. The workers had to go out and purchase the 27 new tiles and install them, the job was completed in 3/4 of the day ( including the time to go and pick up new tiles). I was hoping since the job required less work then what the estimate was for, I would get a discounted price. They didn't come off the $1850 price. The work was done excellent and I've had NO leaks since they did the repair. I do feel the price was very high for 3/4 of a days work and purchasing 27 new tiles.

I had scheduled an estimate for Saturday morning and received the estimate by email just before lunch time. When I called to inquire about the low cost, I was informed that it was for only 1 of the 2 roof leaks. She complained that I wasn't at the home when the estimate was done. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. In my many years of experience in customer service, the customer is always right and you don't argue with the customer. It was simply a miscommunication. And what's sad, is that I was speaking with the owner. I hate to leave a negative review, but her attitude was uncalled-for.

Initial company oversight caused a delay in shingles order and a reschedule of roof installation. Contract stated reflashing chimney was included in price but that would not have happened, even with the replacement of some roof decking around chimney, without my constant observation and insistence on that being done. The Job was completed in one day as advertised. If the property owner has a Florida Room addition to their home, I would recommend Specialty Roofing, which provided me with a very detailed list of tasks that would be performed without prompting, and promised an English speaking foreman on-site during the entire job.

inspected my roof, made minor repairs as needed, took before and after pictures, and discussed the overall condition of my 16 year old roof. He was very courteous, honest and forthright.

said he thought my roof would be good for at least a few more years. The next time I need contracting work done, I will definitely give

He showed up in the time frame we scheduled. He checked the whole roof, then fixed the leak in about a 1/2 hour. We had a record 20" of rain the next week and not a single leak. We are very happy with the work that was done. He sent us a proposal for some suggestions he has to prolong the life of our roof.

We first noticed a wet spot in the ceiling after the torrential downpours in
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
2013. I immediately contacted several roofers for estimates. Unfortunately for me, this was about the same time everyone else on the Emerald Coast noticed their own roof issues as well. Of the 5 roofers I contacted, Specialty was one of 3 who returned my call and set up an appointment. None of the 3 made it to their appointment, but Specialty was the only one who called ahead of time to tell me he wouldn’t make it. We set up a couple more appointments and rescheduled a couple more times. We eventually met when Specialty was repairing my neighbor’s roof. They gave me an estimate of $2,400 to pull off some of the cement tiles, put down peel and stick, and put everything back together. They ended up performing a little more work than they said needed to be accomplished, but the bill came in at $2,400. When done, he advised me to start saving money for a new roof because mine would need to be replaced in 2-3 years. The work performed was exceptional.

We had a spot on our tile roof that was leaking.

removed an area of the tile, replaced some rotten decking and framing and replaced the tile with proper underlay and flashing.

In a sentence: These people are completely incompetent at fulfilling the role of General Contractor.
Specific Areas of Deficiency
1. Scheduling. They were supposed to start in mid-June. Then it was 'oh, well, this is running over, I have to be out of town. I need to do this and that." So they didn't start gutting until
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
3rd. And I do mean start. They did a partial gut, left a mess, then took several non-holiday week days off. It went down hill from there. Lack of scheduling ability created problem after problem. General contractor did not think ahead, did not attempt to schedule the next phase until a current phase was completed, did not communicate timelines or work expectations with subcontractors, did not order materials in a timely manner. A 10 day project stretched to seven weeks.
A General Contractor's main function is to coordinate the project.
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
completely failed to do this. Seven weeks for a
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
bathroom remodel is unacceptable.
2. Project Integration. If you hire out for a complete job, you expect that all those working on the job will work together. Not so with
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Every man for himself on this job. This caused numerous delays because not only did contractors not complete their own tasks in a manner to make the next task possible, they often didn't bother to complete their tasks at all, instead claiming 'not my job, next guy will do it' which of course didn't happen.
A General Contractor should have clearly delineated tasks for all subcontractors and employees.
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
completely failed to do this. Subcontractors refusing to finish work, refusing to work together, and refusing to clean up after themselves is unacceptable.
3. Incompetent Subcontractors. So many of the people that worked on this bathroom were lazy, unreliable, and incompetent. The drywall sub never once showed up on time, if he even showed up at all. Took him four days to patch a couple walls. The tile contractor took ten days, fourteen if you count the days he just never bothered to show up. It was at most a four day job, and over the ten days he probably did about two days worth of work. The tile contractor also measured several things wrong, substituted cheap materials in several places, mixed the grout incorrectly, and DAMAGED OR OUTRIGHT STOLE SEVERAL ITEMS FROM OUR GARAGE. The painting contractor was so busy completing work not done by others (repairing drywall, sealing grout, caulking) that the walls and doors only got one coat of paint.
The original plumber left the job before it was completed because it went so beyond schedule. The replacement was a joke that did a terrible job and was creepy to boot. And the people that did the marble were beyond terrible. Measured wrong then made everyone work around them, produced a mediocre product that is not standing up to even light use.
A General Contractor should hire competent employees and subcontractors, people who work with integrity.
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
completely failed to do this. Substandard work, substandard products, theft, and wasting time are unacceptable.
4. Lack of Professionalism. There were so many instances of this. Contractor's direct employees not showing up for work. Purchasing of the wrong items then trying to get us to accept the
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
products. Contractor even "forgot" that he needed to pay for the cabinetry up front, forcing us to pay them directly or face another 1-2 week delay in the project.
A General Contractor should conduct himself at all times in a professional manner.
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
completely failed to do this. Hiding mistakes, asking the homeowner to 'cover' for your mistakes, and attempting theft by bait and switch are unacceptable.
After further work by us and people we hired to fix the problems created, the bathroom is finally okay. But it took additional money and time beyond what we paid and the already out of bounds seven weeks that this project took over our lives. I would never recommend
Niceville Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to anyone.
