Letter written to the owner which resulted in no response
I am writing to you personally after many attempts to reach you by phone to resolve or settle our moving claims. It has been 22 days since our move and I still have not been able to get a clear response to the repair or replacement of the damage or broken items I experience during the move.
came and glued the table leaf and did some repair to the
. However, he
still needs to return to finish the job. He could not give me no clear date as to when that might be.
When I engaged your service it was after a research of recommended movers. I got three bids. Besides knowing you personally,
your company came highly recommended by several people, my realtor and Angie’s list. Your bid was similar to the others
but because of our personal connection,
and I chose your company. At the time of the estimate, we discussed a
second drop to storage and a possible drop at our son’s. I restated to your receptionist, when I booked the move date that we would need to drop items off at storage.
The day of the move, your driver arrived on time and I was feeling good about the move. That started to change when he became very upset about a second drop and things went downhill from that point on. I had clearly marked the boxes for storage with labels written in large print the word STORAGE and highlighted them with yellow. Several times during the morning, he asked
what was “storage” and I repeated and pointed out the storage items. There was some damage done to the bedroom door
while moving out and the top on my
cabinet was broken. I asked that they not lift it by the top and he said OLD furniture just brakes easy?!? I repaired it as best as possible before it left the house.
We then went to storage (which was only a few blocks from our new home) and dropped off what I thought was storage items. I did not inspect the items as I was tired of the driver’s complaints about the 2nd drop. My husband was there to assist them Then he gave him $100 to give $20 to each of the movers for lunch. I
’t know if they got it as none of them ever said anything about it or said Thank you.
At the new home, I had made a diagram of what went where and color coded it. The boxes were marked with pictures to show their placement. No one seemed to read the markings or diagram. I had to direct every move. Half way though, my husband told me there were boxes in the garage below the unit. He tried to tell the driver they went upstairs and he said I told him they were storage. Storage was already dropped off at U Haul so I
’t know why he though the parking garage was OK especially since they were marked FRAGILE /CHINA/ Dining room. I went to the truck where he was smoking and asked them to be moved upstairs and he continued
to argue about the storage ‘thing’. I asked him to not smoke around our boxes and furniture. At his rude response, I turned and walked
away. In a
, he stacked the fragile boxes 3 and 4 high and dumped them inside the front door.
As the damage became apparent, his indifferent comments about old furniture, ‘it happens’ and total indifference to the amount of damage was most upsetting. The other movers were respectful and helpful.
When we finished and he presented the bill, I asked why it was more than the estimate and his comment was that the 2nd drop
caused it. Several days after the move I found five boxes in the condo that should have gone to storage and in storage I found three more boxes that were not marked for storage. He clearly had a problem with the storage drop!
You (
) came the second day to see all the damage and forgot the claim form but fixed the dining room table. I finally got a
claim form after several calls. I filled it out and sent a letter regarding estimate cost for repair. It has been 22 days since our move and I still do have an answer about the chair, lamp, missing crystal (all were packed or wrapped by your movers).
, the items I packed moved without a single problem. The items that were broken or damage happened by your movers. With all the great letters, and recommendations, I expected nothing to be damage. Clearly the damaged happen because my items were not loaded or packed in the van correctly. Now, 22 days later, I still have not heard from you regarding the repairs or replacement of the lamp, crystal, or chair. The broken leaves have been fixed but still show the brake and have some areas of raised wood and the
is not finished.
How and when can we resolve and finish this move? Every time I walk in and see my favorite
chair with three holes in the back, I get very upset over again. This chair had been my Dad’s and I had it
recovered ten years ago. It has very special memories. I plan to have it recovered and I need to know how you plan to resolve it. I have already purchased a new lamp since you told me to and I sent you the cost for the replacement. I have no idea how I can find a matching crystal for the lamp.
I am sorry this move did not go as either of us expected, but I want to move ahead and can’t until we can resolve all the issues. I paid
the full amount of the moving expecting you would take care of the damage. With other contractors, if there is a problem, I would hold back a portion until the project is finished. I trusted you would resolve it honorably.
P.S. Several days later I was told they would give me $60 dollars to re cover the chair which is only %10 of the estimate I got. He argued that the insurance only covers .60 cents on a pound. BUT I argued that this was not an accident , it was gross neglect by the mover/ driver who had a attitude problem. Even with the glued wood items that were broken, I guesstimated about $800 in repair or replacement costs for the chair, lamp and crystal which had intentional damage.

They stood up me up for an estimate, causing me to waste an hour waiting for them at a house where I no longer live.
We arranged for them to give me an estimate on a Sunday, but Saturday they called to see if we could do it then. I wasn't available, but after a couple conversations, they asked me how about Monday? I said I could do it after 5 pm. They said they'd call me around 5 or 6 pm. I explained that I no longer lived at (or near) the house, so I needed an appointment. We arranged for a 5 pm appointment. I waited over 45 minutes. No one showed up, and they never called me to say they couldn't make it.

They were very professional. The items were treated with respect and great care. The move went smoothly and the job was completed under time and under expense that was quoted. We are very happy and would use them again.

It is hard to envision how our move could have gone better. There were a few issues related to communication and the handling of an elaborate grandfather clock, but those are minimal in the bigger context of a very large long distance move.
A rep from 1st Clss visited our
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
City house to estimate the move. He was coridal and efficient, and answered all our questions. We got two other quotes (also from home visits) from different moving companies, and with discounts for Angies List, and for paying in cash, the
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
quote was about half of the other two.
We bought boxes and supplies from
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
. The initial buy was delivered to our house, and we went to the warehouse for additional things. Prices and quality were very good, and all staff encounted were extremely friendly and service oriented. The warehouse looked clean and well maintained.
Move day went as smooth as glass. We had a crew chief and 4 additional guys. Each of them were friendly, worked hard, and showed care for our house and possessions. They did terrific work wrapping our furniture, and the few difficult/large/fragile items we asked them to pack (or crate) for us. We had no damage in our house.
Delivery day got a late start, but ultimately also went extremely well. The driver was hard to understand on a cell phone, but after things got started we liked him very much. He had to find a local crew to help him, and also had to shuttle the load to our house in a smaller rental truck that could manuver in our neighborhood (took 4 loads on the smaller truck). The local crew (3 guys) he found were great. Just as in
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
City, they each worked hard, were polite, and showed care for our house and possessions.
We had fixable problems with the inner workings of our grandfather clock, and a noticable leg scratch on a piece of wood furniture, but no other damages to 17,000 pounds of possessions travelling 1100 miles, and handled at least 5 times (house to truck, to warehouse, to truck, to shuttle truck, to house). Remarkable in a good way.
The cost of the move was also remarkable in a good way.
Nothing this big and complex could be perfect, and our most notable "nick" would have been a desire for more proactive communication, especially after the load was packed and in transit. Also, note that interstate moves like ours means that different teams load and unload, and that the unload part is most likely going to be sub-contractors rather than employees of
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
(especially in prime moving season). Assuming you get good people, no problem, but it is a bit of a crap shoot. It is worth mentioning that the sub-contractor driver mentioned that
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
was among the best nationwide moving companies he gets jobs from and that all the drivers like working for them.
Overall an outstanding job by this company.

2 gentlemen arrived with the truck exactly when I was told they would be there. They were both very polite and careful of my belongs. They worked well and efficiently together and got the job done in a timely manner. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the service I received.

Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
and Sons took the stress out of moving. It felt like family was there to help. After using many movers over the years, I can say they were without a doubt, the best by far. They were so courteous, and very professional. They did a wonderful job, and I had zero issues. It was raining during the move, and they made sure everything was covered from the time it took to get things out of the truck and into the house. They helped assemble furniture for me, and I didn't even have to ask. They were cautious carrying furniture through narrow hallways, and didn't scuff any walls. They went above and beyond my expectations. Their high level of expertise was evident. I would definitely recommend
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
& Sons to anyone looking for a reliable, professional moving company. I won't hesitate to pick their company when it comes time to move again.

I had called and gone over everything with their representative on the phone, what I had that needed to be moved. They gave me the hourly rate. When the men got there, they acted confused as to how to use the lift on the truck, and how to move the items. They said it would take one more guy to do the move in the time alloted, but didn't call for one. One guy kept disappearing who knows where, and one guy looked and acted exhaused. The one guy who did most of the work was kind of in charge, but they kept asking me what they should take next. They were unprepared; they didn't bring tools to break down the bed frame, and told me they'd have to leave it behind! I asked if they could call somebody to bring tools, and they refused. Then they told me, well this is taking too long, and we have another job, so we have to go! I was freaking out by this time. They got their manager on the phone, and he finally agreed they needed to stay and finish the job! They didn't pack the truck correctly, left over half the boxes, some of the furniture, and the bed frame! When they were moving the stuff into the house, they broke the screen door, and didn't even mention it. I called the manager back and he said he would send another truck to get the rest of the items, but he only sent a van. They got what they could in the van, and thankfully, the bed frame! So a four or five hour job took all day! It took me a week and willing friends to move the rest of what they left behind. The manager also said he would send $50 to cover the cost of repairing the screen door, but I never received it, even after calling and reminding them after a month! They moved like snails (after all, it IS an hourly rate), were over-priced, destructive, and dishonest. I'll never use them again.

EXCELLENT..........Guy's showed up on time & went at it. They were great, it was like watching a symphony watching
Marianna Movers Provider Name Locked
& his partner work like a well oiled machine. No damage at all, no long breaks, I believe they took one break for 5 minutes loading & no breaks unloading. It wasn't the usual one guy carrying a lamp, while the other guy carries the piano. These guy's know how to get the job done & professional in doing it.
I'd hire them again without hesitation.
don't forget to tip the guy's for a job well done if you too are satisfied....They really kick some butt.
