"Our 2 children have been at this school for a few months. Overall we are happy with it. The baby room is large and comfortable and staff seem to have everything" under control. Same goes for the next room (when they turn 1 year old). The pre-kindergarten program is very good. My child seems to be learning A LOT and he likes it there. I would recommend it. they also have an after school program there too that we will consider if needed next year.

"Filthy conditions within this daycare. The kitchen is a mess. The highchairs have month old dried food stuck to them. I have seen mice in the facility as well" as black bugs running around. They said they've sprayed for the bugs and you do see them dead as well as live ones. When it rains very hard there are also worms inside the building. The baby beds have plastic wrapped around the bars so the kids don't get stuck but that plastic is covered in sticky residue and food.

Daycare Center reviews in Fernandina Beach

I would like to make one correction. Angie's list has
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
Preschool and kindergarten listed as a child care center. It is not a childcare center. It is a school. I have sent three children to this school. My oldest is now 14 and my youngest recently graduated from the school. The
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
program is a truly amazing education program. I was amazed year after year that all of my children were reading by the age of three years old. They also knew all the continents. I have been very pleased with the entire program. Their staff is very well trained and they truly loved my children-- which is what every mother hopes for their child. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful. I was surprised the first time I visited my child's classroom. The teacher ring A tiny little dinner down and the entire room stop what they were doing, put their work away neatly, and sat down on the rug, without saying a word. When I realized my child was capable of cleaning up after herself without having to be told, things changed at our house. I highly recommend this program.

My child attended this daycare for a year. Throughout that
year, I witnessed the quality of the daycare reduce significantly. During my
child's time there, there were several staff members that came and went and
there would be no acknowledgement or reason for the teacher’s absence. I
witnessed the staff members and teachers whispering and gossiping daily as I
would arrive to pick my child up. The owner
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
is extremely rude and has
absolutely no people skills. Some days she will walk by and speak and on other
days she would not. The focus is no longer on learning in this facility. The
staff members are overpaid baby sitters. The curriculum that I paid for was not
being implemented. There are over 30 students in the 3 year old classes with
only one teacher and
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
to supervise.
My child had a new teacher and within weeks the teacher
disappeared. No one decided to share this information with the parents. I had
to ask management, and they stated that things did not work out with that
teacher. I was assured that my child would have a new teacher within a week,
but 2 months later there was no new teacher. There was a teenage girl in the
class that the management said was "helping them out until they find a
replacement". Initially I was reluctant to remove my child from this
daycare (absolutely will not call it a learning academy) because I did not want
to take my child from their friends, but I am finding that most of them have
been switched to other facilities as well.
Upon enrolling my child, the staff assured me that spanish
and sign language would be taught, but my child was never taught any.
They pride themselves on the fact that there are no tv's in
the classrooms, however they take the children into the theater to watch disney
movies daily.
There were several days I arrived to pick up my child and
the class would be empty. I would ask management or other teaches where the
class was. They would respond by shrugging their shoulders and saying look in a
different room. This is not what any parent should experience after being away
from their child the full work day.
This facility does not keep parents updated on their child’s
progress. There are no report cards or learning updates provided.
I would not recommend anyone take their child to this
daycare. It is not a comfortable environment for children and there is not
focus on learning.

They are great and very professional. They have a curriculum and are very hands on. The meals are pretty good and they make them everyday. The director, Miss
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
, is extremely professional and does an excellent job at running the program. They get the parents involved, as well. It is well worth the money and they even have a daycare assistance program. I am having a baby this year and I would be comfortable trusting them with my

We stopped by without an appointment for a tour. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. When the time came, they were able to open a spot for my daughter. She has been going for 2 weeks now and is doing really well. The teachers work with the children to help them develop age appropriate skills. My daughter is always happy at this facility.

My daughter really struggled with the transition from staying at home to daycare but GKA did so good with her. They would work with her one on one and provide her with what she needed at the time to adjust. She also had a hard time adjusting to napping on a schedule and they were just so accommodating to her needs and schedule until she caught on. She now enjoys going there and doesn't want to leave at the end of the day. This is just such a great place and everyone who works there is so amazing and genuine towards the kids.

The teachers and staff provide superb and consistent pre-school and after school services for my grandson. The school is in our local community and the student/teacher ratio seems appropriate. My grandson loves attending their school…he happily jumps into activities when he arrives in the morning. When I pick him up in the evening he is playing with other children or one of the teachers. The facility has a nice fenced playground with sand footing. Homework projects, reading logs and monthly lesson plans are all sent home to keep family informed on what the children are learning!
- Margaret W.

The person who gave us the tour did a fine job. She seemed knowledgable and invested in the daycare center. What we didn't like were:
1) The facility - it seemed more gloomy and cluttered and closed in than other centers we toured.
2) The level of professionalism of some staff/teachers -dressed in dirty, holy clothes, had greasy hair...it just turned me off. That aside, she was kind and engaged with our child in the 5 minutes she saw her.
3) The menu. ATROCIOUS. Some of the menu items for lunch were: corn dogs, pizza rolls, chicken nuggets... I asked why they fed this stuff to kids and whether there were other options and was told "This food is FDA approved and kid friendly." That's not food and it's not friendly to anyone - it's laden with toxic additives.
What we did like:
1) The responsiveness of the staff
2) The price. It was cheaper than comparable options. It is not accredited but I'm not sure how much that matters for kids as young as mine.
We ended up choosing a bilingual school that serves organic food.

My wife and I have been taking our son to
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
since October of this year. As he is our first child and in daycare for the first time we really did not know what to expect. We called and took a tour with
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
that week. They had several openings in the Infant room and we were able to get in without a wait list immediately.
Everything has exceeded our expectations in just a few short months. The teachers in the infant room that he is in are amazing and genuinely seem to have his best interest at heart. They sometimes text us pictures and are in constant contact throughout the day.
You are responsible for all of the diapers, wipes, formula/breastmilk when your child is in the infant room. For 4 days a week we are paying $255/week. It is a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for. We have needed to change which day of the week he doesn't come several times, and they are more than willing to work with our schedule when we need them to. Every time i drop him off or pick him up, the teachers never seem overwhelmed and they always have a good handle on the small class size.
The director
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
is great and is always very proactive about keeping us in the loop.
I would absolutely recommend this
Fernandina Beach Childcare Centers Provider Name Locked
to anyone looking for child care.
