Angie's Answers

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
This is a good question.  However, the question makes the assumption that there is a paint that covers everything in 1 coat, which I don't believe is the case.  My recommendation is Benjamin Moore's Aura.  Now the fine print.  Aura will cover very well because it dries to approximately twice the thickness of other paints.  However, Aura says it will cover any color in never more than 2 coats, but there are exceptions to that as well, including some deep reds.  The main thing is the color change.  If the color you are using is within the same family of colors, you have a chance, we've also had pretty good success of grey covering over tan in 1 coat, but if you're making a major color change, don't expect any paint to cover perfectly in 1 coat.

Some other 1 coat coverage paints you could use would be Sherwin Williams Duration, and Behr Ultra Premium Plus.

Hope this helps!
Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!
Yes - absolutely!  Refinishing is THE VERY BEST way to go to avoid tearing out a perfectly good bathtub that just LOOKS bad after years of use.  Go to the link below for some before and after refinishing pictures of acrylic tubs.

House Painting reviews in Dunnellon

They were prompt. The painters were friendly and professional. It all went exactly as discussed. There were a few missed spots here and there, but i touched up later. Nothing i couldn't handle. For the price, the job was an excellent value.

We had a short time line and the owner
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was a blessing. He is very polite and well mannered and knows his art. He provided us with excellent advice regarding the paint job and was very forthcoming about his perception, ideas, and pricing. In the end we were very impressed by the amount of work done in a short span of time and the quality of work.
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
went out of his way to make sure that we were completely satisfied with his work. He spent extra time whenever he found an issue. I was impressed by the way he took care of his guys and the way he worked. Each morning,
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
would set our expectations for the day and then assign tasks to each person in his team. Once the person has finished his work,
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
acted as the quality control guy and had each person in his team fix any issues we had. Before leaving for the day,
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
would let us know what to expect for the next day and his team arrived at 8:30 AM precisely each day. The end result was a paint job that was exceptional and it was very hard to find faults in his work. We feel like we are in a totally new house. Thank you
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
for doing such a good job. You deserve five stars for your work and politeness

Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his team did a great job removing the border and painting my family room. I had to change the color of paint after he started painting and it was no problem, he was very understanding- he just had me choose another color and came back the next day. He was very professional and completely trustworthy. My family room looks great. I highly recommend Mr
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and would definitely use him again.

Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was punctual and likes to start early which helped with having to leave for work in the morning. He was trustworthy and I felt comfortable leaving him in my home.
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was clean and cleaned up each day. He communicated well regarding when he would arrive and he
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
out soon after an initial call for a free estimate. His prices were fair. He did not charge extra to move furniture in the rooms and he covered things as necessary as to not cause any damage to my belongings. I liked the work he did and brought him back to paint my garage and downstairs bathroom most recently.
- Andrew N.

The additional costs were very reasonable. The job was completed in less than a week between periods of rainy days. Cleanup was perfect. They are extremely professional. I felt that they went the extra mile in everything. It was so well done, much more than with your average painters. They really went out of their way to cover everything and ensure it was done right the first time. My experience with them was great! I have already used them three more times since this job.
- Nicole A.

Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his crew pressure washed all siding, doors, windows, and trim on our house. They also scraped and sanded all raw areas and caulked over 300 ft of lines on siding, butt joints, and nail heads. They then painted all doors, window frames, sashes, soffits, fascia, siding and foundation and did any other necessary repairs. They did an awesome job and I would definitely call them again for any other painting needs.

We contacted

Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and she showed up promptly on time and quickly gave us an estimate. We had obtained several other estimates and although
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was not the lowest we felt after talking to
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
, her company was the right choice. We previously had a bad experience with kitchen cabinet painters when we built a house in Galveston and we did not want another bad job. The painters showed up on time every day and worked steadily to complete the job.
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
, the lead painter, was very professional and went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with the finish. Our house was built in 1986 and it had stained oak cabinets.
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
sprayed 3 coats of primer to remove the grain so we could have a smooth finish.
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
his co-worker who did sanding and texture was also great . We initially chose a hybrid paint product because it does not have as bad a smell / fumes as enamel but
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
recommended traditional enamel paint. They said the hybrid paints which use a water-oil formula had issues with not drying out properly. The job took longer than we thought (2 weeks) but we were ok with it as long as the job was done right.
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
did not require a down payment and
Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
said no money was due until they were finished and we were satisfied. We would highly recommend

Dunnellon Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was prompt & listened to everything we asked for. He was honest and collaborative. He actually returned the following day to test which products were best for our home. Never felt he tried to over estimate the work. He's pricing was the most reasonable out of 4 Angie's list businesses. Professional, hardworking & knows his craft.
I would recommend him highly.
