"I ordered cabinets, mirrors and plumbing fixtures with the help of the designer. All of the staff was awesome and the design experience was" easier than expected. My materials came in quickly and were delivered right away. Everything was seamless. Although they are new, is an amazing showroom with beautiful high end unique products as well as moderately priced merchandise (something for everyone).

"After spending $100 for an estimate on an ice maker repair, a few weeks later, with no estimate in hand, I call. The quote is, and I don't have it in front" of me so this is by memory only, $700 (on top of the $100 already paid - total cost $800)! To replace our ice maker and a control panel card in the back of the fridge. Hmmm. .. I say. "Can you give us the part numbers? We'd like to explore doing this ourselves." "I'm sorry, 'am. Our policy is to only give out part numbers if you put down a deposit to do the work." Ok. . . Now I'm getting a little steamy. "We paid $100 to get the fridge diagnosed. Are you saying you aren't now going to give us the diagnosis unless we do the work with you? If that's the case, you should have been clear about this before you came out." To his credit, the person on my phone did see my point. "You might want to call my manager," he suggested. 3 messages later I finally got ahold of her. "we've been trying to contact you." "Really," I think, that's interesting. To her credit, she did give us the part numbers. My husband fixed the fridge. Total cost to us: $100 - Diagnosis by & Scarf $180 - Parts Done. And done with & Scarf. Next appliance shop we will check out another vendor. Oh, and when I suggested $800 was a lot to pay for an ice maker on a fridge that cost us on sale less than $2,000, they mentioned, "Well, you could always buy a new fridge. . . . "

Personal opinion but I will not buy another front load washing machine again.  They simply do not clean clothes as well as the old agitator style washers do.  In the summer when I am hot and sweaty I have to wash shirts at least twice, sometimes up to four times to get the stink out.  Also, while they may save water per load washed, they run a lot longer.  My old washing machine took about 20 minutes to wash a load of clothes.  The front loader takes about an hour.  What it saves on water it more than makes up for in electricity I'm sure running three times as long.  Our front loader has not leaked but it doesn't do the job for my clothes.  Maybe someone sitting in an office all day has fewer problems having to rewash clothes.

As for appliance brand recommendations I have no particular favorites.  They all seem to be disposable these days, often costing as much to repair as to replace.  Samsung has made some good appliances as of late I've heard a lot of good reviews about from customers.  I've got a customer who bought a Kenmore refrigerator when they built the house.  The ice maker has gone out and the replacement part isn't any better since it's a known defect according to the appliance repairman they had look at it.  It was just past the warranty so they didn't pay for another part to be installed that was going to fail again.  Since Kenmore is made by other companies I'm sure they aren't the only one with this problem.  We live in a disposable society.  I look at how well it works, the warranty and cost and weigh the last two of those after kicking out the ones with bad reviews on that model.

Depends a lot on your current configuration. Rough numbers, $4-7,000 for the generator including autostart and automatic load transfer circuit box and master breakers (usually all come on the generator).

Installation (with pad already inplace and gas hookup - about $500-1000.

Electrical about $800 minimum, to maybe $2500. The $800 will get you a simple transfer switch installation but if you want some household circuits to run on the generator but others not, depending on how your current wiring is run, can run to $2000 to pull existing circuits to a new panel.

The problem is that all circuits that are going to be on the generator, unless you are planning to carry the entire household load, have to go to a separate circuit breaker panel which is fed off the automatic transfer switch, so they get power from either the power company or the generator, depending on which is providing power at the moment. That means the circuits running off either source have to be disconnected from your current breaker box, extended (commonly) over to the new box, and hooked up. All other circuits stay on your current breaker box, to run only off the public power when it is on. If the generator is large enough capactiy for your entire house load of course it costs more, but this circuit termination point moving is not needed, so electrical work drops way off to basically a connection box with the transfer switch.

A couple of words of advice - pay attention to weather protection, fire barrier between the unit and the house (including issues of overhead decks that can catch fire), automatic fire shutoff/suppression, and trickle charging from house power to generator battery. Also read CAREFULLY your power comopany rules on generator installation (commonly requires their signoff), any code restrictions on generators and noise in your area, and if your insurance rate will go up. (It definitely does if you have a fuel tank, I don't know if it does with natural gas-fired generators.)

Welcome to the world of Google ! Google this search phrase - dual fuel downdraft convection oven range

You will find a number of brands that make dual-fuel ranges with convection oven - Jenn-air of course, and GE, Bosch, Kitchenaid, Maytag, LG, Samsung, Wolf, Frigidaire, Thermador, Viking all sellin the US. Almost all major brands make this a dual-fuel convection oven range - find model(s) you like, then start checking with local vendors to see who sells them locally - the big home improvement box stores and Sears, Best Buy for starts.

However, the bad news - according to an article I found, only Jenn-Air still makes downdraft stovetops, although I did find one blog notation about a person buying a European Viking with downdraft. Basically the fan capability in downdraft ranges is just not enough to capture the odors and grease and steam coming off a cooktop, so the other brands all dripped it and recommend an over-stove powered vent hood. Most downdraft units had about a 1/10HP fan that pulled about 300 cfm - the same as a modern bathroom fan,, when to actually cause a reverse (downward) airflow over a range requires more like 1000 cfm or more causing a downward airflow of about 10-20 mph - which would make for a little private windstorm around your stove. People also found they did not like the reduced oven size to accomodate the fan unit.

Thermador and Dacor and probably others make behind the range vent units that stick up a foot or two and pull some of the fumes from the rangetop, though reviews say their performance is iffy and basically only affects the rear burners.

My recommendation - go with an overhead vent hood and eliminate the greasy buildup and high humidity in the kitchen that go with downdraft ranges - you will also pay about half a much as for a Jenn-Air downdraft unit.

Appliance Store reviews in Wilmington

I went to an estate sale, looking for a washer and dryer. I bought several little things from but the big ticket item was a stackable washer/dryer and I didn't realize it was European so the plugs didn't work. I also bought a regular dryer that needed a new plug/adapter to even work. I paid $535 on my credit card. ...More When I went to pick it up, I was told I owed them more cash which wasn't the case. I gave him the cash and got the equipment. I also bought a freezer which had the electrical cord cut off so there was no plug. I had to go to a hardware store several times to get an adapter for the dryer. The other two pieces are worthless because they're from Europe and I need an electrician to take care of that. I tried to get my money back and he told me "You can have your lawyer call my lawyer." I've left numerous messages with them with no response. He blatantly lied to me about the price. He was arrogant and rude to me over the phone. I'm going to the bank to fill out a fraud report, among other things.

If best buy gives you a gift card to get it in writing so that your no billed because they're gift cards are not free and they will charge you inappropriately. It took 7 months of going back and forth between billing and the store and they do not talk to each other and we are just now getting these charges resolved. My citi card which sponsors ...More best buy had investigated it after I made a complaint because of the unknown charges. They gave me my money back for the late charges and interest. At least I no longer owe them.

Their selection is a little bare, but exactly what most people are looking for. They only carry brands they can service in-house, and do all of the work themselves - all of their brands are manufactured together under different labels. Their installation was professional and thorough, and it was great to not go through a random subcontractor.

Bought a dishwasher last saturday and schedule a delivery the following Tuesday (between 3 to 7pm)....driver never show up. So I did reschedule another delivery for the following Thursday asking a smaller windo (4 to 6pm)...and AGAIN the driver after calling to tell me he was on his way DIDNT SHOW UP. Call the office talked to 10 people... absolutely ...More incompetent, told they will call me back and they didnt. Left a message for the owner... no call back. I did ask to get a free delivery after all the headache and their answer was to cancel my order. HORIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Long story short: bought the same dishwasher cheaper from another appliance company with agreat service. NEVER AGAIN GERHARDS. They really don't care and should really get another delivery service guy. Wanted to share that with the world! THERE IS SOME OTHERS STORE APPLIANCES IN PA MUCH BETTER THAT GERHARDS

,Please don't get me wrong, this is a nice home town store. BUT when something is wrong or there is a problem, forget it-they offer you no help out at all. my salesperson said this fabric was easy to take care of, well i now have a stains all over the place, they do not come out. and the insurance is a joke. and as far as a store warranty ha-ha. ...More so long story short i know am dealing with a very very saggy sofa. we have had to put boards underneath the cushions. my husband and me both have back problems- it sets horrible now. i never wanted my money back- just some new furniture.

Working with on the design of the layout was an enjoyable experience. He worked with us through many iterations and changes, making helpful suggestions to get us to consider options we may never have considered on our own. Despite some inaccuracies in the engineering drawings and some unforeseen construction issues, he was able ...More to come up with a late redesign that kept us from losing several of the key options we desired. He gave us accurate updates on the construction status of our cabinets and they were actually ready for installation ahead of schedule. This is where the installer took over. Talk about a consummate professional... A true master of his craft. His attention to detail was amazing. I've never seen such well cut crown moldings. He even scribed the moldings in places where there were inconsistencies in the ceiling. All the cabinet faces line up, everything is level, just what you'd hope for when spending big dollars for custom cabinets. He really proved what a master he is when it was discovered that a cabinet over the refrigerator was found to be oversized. and quickly came up with plan A, and if that did not work, or was not to our liking, then we could go with plan B. Plan A was to see if could dismantle, resize, and reconstruct the cabinet. We opted to have him try, as it would have been 4 weeks to get a new cabinet built. Turns out, it was the right choice. Once he installed the cabinet, you would have thought that it had come from the manufacturer. We will have to wait for new doors, but that did not stall the installation. Once the installation was complete, the only complaint my wife had was the location I selected for the handles on the large pantry cupboard doors. made no assumptions about how or where we wanted the handles installed. When there was a possibility of multiple options, he did not assume, he asked, and gave me suggestions, and pros and cons of the choices. That shows true respect for the customers desires on what they want the finished product to look like. I was confused when he asked me if I had a sample of the tile that was going on the backsplash and up-to the ceiling behind the . His intent was to leave a recess for the subway tile to slip behind the crown molding, rather than having the tile try and cut the tile to match the profile of the crown molding. This is the kind of detail you want your installer to be thinking about. This is the exact opposite of what I got from my contractor who built the addition. If it was not in his area of responsibility, he didn't worry about it. You won't get that kind of attitude from the people at . Top notch, from sale to final install. If you are thinking about remodeling your kitchen, before you lock yourself in, give a call at . He will help you design the dream kitchen you always wanted, and will assemble it with the craftsmanship you just don't see much of anymore.

Paid for item
Brought it home
He hooked it up
1 hour later turned oven on and big ball of fire Came out caused by rusted valve in oven compartment Whole house smoked out. Called him at least 20 times 3 days Left messages no reply Very shady please don't buy from this crook. You will regret it

contacted them to see if they would buy my refrigerator. We exchanged several emails and I sent pictures of my refrigerator. they said they could come out and pick it up between and 8-9pm. we needed the rush because we had a new refrigerator arriving the next day. They were on time. They also had to do extra work by taking off the doors to get it ...More back out of the front door. They called the next day with what was actually wrong with the refrigerator and how much they would pay me for the refrigerator. Our home warranty company could not repair and refunded us apro-rated amount for the old refrigerator We went by their store alter that day and picked up our cash. The store was clean and a variety of things for sale. We dealt with and Jonny the technician. They were very nice. When we replace our washer and dryer with a new set, we plan on contacting them to sell our used set.
