"The person who cleaned our clothes dryer vent was professional, efficient, courteous and friendly, and he offered useful advice.

"It went horrible!!!. The first step was duct cleaning, as part of getting the AC unit installed by them. The duct cleaning crew arrived about one hour later than" had been promised. The next step was to get the AC unit installed. The 2-man crew took 9 hours installing a
AC compressor unit in the back yard. We have a single family home that had previously had central air so we don't understand why it took them such a long time. During the installation, we asked if the coil system should be installed over our already existing down-flow heating unit instead of under it. The installed assured us that the coil system could sit on top of our down-flow unit and cool the same as if he had installed it under the heating unit. I don't know if the installers were simply wanting to avoid having to remove the heating unit and found it easier to simply put the coil system atop the furnace. As we suspected, the AC unit was not cooling the house at all. The only thing that we were getting was small amounts of air, as all we had was a
fan. I called
to come out and inspect their installation, since the AC unit didn't seem to be operating as it should.
finally agreed to send out a technician to look at the problem. The technician didn't bother to check the AC unit or any of the installation work that the company had done. Instead, he simply stated that our vents were too small and that there was nothing for him to do and he left. I contacted
and asked to speak with a supervisor. At this time, I was transferred to someone named
. He stated that he was a supervisor. As I tried to explain our issue and concerns,
kept talking over me. He than proceeded to suggest that we might need an additional AC compressor unit installed to cool the second floor, where bedrooms are located. I informed him that our house was not that big and that the salesperson that they had initially sent out stated that the AC compressor unit was more than adequate to cool off the entire house. At no time did the salesperson or the guys that did the installation make any mention of our vents being too small.
, the supervisor, proceeded to try and sell us on buying an additional unit or having the house ducts aerosealed, which would have incurred an additional expense to us. Seeing that I was getting nowhere speaking with the supervisor, we decided to call a different company to come out to look at the AC unit, etc. We were informed by the new company that the coil system should not sit atop a down-flow heating unit because it would never cool properly and could potentially cause the heating unit to corrode with time. The new company took out the furnace and moved/placed the coil system underneath the furnace. After that was done, the AC unit worked as it should and cool air comes out of every vent, including vents in the second floor. We ended up having to pay an additional $700 to correct
's mistake. I contacted
regarding obtaining a refund for the $700 that we paid the other company.
stated that, aside from the copy of the receipt for the $700, they would need to come out to our house and "inspect" the work that had been completed by the other company. I took half a day off from work so that
could come out to "inspect" the work. They gave me a 9AM-12PM window. At 11:30AM, I received a call from
that the representative was running late and would be arriving after 1PM. I informed them that this was not acceptable and would need to reschedule.
(stated that he was the owner of
) arrived at our house on Saturday, August 29th to 'inspect" the work the other company had done.
proceeded to argue that the other company had not done the work properly and it became very apparent that he was trying to intimidate us into not pursuing a refund. He kept trying to talk over me and it was apparent that he had no intention of refunding us the money that we paid the other company to correct
's poor work. He stated that he had a $30 million company and had plenty of lawyers to defend
.
also stated that he could call the village and have an inspector out to our house and that we could be fined for not having the work "properly done". I informed him that we would not be intimidated and that he needed to leave our house. We purchased our home within the past year and there were no problems reported in the utility room, where the furnace is located. I would urge any one considering to do business with
to beware and think twice. And do not let them try in intimidate you.

Is Air Duct Cleaning Worth It?

Experts agree there is value to air duct cleaning, although there's no scientific evidence it improves air quality.

Air Duct Cleaning & Air Quality

The air you breathe indoors can become more polluted than outdoor air because it's trapped inside, allowing contaminants to accumulate. Many HVAC companies offer air duct cleaning services, but there's no scientific proof that air duct cleaning improves air quality.

Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

There are varying opinions on the type of cleaning to have done on your air ducts.  My opinion is that it varies based on the type of duct work you have.  If you have solid material (typically metal) ducting you can have use a company that uses a brush to scrape the system clean.  If you have flexible plastic or foil ducts the solvent cleaners are generally a safer bet since the brushes often tear holes in the soft material and/or pull joints loose.  It really depends on what type on ducting you have.  You're ducts will collect all kinds of dirt, skin cells and allergens over time so if you see dicoloration around your vents it is probably time to get them checked and cleaned.

Also, don't stop at the duct work.  Don't forget your annual system check up by a licensed HVAC technician.  They'll make sure your system is running at peak performance, keeping it running efficiently and with as little impact as possible on your electric bill.  You can often save the cost of the annual tune up in the electricity cost saved.  If you have a natural gas system a bi-annual check and cleaning of the HVAC unit may be advisable to save electricity and gas.

Your right, HVAC companies are really not much help at all in regard to getting all the rooms and floors the same temperature, and airflow.  It's not their focus or their expertise. They repair and sell hardware.  I had the same exact problem here in Central Florida.  I had rooms that were to hot in the summer and the same ones were to cold in the colder months.  I have a 2 story 2800 sq ft home with 4 bedrooms.  I did a lot of research, and I tried to fix it myself, but in reality I made it worse.  I finally found a company here in the Central Florida area called AirFlowBalance, LLC.  Their web site is AirFlowBalance.com.  This company is not an HVAC dealer or repairer.  Their sole focus is to balance the airflow and temperature in a home by using a nonevasive proprietary process, with patented devices. Now, when I set my thermometer at 75 degrees, every room is 75 degrees.  I no longer have to bump up or down the temp from room to room.  No more thermostat wars with my family!  Also, I was very supprised at how affordable it was and the whole job was done under 3 hours.  They also have an online estimate page on their web site.  I hope this helps, and I am not sure if they have an office in AZ.
?
if you have exhausted all of your choices I would call and put a complain in with the BBB then go to the DA and put a complain with them.  Then get a good lawyer and sue them for all you can get.

While service for dryer cleaning was great, the gentleman that was here was constantly trying to up-sell services which was very irritating. If i wanted all those additional services i would have asked for them to begin with. I had arranged when i scheduled the appointment for them to also re-screen a screen door while they were here. Only one week went by and the screen is loose and i have a hole where is should be firmly in the frame. Now i am going to the hardware store to get the tool to fix it. What a waste of money, and i am still having to spend more money to fix what they did not do right in the first place.

I purchased a Big Deal to have my dryer vent cleaned after. I was contact quickly and the appointment was scheduled within a week of purchase. The technician showed up during the scheduled window and completed the job in an efficient manner. At my request he was able to recommend a service interval based upon the amount minimal amount of lint that had accumulated in the 19 months since our home was built.

Bought the big deal from Angie's List in April, and the service was performed in late August (on a Saturday), so I can only assume that they must be really busy. But other than the responsiveness of them scheduling an appointment, everything else went superbly well. Yes, per other people had commented, they asked for additional money, once for the main line cleaning (hundreds of dollars), and then once more sanitation offering. I was not happy, not because these gentlemen didn't do a great job, but the big deal from Angie's List did not clarify these things. All in all, the service staff (three of them) were very courteous, attention to detail, and sometimes funny. If you can look beyond the bad marketing scheme (just know that if the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is) and responsiveness (4 month delay in getting the service scheduled), the service is quite great with zero complaints. I would definitely recommend the provider my friends.

very well. they vacuumed out all air ducts, showed us a camera view of what was in them before, then ran a snake type cleaner through them pushing everything down to the furnace area and then showed how much came out. My wife was very pleased.

Showed up on time, as promised. Completed the job quickly. Was flexible around my conference call at the house that day. Made good recommendations. Our new vent cover isn't flush against the house brick so that would be the only thing I would want to change in the future. I did spray paint it from white to dark brown as he recommended.

It went wonderfully! The gentlemen that showed up were fantastic. They did a very thorough job and were extremely patient and nice (especially with two little kiddos running around). I would absolutely use them again!
