Family Doctor Reviews in Lewes

I went to see Dr.
earlier this year as a new patient. Being new to this area and having a severe chronic illness, I was happy to find that Dr.
was my age and that we both attended Catholic brother schools. We had the same priests. He gave me a pat on the back and we talked about the brotherhood that we were taught at our schools. Given that common background, he talked to me like I was a
of his rather than one of his many patients. He did drop a few cuss words but at the time it seemed to me that he was again treating me as a patient who was also a friend. Why else would a doctor cuss? He listened to me explain my illness. I have a rare illness that many doctors don't know or understand. He wanted me to follow up in a week and by that time he had researched my disease. I was very impressed. Then it began to go downhill. My disease is such that my mobility and my oxygen is effected. There were times when I needed to be seen and instead they said no. They would not put me in the schedule nor would they call in a medication that I regularly took. This inability to get an appointment continued but I was not sick enough to justify a trip to the ER. By August this year (2013) I was told that the only way I could continue to get my prescriptions is to come in for a prescription evaluation visit. I did get that appointment and I went to that visit. I assumed that I was now good to have my prescriptions refilled because there was no change medically. Instead I was told that the prescription visit I just went to was for one prescription and if i needed another prescription filled that I needed to have another prescription visit. I never heard of something so ridiculous. At this point on my last prescription visit I talked to Dr.
about me missing 3 visits. This was due to my illness that often prevents me from leaving my home. They would not take a last minute cancellation and I had been told by the staff that I may be discharged from care. I expressed my concern to Dr
who I still believed had my best interest at heart and had a good understanding of my disease. He told me that if I got a letter like that to just call and let the staff know that the doctor didn't want me dismissed from care. He said he would handle it so don't worry. Well I got the letter and it came certified mail. I immediately called the office to explain what Dr
told me. They responded that it was the doctor himself that submitted the dismissal from his care. I called back and left a message on his answering machine asking for a call back but at present I have heard nothing back. I am forced to find a new doctor now. I guess it is for the best given the poor treatment I have gotten. It is very wrong to tell a patient who is very ill (or any patient for that matter) that he has a special knowledge and understanding of this illness that is superior to other doctors. Then
around with the patient to make them feel that there is a special relationship as doctor/patient. If it was all an act and he is a phony, I wish I had known previously. So many things that he told me turned out to be untrue. I will now look at the ratings of other doctors here so that I don't make the same mistake again. I didn't know before how many people had similarly poor experiences with Dr

I moved to this area in February 2013 and immediately began to look for a good doctor. I believe I got this office by way of
Hospital referral line. The doctor that I was to is was Dr.
. On my first sick visit I could only get in with
who is his nurse practitioner. She was cold, had no empathy and ultimately gave no treatment. This is just following a hospital stay that I had just the day before. She said just wait and you will get better. I saw Dr.
for another visit because I had a severe stomach pain. He did spend time with me and we discussed what happened to cause this pain. We discussed complicating issues as well. Within 3 weeks from that visit, I called for an urgent appointment due to severe pain in my legs that was making it impossible to walk. I was told it would take 2 days to get me in. I made that appointment but told the nurse that I may have to go to the hospital which I did end up doing. The hospital treated me well and I kept the office visit I made as my follow up visit with Dr.
. When I got there I was put into a room and told that Dr.
was on vacation and I was being seen by the same nurse practitioner,
. I first saw the medical assistant who I thought was very nice but when
came in and I repeated my symptoms and my hospital stay her answer was shocking. She said "so what do you want me to do about it?" with a very sarcastic
. I told her that I made the appointment to be seen due to the symptoms that I explained. She then out of the blue said to me, "You know I am not going to give you any medication because I don't want to contribute to you becoming a drug addict." I was shocked. I have absolutely no history of any such abuse and her saying that was insulting. I told her there is a medication that wont conflict with my stomach issue call ultram. To my further surprise she told me it was a controlled substance and she would not prescribe it for me. Now I have worked for many years in the medical field and knew that she was wrong. I even asked to show her from the office PDR. When she walked me to the check out desk, I asked them to let me see another one of the doctors that was there at that time. I was told that I couldnt do that because they would want to bill my insurance for 2 visits and my insurance wouldnt accept and pay for 2 visits. I explained that I am on the same visit because this nurse refused to even examine me. I asked what am I supposed to do about my health. I was very worried about the cause. I was told to just go to the ER again if the pain returned. Then I was told that I could see Dr.
after the weekend so I made that appointment. I was fully expecting to talk to the doctor about the bizarre and insulting way I was treated. He told me that
and his office manager called him to let him know how I disrupted their office. I told him what happened and he actually said that I must have misunderstood everyone in the office because they wouldnt do what I told him truthfully they had done. He basically accused me of making it all up to cover for my bad behavior. With that he said if I don't like my care then I can go elsewhere. Oh he did a brief exam that day because I told him that so far no one in his office has done any kind of exam. They didnt look at the area, feel the area, listen to the area for blockages and so on. Not even range of motion was done and this was a complaint about me loosing feeling in my legs with excruciating pain in my back. Then I referred to my visit with him 3 weeks earlier when I was seen for my stomach because he was telling me to take advil when 3 weeks ago he told me to never take it. I reminded him of that and his response was, "well I see so many people. HOw do you expect me to remember everything?" Apparently this doctor doesnt know what doctor notes are and doesnt refer to any past medical issues even when they relate to a new complaint. I am still in need of a new doctor and I am trying to carefully evaluate the office before I subject myself and my family to this kind of quackery.
