Dover HVAC Contractors Reviews

"It did not go well.
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was generally very responsive to our service requests. We knew that we would need to replace the whole system soon. It seemed mighty suspicious though that immediately upon being serviced and told it would fail, it did. Certainly these things happen but coupled with the hard-sell at first, we were suspicious. The expense of the system compared to other company's quotes along with the feeling that we were annoyances rather than valued customers helped us decide not to do business with them again.
However, it is the business practice in general I have issue with. The technicians themselves were quite courteous, quiet, and efficient. They were excellent.
"Overall, Horizon came out to my home for one sell me a new system. The maintenance that they performed was minimal, for a maximum price. The tech was condescending and pushy. I would not call Horizon again."
"The initial appointment was scheduled for 2 weeks before but I received a call the morning of that appointment and I was told they could not come in because 2 of their technicians had suddenly quit and they were scrambling to reschedule appointments, she told me I would be called the next week to re-schedule. I called the office the week after to find out about re-scheduling my appointment because I had not received a call back from them, I left a voice mail message. The next day I was called by their representative and she re-scheduled my inspection for 31

2013 at 1130 AM. On the 31st the technician arrived around 1130 AM and proceeded to go on and start doing the inspection and tune up. After I told him about episodes of water under and around the unit he told me he would check the pump to see if it was working properly. He took the pump apart, checked the unit, went outside to clean the unit and then informed me of the low refrigerant level. He told me the pump was fine and he suspected the water under the unit in the basement was caused by the low level of refrigerant causing condensation that would form ice around the coil that would then melt and spill out from the bottom of the unit. He told me the additional cost per pound of refrigerant and I agreed to have it replenished. The technician then refilled the refrigerant to appropriate levels and when he was done he gave me the receipt and received my check in payment. The technician was courteous an professional and left the work area clean.
"Called a little earlier than the original appointment to ask if he could come at that time. I said O.K. and he arrived within 10 mins. of when he indicated. He found a new problem that might need some maintenance in the future and gave me an estimate for a known problem in the heating system that was within a few dollars of a previous estimate..glad to have a 2nd opinion. We negotiated the charge for the R22 refrigerant since I didn't need the supposed two lb. minimum. I was charged for 1 lb., $89.25 though about 0.6 lbs. was required. I don't know what the going rate is for refrigerant but I do know this refrigerant is being phased out and, hence, can be expensive. I have seen a suggestion online that any need for refrigerant without checking for a leak is less than professional. I was told that "either it wasn't filled up initially or there's a leak" so there's no warrantee on the R22." I'm not sure I got all of the service that came with the $79 service charge. The caveat about no warrantee came as he was packing up to leave. I know the A/C was probably not maintained by the previous resident and slow leaks are common, but this does seem to be a little shabby.
"Screwed heater up so bad it had to be replaced. when they were done heater would start, flames would shoot out the front (gas heater) and make a loud explosion. Told us the reason was the chimney was bad (after 20 years and two different heaters??). Had chimney relined but still did it (1200 dollars later). Came back but when he left there were "parts" left over and still shot flames out. Had another company check it out and found reassembled incorrectly and there never was a chimney problem. Had new company intall new heater and all was well. Tried refund from Rays but wuld not refund all the money, just part. NEVER WILL USE AGAIN! Oh yeah, we were also out the price of the chimney relining!!
"pleasant older fellow with high expertise no leak discovered but changed a

valve for me at no charge as it was slightly corroded and could have been the problem though not detectable. did not charge me for the valve recharged the system with r22 that i provided with the advice that if it blead down again it probably was the compressor gone bad which would entail replacing both major components. i did not ask for a quote on that possibility.
was well pleased with the service performed and have since gone to window units since i cannot afford the repair at this time. but will contact him again when i am ready to spend the cash.
"Terrible", I was ripped-off by their so-called expert technician they sent to my house.. all
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
", did was sent me a "fast-"talking", expert that "tightened a loose wire on a switch", that was previously installed a few years back. "I actually showed him where the previous problem had been with the unit a few years back and pointed out the switch that was replaced and "immediately" no kidding, he looks at it and says, "oh! "well the wire is loose on it", "let me run a meter across it and see what kind of voltage we get? We're up in an 3rd floor attic" which you have to get into by ladder and into a 4'x3' trap door). however, this guy doesn't have his meter and now has to go outside (to his truck), after about 10 minutes or so, i'm thinking "what's taking him so long", and so I come down and see that "he's talking on his cell phone in his van! He comes back in about 10-15 minutes later and he runs his meter across the switch and says to me, "that the switch is showing very low voltage across it" (the switch). So, "he unscrews the wire out of the switch all together and then retightens it on to it again, "ensuring it is tight and attached". He then runs the meter again and the voltage is normal! "he then states; "that should fix your problem, however, I'll run a check on the entire unit. I actually say that's "cool", "I thought it was going to be a bigger problem! So in the meantime, I tell him that I am going to get a filter and changed it while we're in the unit. So, I go downstairs and was I am now standing somewhat below right below him and I swear, "right away", I can hear him just yacking away on his cell phone to his shop or buddies. So, after about 15-20 minutes, I come back up into the crawl space and say, "Everything "OK" up there?, and he says "almost done", I say, "any more problems?, he says "NO" everything looks good. So, I go back down, however, he stays up their for about 15 more minutes and then comes down, "states", everything should be good(just keep changing those filters) and he says he has to "just" run out to his truck to get his paperwork to write me up. I tell him I have a coupon for 15.00 off (clipper magazine or somewhere I got it) and also, that i'm retired military (do you give military discounts?). He says he would check, Well for the next "twenty minutes"!!, he's out in his truck" and I can see he's, "on the phone again" he finally comes back in, and by now I'm kind of feed-up with this guy and say to him, I really do have to go. He just says, Oh, Ok, and hands me the sheet or bill, I got you the military discount it was a little better deal. I then state to him, "boy, thank god for cell phones

", well, thanks for coming, do you want paid or do I send it? He says I can just send it in. I then state again, I really do got to get going, thanks again, and we both leave my house. Anyways when I return back a few hours later, I look at the bill and this guy charged me ,,,,, $ 215.00 and even writes on the bill - "tighten loose wire and checked system" that's it? And it does show that he crossed out the original $ 235.00 he was going to charge me!!!!! "Never again will I use these con-artist or recommend them to anyone!an

"I received a prompt estimate when I originally contacted
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
's Plumbing in May, 2012. I postponed installation of the heat pump unit until March, 2013, and
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
updated the estimate in a very short period of time. The installation was scheduled quickly and completed efficiently. They cleaned up at the end of each day. I was concerned about cutting a hole in the ceiling for access, but it was done with minimum mess and the drywall was replaced so that the painter's job later will be minimal. Every detail went exactly as
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
said it would. When I asked for information on another project, the brochure was promptly made available with all of the detail I needed. Every person from
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
's has been highly courteous and professional. I would highly recommend them to others and will use them again in the future for any and all heating/cooling and plumbing needs. They were terrific!
"Earlier maintenance visit showed the heat exchanger was going out. Technician said he'd check on replacing it and get back to us.
Shortly thereafter, called to say we needed a whole new heating/ac unit. I questioned this and then checked with the manufacturer. Turns out the heat exchanger was under a lifetime limited warranty and the only expense to us would be the shipping charge.
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
contacted the company to confirm this and to verify what the costs would be. When I spoke with
Dover HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
, she confirmed that the part would be shipped and we would be scheduled for a service call once it came in. We also discussed a problem with the overflow drain from the ac unit and they agreed to take care of that as well.
Once they arrived, the technician noted that there was no inflow connection to the furnace and apparently should have been.
They fixed that problem as well as the overflow drain problem.
we've used RS

for over 10 years now and have always had a good experience with them. They are always prompt and courteous.
