Window Replacement Reviews in Bear

My experience with them was excellent. They did the job in a timely manner. He stuck to the schedule. He gave me a price I thought was fair. He cleaned up after himself everyday.

He predicted it would cost between $5,000 and $10,000. He was the SLOWEST person in the world. He showed up late every day and left early, charging us for time he was not even here. He brought his helper along with him who also made his way onto payroll, whom he said he couldn't do the job without. His helper took cigarette breaks about 4 times an hour, was totally inefficient, to the point where they set up a saw outside and the helper,
, would go out and cut 1 piece of wood at a time, go downstairs, measure the next piece, and come back up to cut 1 more piece. I don't think they had 10 brain cells between them.
would come and go as he pleased, taking an hour or two break at a time, and still being paid!
would fudge the timesheets, allowing them to be paid for all breaks and discrepancies of coming in late and leaving early. Unless we stayed home to babysit them, nothing would move, and we could only wonder how much they were cheating us. Weekends would go by with little progress. We couldn't understand how two men working 8 hour days could show such little progress. it was SUCH A NIGHTMARE. We lost over $25,000 and
has disappeared off the face of the earth, refusing to install the EXPENSIVE CUSTOM windows which he insisted we buy back in FEBRUARY. Please, never hire this man unless you like losing money!!!

Window Replacement reviews in Bear

Installation of windows in the family room. Insulation was blown into the attic. Workers were professional and cleaned up very well when finished.

Very well. It took one day to complete job. Was extremely satisfied with the quality of the work performed. They were on time and didn't leave until the job was completed to ours and their satisfaction.

We decided to use
Bear Window Installers Provider Name Locked
for our window project after having 5 estimates. We really liked the options they gave us as well as the professionalism of the salesman,

during the estimate. (No pressure, and not 3 hours long). The price was not the lowest we had, but the best comparing apples to apples to what we were looking for. The installation was completed in two days and there were no additional charges, which was our biggest fear and clean up went very smooth. The installers were very courteous and careful. I would definitely use them in the future for other projects if the need arises.

Overall, I'm pleased with this experience, with two exceptions (missing part and too much silicone). They replaced the original patio door in the master bedroom with a new, more energy efficient door. The installation went very well, and was quite challenging for the installers. The bedroom is on the top floor of a narrow townhouse, so the door had to be creatively lifted up to the bedroom from the main floor deck, and then pulled over the top deck into the bedroom. It was quite an impressive feat! The door was nicely installed and framed, and the end result is very nice. I am very pleased with the quality and finishes on the door itself.
However, there were two small glitches. The first one is a missing lock mechanism and the second one is the excessive use of silicone around the new framing on the door. One of the primary reasons I purchased this particular door was a unique secondary locking mechanism that allows the door to be locked while slightly ajar. They forgot this mechanism; this oversight failed several QC steps, and I'm actually the one who asked the installer about it during the final inspection. The installer told me this was an easy fix, that this part was in stock, and would be quickly and easily fixed in about five minutes. This is not the case. It took me several phone calls to find someone who would follow up on this for me. I was just informed that it will be installed on

. 3, 2012 which is a month after the initial installation; this is disappointing given that this was their mistake. It would have been good customer service to rectify this error quickly. Also, I planned to paint the room immediately after the door was installed, and keep the door securely ajar to vent the paint vapors. So I just painted the room, and left the door unsecurely open. The other thing is the amount of silicone used around the outside edges of the wood frame; so much was used that I can't paint paint this frame or the wall close to the frame because the silicone extends onto the wood and the wall in a few places. While I appreciate the energy efficiency of this excessive use of silicone, I would have liked to have been able to paint the new framing and the wall up to the

of the framing.
Overall, the new patio door is very nice. Once I get the new lock installed, I'll be happier.

This is the second time Champion Windows has replaced windows/doors in my house this year, and overall, I'm pleased with the new patio door. However, my overall satisfaction is not as good as the first time when they replaced my kitchen windows. At that time I gave an A rating. This time it's a B for the following reasons: (1) They were 25 minutes late, and didn't call. My appointment was between 8 and 9 am. At 9:15 am when no one showed up or called, I called to confirm my appointment and was told they left their office late. They showed up at 9:25 am. I would have appreciated a call; more professional and courteous. (2) The two screws that attach the screen door lock stick out about an inch, which looks awful, and feels loose when locked. The installer explained that because my patio door is extra wide (3 panels) it is, in essence, a 2-panel door with an extra non-moving panel attached. Because the screen door lock is designed for a 2-panel door, it doesn't really work for a 3-panel door, so it just looks ugly and there's nothing that can be done about it. He tried unsuccessfully to devise a creative solution with a wine cork, but it didn't work. As I recently had another 3-panel patio door replaced in my master bedroom by a different company I know that this can be done to make it look nice and lock more securely; so this was quite disappointing. (3) The installers left multiple smudges of white silicone on the inside and outside glass of the new patio door. When I asked them about these, they said the window cleaner they gave me would easily take care of these. It didn't. I'm stilling trying to get these smudges off. Also, I think the installers should clean up any and all messes they make, including silicone smudges. So overall, the patio door is nice. But not as nice as I hoped.

I was impressed that the company proactively contacted me to schedule right after I purchased the Angies List deal. Scheduling was easy and Pat was quite punctual, professional and efficient. It took him less than the allotted time to work since several of the windows were not able to be caulked. He provided an estimate for some work on the roof which seemed a little high but likely would be quality work from my experience with the company.
