"Took my 15 year old cat in to Dr.
at
. He had the same symptoms as our 16 year old dog who had to be put to sleep" a few years ago. This was before we moved here. Of course having been through that, I was thinking the worse. Dr.
has the most pleasant and calming manner. He ran tests and knew exactly what was wrong with him. He had an acute bladder infection. He stayed in the hospital there for 3 days and is now better than ever. Dr.
called me all 3 days to give me updates. He is wonderful and so is all of his staff.

"My Beagle
became very ill at 8:30 PM. I knew something was seriously wrong as she suddenly started yelping in pain. As the minutes passed," I knew I needed her to be seen by a vet immediately. I drove her to
where we were seen very quickly by Dr
and her staff. X-rays showed a piece of wire in her abdomen that required immediate surgery. They showed my a very detailed estimate for service, and I agreed to the treatment.
would spend the night, and I picked her up the next morning. I received a call from Dr
right after the surgery. She went into great detail about the procedure, as well as explaining some abnormal lab values they obtained prior to operating. I am an RN, so I understood what was explained and was very grateful for all the details! I had no worries about
being in their care. All staff was friendly, compassionate and very gentle with my sick little girl. I can't say enough about this place! I've used them in the past- the experience was also great. The price was high, but fair. I am fortunate to be able to afford it.
is recovering nicely. Thank you Dr
and staff!

Angie's Answers

?

Hi

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
?
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

I have been going to
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
for seven years and have never had a bad experience. Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is wonderful. I can't say enough about her. She is caring, friendly, very knowledgeable, and treats your pet as if it were her own. Although
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
may be slightly more expensive than other area pet hospitals, it is well worth it. The entire staff is warm and welcoming and dedicated to making your visit as pleasant as possible.

All appointments are drop in so there is a wait depending on how many people are there. If you know and expect this it is not a problem. I waited about 1/2 hour. The vet has been very good at handling both my dogs and my cat and clearly enjoys animals. His approach is practical and efficient and he offers a lot of experience in dealing with all sorts of issues. I take my animals there because of his common sense and compassionate care that does not break the bank. He's also very good at talking to me and explaining the issues - client education is an important part of being a vet.

we've been coming here since 1998 when we got our first bulldog. Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
has been taking care of our current girl since she we got her in 2011. He has been great with her and always remembers and looks out for her special needs. The entire team is very knowledgable, great with the animals and have never pushed unnecessary procedures or treatments. I recommend them to everyone. We drive 45 minutes to see them. It's definitely worth the time and tolls.

They’re very good and very reasonably priced. They carry brands of medicine that actually work and are reasonably priced as well. We went with them initially because we had a flea problem a few years ago and brought our pets in for a grooming/flea dip. They kept the pets there all day, which allowed Terminex to spray the entire house down. They also gave the pets a check-up. It was very convenient for us. They're also able to get us in very quickly for appointments, too.

7-2012 Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
said my dog needed cataract surgery in both eyes or he would be blind within a month! They required a $5000 payment, and when I asked if I could get them $4000 and the last $1000 in 7 days, they said they couldn't wait and I could apply for credit. I thought the doctor was a nice person, but I began to realize that it was an unusual situation that revolved around money. I even called their corporate office about my situation, and they hung up on me after asking if this is how they would want their family's animals to be treated. I purchased a prescription from them, and after checking at my local pharmacy, I discovered they had overcharged me for the prescription by 300%. I sought a second opinion, and this doctor told me that my dog didn't need surgery in his left eye after all. This doctor stated that she was aware of
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's reputation of doing unnecessary surgery just to receive payments. I was upset they would try to do medically unnecessary surgery on my dogs perfectly good eye just to receive payment. Or would not do the surgery and still charge me ? I just want to make sure any potential customers seek a second opinion before having any surgery on their pets, especially with their eyesight. I'm sure happy they don't take care of human patients; Lord knows what they would do to us!

1-27-15 UPDATE

Well, here we are 2 1/2 years after Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's exam. My dog is going to have cataract surgery on his right eye. The new Dr. said to me," I still don't see a cataract in his left eye, His left eye is perfect". Wow!

Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
said in 7-2012 he would be blind within 1 month. He did not go blind at all ! Did my dog have a miracle healing or was there a problem with Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's exam ? I can tell you that in 2012, I spoke to Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and I explained my feelings of a potential fraud he tried to pull upon myself. I informed him that I may go to
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
Police and file a crime report for attempted fraud. He became irate and demanded to know which Dr. I went to for a second opinion. Then he hung up! Go figure. He may be a very qualified specialist but not in this case.

I only hope every pet owner gets a second opinion before having any surgery done on there pet. There are other vets who treat eye issues, you may have to travel a bit.
