"We took our sick dog to this emergency animal hospital and they told us it would cost between $500 and $750 to evaluate her. The veterinarian asked what" was wrong and when we tried to tell her what was going on and what we had done, she said everything we did was wrong and that the dog might have internal bleeding or renal failure. The vet did not really listen to anything we said, and frankly did not know what she was talking about. She stated she could euthanize her but that they would have to catherize her before they euthanized her if we wanted to be present. That would have been cruel. We decided to take her home and let her go naturally. She died in my arms five minutes after we left the vet. At least she was not put through the wringer by this place who only seemed to be interested in money. I am a nurse and so is my sister. The care we provided before taking her to this "animal hospital" was appropriate, we used our knowledge and researched everything we did for our pet to be sure we were not doing anything inappropriate. This place is not somewhere I would ever recommend anyone taking a pet that they loved.

"I will start off by saying the staff was wonderful but the veterinarian I saw had terrible bedside manner. He came into the room abruptly which caused my Min Pins" to bark of course and he remarked sarcastically what a nice family I had. Great start to the visit. During the examination I felt like he was taking down to me by his demeanor. It didn't feel like he really cared about animals all that much, bad feeling coming from a veterinarian. And when he left the room after the examination he left the door wide open and one of the veterinary techs had rush to close it. Im a military wife and have moved numerous times and seen a few veterinarians. This one was the worst I've seen. I wanted to like this place because I have heard good things about it and it is close to home but I want a veterinarian that seems to have a little more compassion. The staff was wonderful but I can't get past the attitude of the veterinarian.

Angie's Answers

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

Veterinarian reviews in Voluntown

One of my weines fell out of a tree. Yes, fell out of tree in the backyard. She landed flat on her back. I called the
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
The appointment was first thing the next morning. This was a precautionary visit due to my nine year old weinie fell about 8' out of a tree in the backyard. Dr Groucher asked a lot of questions, since he had never heard of a weinie going up a tree. He checked the dog out thoroughly, manipulating her hips, neck, and back. She did not exhibit any pain responses so she was given a shot and I was given some pills to give to her.
I have bringing my three weines to the
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
for about five years now. The vets always ask questions during the exams. They want to know what is going on in the pet's life. The exams have all been very thorough. My dogs are healthy and they help me keep them that way.

I've been taking 4 pets to
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
for over a year now and have been satisfied---the price is reasonable, there has never been a wait, and everyone has been professional. However, today changed all that. My dog (who I had just taken in 4 days earlier) suddenly had blood in her urine and having difficulty urinating. I called and asked the receptionist if I could get her in (on a Saturday). She said, no, they were booked, but she could get her an appt for Monday. I told the receptionist that I would then have to take my dog to an emergency animal hospital. Her response? "OK." I was absolutely shocked that my vet could not see an animal for an emergency, even though they were open for business that day. and even more appalled at the uncaring response. I will no longer be using their services, and would not recommend that anyone who actually cares about their pets use them either.

My reason for a B rating is because my dogs needed dental, and the prices are so over the top I had to go find another vet, which I did. Great vets if you have plenty of money to burn. You can find less expensive excellent care a few miles away.

Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is great. If I wrote the long version of why she and her practice are so fabulous, it would probably be filtered out because no one would believe me.
We have more pets than the average family. Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
started off coming to treat our oldest cat for digestive issues and has been our
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
every since. There are many reasons why she is a cut above the rest.
1. She is always the person who treats your furry friend. There is no
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
tech finishing procedures or giving you advice. Her
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
tech is fabulous but Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is the one who treats the pets. 2. They give you a window of time (usually two hours). They call ahead to tell you they are on the way so you can quarantine your pet if they are likely to hide (which we have one or two that do that). 3. She is reasonably priced. I was a bit nervous about having her treat all our pets thinking it would be way more money than a non-mobile
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. Guess what? Not true. It is the same price and even times less. Better yet, she isn't being distracted by another patience in the waiting room cause there is no waiting room. Also, there is no up-sell. It is about the NEEDS of the pet! 4. She isn't afraid of a tough problem. We have presented some complicated animals to her (we are suckers for the sick ones) and she has been committed to working with us for solutions. She has never charged us for her time to research and I am sure it has been upwards of 40 hours. She isn't afraid to think outside the box and doesn't lump animals into a box. 5. She has a heart. Despite the fact that she is a seasoned and knowledgeable
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, she puts her whole heart into everything. She cares about her patients and their families. She hurts when you hurt. I don't know how she has managed not to be hardened but she hasn't. 6. She knows her strengths. She will refer you to a specialist when you need one because she definitely doesn't have an ego. We have had two cats battle Lymphoma (two different forms). One of those cats was my husband's cat that he had for 17 years. She was with us through it all. When we saw the oncologist, we always checked in when she got the reports to see how we felt, did we have questions, how she could help. She wanted to make sure that we understood everything so we could make educated decisions. Because of her commitment to her patients, she knows them well so that she can guide you about each individual animal. She helped us make hard decisions and know where the "in the best interest of the animal" line was drawn. When it was time to help our
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
(she was shy of two years old) pass over the bridge, she came to the house and let us have our time. There was no "I have twenty minutes" pressure. It took us over two hours to be ready (although we knew for days this was coming). She was so compassionate and I even saw a few tears in her eyes. She has such compassion.
Because of our numerous pets and many with long standing health issues, we see Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
more than most. During these past several years, we have had the opportunity to see not only what an amazing
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
she is, but what a kind, generous person she is. She will sacrifice herself for the good of an animal.
There aren't many people who we feel put heart before money these days but that is definitely Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. I am so glad that we came to find her several years ago. I could give you countless more examples of the things I have seen her do and the way she has treated our animals that far exceeds any other
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
but I would imagine that anyone who reads this review understands that my husband and I think Dr.
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is the "Cat's Meow" and makes the world a better place!

On Feb. 3, after a healthy life of 13 yrs, 3 months, my baby dog, Sister, was outside for a potty break and let out a squeal. It was a very cold Texas morning. She made it up the stairs, but had trouble keeping her balance. She slept all the next day, and I found this business on Angies List. I was a walk in, but they treated me like a long-time patient. They instructed me to bring Sister in, examined her and determined she had a stroke. The doctor mentioned medications, but I explained to him that she had been an unhappy animal since the death of her mother 2 yrs prior. We agreed on euthanasia. His assistant picked her up to prep her for the process, and she managed to wag her tail. They allowed me to stay with her as long as I wanted, and I wanted to be the last thing she saw. When he sedated her, there was such a look of relief in her eyes. Some days later, they returned the ashes in a cedar box with a very touching poem. I am forever grateful for their professionalism and compassion.

They were awesome! I was very nervous having my cat's
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
shaved off because a groomer prior had said she was the worst cat he had ever experienced. The vet and groomer here even brought me in the back to show me what a perfect little girl she was being and that I had nothing to worry about. It made me feel so much better to know she was calm and felt comfortable.
- Taylor F.

My dog and I felt comfortable. Though the place looks a little older maaybe rundown on the outside the inside is nice and
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. A good local vet clinic that I would recomend.
- Daniel H.

Our cats always get great treatment here. I talk to acquaintances who use other vets, and the
Voluntown Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and Cat Hospital definitely has lower prices. The place looks run down, but the cat doesn't care, and this helps keep their prices low. One difference in this place is that they don't have appointments. A pet owner just shows up during their open hours to get treatment. This system works surprisingly well. I think we spend less time waiting here than what I see at other clinics.
