Contracting Reviews in Norwalk

Right from the start,
made me feel comfortable about hiring his team for both the roofing and the painting. He responded quickly to phone calls and when I talked to him about the overall goals of my project, he accommodated easily. When he came to the house to evaluate the work, he actually went up on the roof... no other quoters bothered. I was really interested in having the roofing and the painting done by one company, rather than having two different companies do the work, and it became immediately clear that
was the right organization to do everything, start to finish. Quotes were provided quickly and the pricing was excellent.
The roofers were courteous, did an excellent job, and cleaned up the yard so well that it looked better than when they started. They showed up on the expected date and finished in the expected timeframe.
The painters likewise did a nice job. I had to have a little carpentry done, which they handled well, and the exterior staining was done neatly and on time. I felt a little rushed on choosing a color... didn't have much time to work out what was the right stain for the house, and I wished I had more time to work out colors/brands before the painting crew arrived. They also needed to be reminded a couple of times not to forget some of the details of the job (like the bilko door and caulking)... but always did what I requested. The job overall was neatly and professionally done and I'm very pleased to have a home all ready for the winter weather ahead.

Nightmare! Just 3 days after the roof came off there was rain and because they failed to properly tarp the house it "rained" in ALL rooms on the first floor and flooded intomy finished basement. We had to move out.NOTE too
Ferlander's insurance did NOT include MOLD damage (rider too expensive!) Essentially quality of workmanship went downhill from there. Very sloppy and inconsiderate workers, lots of food litter and debris everywhere everyday, frequently no showed for work, actually used my wood fence to practice on with their nail guns!stood atop my hot tub like it was a ladder and broke its cover, etc.. months went by after the job was supposed to be completed and he demanded to be paid without having done the work required by contract at that point, which was a small balance due, and he then walked leaving me with a huge mess, about 30,000 plus of work left to be done and need to redo most of his work (siding installed wrong, window drip edges not installed at all-found in pile in back of garage!,stair case post not level or plumb; all had to be ripped out and redone, portico was crooked and not secure, trim work an absolute mess, each piece is done differently, all dirty and bent by them, many new unhappy surprises still being discovered. NOTE too he did not pay his framer and the framer thus LEINED my home although I had paid
for that work 5 mos earlier, also framer admitted work on rafters not done correctly but would fix it if I paid him (again) to settle the contractors (
FERLANDERS) debt. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY! He talks a lot but there is nothing good behind it!

I initially called
Norwalk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
for an estimate on cleaning and staining the deck. He returned my call almost immediately and came by the same day to look at the job. When I met him, I discovered that he could fix alot of other little problems that have been on my to-do list for a long time. That evening, he emailed me a detailed and clearly written proposal. He got his team of 5 organized and started the work within 2-3 days, exactly as promised. The

repairs concept was the best part for me. It would have taken me weeks to find, get estimates and schedule the variety of workers I needed, not to mention having to reorganize my own schedule when the work was done. The stone mason, carpenter, powerwasher, and 2 painters all did great jobs. All the work was done in 3-4 days.
Norwalk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was frequently on site supervising, inspecting the work, and bringing food to the team. The powerwasher inadvertently cleaned more of the house than was proposed, but

did not charge me for it. He also fixed a small problem with an outdoor faucet gratis, saving me a call to a plumber. His time estimates were right on the money. I appreciated his professionalism and the speed at which the work was done. He takes pride in his work and makes sure that his workers do an excellent job. I recommend him for all of your maintenance problems.

Norwalk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
showed up promptly to give me an estimate within a couple hours of contacting him through Angie's List -- refreshingly punctual. I suffered storm damage to my screened-in porch and the rotted wood sills and framing were in pretty bad shape. I also had some areas in my back yard where stockade fencing had to be extended. He gave me an estimate, in fact a RANGE of estimates based on how much work I could afford to get done (he estimated a few other odd jobs as well).

and his 2-man team showed up on the day they promised, worked furiously throughout the day (without making a mess!) and finished both the fencing project AND the porch project to perfection in about 2 and a half days. In fact,

is a particular talent -- very proud of his work, and it shows. The team went above and beyond, helping me by sanding and even doing some light painting that was needed to make the porch complete. I will definitely use these guys again, and I would highly recommend them to anybody.

Interior indoor painting and some dry wall repair was required. We called on

AGAIN as he knows his stuff, and we've hired him multiple times for projects both large and small.

We purchased this 1928 brick colonial last summer...great bones but needs some TLC. The existing copper gutters were leaking badly in several areas and water was collecting around the foundation. Used Angie's List to identify potential vendors.
Norwalk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the first on site to provide an estimate and their pricing was better than the others who submitted quotes. I read reports submitted by others using Angie's List and there was a lot of positive feedback for
Norwalk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Our experience shows those reports were spot on. They replaced the 6" half round copper gutters and they look fantastic. They reconfigured the downspouts, which will result in better water drainage. While working on the garage they identified a small structural issue impacting how the gutters hung. They came up with a solution on the spot, fixing the issue at no additional cost to us. There was attention to detail. The front of the house was ok except for the leader boxes pulling away slightly from the house. Before leaving they remembered to refasten them even though all the work they did was in the back and the sides of the house. Other vendors could have easily driven away and not thought twice about those leader boxes.

at their office was the point of contact and the communcation was excellent....leaving messages about start/stop times (based on weather constraints) and invoicing. What they quoted is what we paid. They cleaned up and even brought our trash can around the side of the house on 'trash day' before I could get home to do it myself. When the time comes to replace the copper gutters on the front of the house we won't hestitate to call them again.

They started on the day they said, and worked 3 weeks straight, including Sat's and Sun's in order to beat the cool weather. The amount of repair needed exceeded what any of us expected, but they did not cut any corners(did the extras without being asked, or increasing price). They also did things I didn't expect(sanded and rehung all the French doors so they opened and closed easier; got all windows{including some original from 1906}to work, painted a section of fence near garage to match trim). Quality and attention to detail very high.

also did some handyman work for me including sealing Bilco doors, repairing a desk, fixing light fixtures, connecting the new TV/DVD/Cable.

(head painting guy)was incredibly skilled, and was on site every day, along with 3 to 5 other workers. We picked the highest of our 3 bids, but think we got good value for our money given all the work that was done.

quoted the complete job and gave me several options. I chose to have him do the framing and the outside work and I installed the insulation, sheetrock and flooring myself. I wish I would have just had him do it all.

His team was courteous, on time and generally neat.
Norwalk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is very attentive, customer-service oriented, thoughtful and gives good advice before, during and after the job. He was very helpful in choosing the right color for the house as well. I can't remember the last time I had this much confidence in a contractor - we genuinely liked him. He is hard working and honest, and really knows his stuff.
In fact, he noticed our yard shed that had seen better days. He asked us what we were going to do about it, and we told him that we were looking into replacing it. He pointed out that the structure was solid and that he could restore it - eliminating the need for a new one. So as a smaller, add-on job, his crew fixed the hole in the shed roof, re-roofed the entire shed, replaced rotting wood, and reparied the doors, and then painted it. Our shed looks like new, at half the cost of replacing it.

We called to ask for someone to come to our house to provide an estimate for exterior painting and several siding and window sills repairs.
First surprise: the person in the office gave me an appointment for 2 weeks after the day I called. All other contractors I called, were able to come see us within a week.
When I called, she could not give me a specific time for the appointment, and said she would call the day before to firm up the time. The day before she called and emailed to confirm the appointment. I called back and agreed on the time for the estimator to be at my house.
Nobody ever showed up. Never received a call to apologize, reschedule or anything. I guess they didn't need my business. Should be nice to be able to ignore a $15,000 to $20,000 job.
