Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic, or aesthetic, dentistry focuses on improving the overall appearance of your teeth. Cosmetic treatments include any technique that involves whitening, restoring or straightening the teeth by a dentist or orthodontist.

I am familiar witht he ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers across the country, in particluar, the one in Overland Park, KS.  They are a "one stop" implant center.  The doctors there are at the top of their field, and an advantage is that you have all of the specialists that will be working with you in the same place.  That would have to make communication easier between doctors.  They usually offer seminars for patients and I think, offer free consultations, which is always worthwhile.

If you chose to go the other way, some Prosthodontists will place and restore the implants themselves. In other cases, an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist will place the implant and a Prosthodontist or General Dentist restores it.   Fees can vary quite a bit from office to office and with the different options for restorative materials.  Some offer free consultations, for others, they charge a fee that might be applied to any future treatment in some cases.

The first step is to schedule a few consultations with different providers, which it sounds like you've already done.

The most important factors when deciding which practitioner to work with:
.1.  You should feel comfortable asking your doctor any questions so that you have a good understanding of the procedure itself, healing time and long-terem outcome, and possible complications.  Write down a list of questions and take them with you to the consultation.

2.  Ask about the experience of the practitioner. How many similiar procedures have they completed?  Have they had any major complications with any cases?  Ask to see photos if possible.

3..Figure out if it works out better for your schedule, to go to a "one stop" provider or to separate providers for the placement and the restoration of the implants.

4. Follow your instincts.  If you feel rushed, didn't get direct answers to your questions, didn't communicate well or had any other negative feelings, this probably isn't the doctor for you.

5. Consider insurance coverage and financing options.  If your dental plan covers implants and it is important to you to use a preferred provider, you will want to check your list.  Many times, insurance does not cover implants, or at least not all of the steps.  You may want to inquire about payment and financing options.

I hope this at least helps you feel a little less confused and a little more directed. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further help.

Dear jacknd... I was very sad to hear about the problem you had with your dentures, but not surprised. The fabrication of dentures is actually a complex treatment, and requires many steps to create comfortable, functional dentures. That is why well made dentures are usually expensive. It is not always true that 'you get what you pay for', but certainly, if dentures are inexpensive, that means that many critical steps in the treatment are omitted to reduce cost. Most people are unaware that the most expensive part of making dentures is the time that the doctor spends working on them. A denturist is a techincian, not a doctor. They can make moulds and set teeth in plastic, but they are unqualified to deal with the complexities of muscular function, and proper esthetics. To complicate things further, modern dental schools are spending much less time educating doctors about how to make dentures, since dentures are becoming a less common treatment. The emphasis is now on saving teeth. I would recomend that if you seek further treatment, you seek a dentist who went to dental school no later than the 1970's (like me). We spent a long time perfecting our denture skils when I was attending  University of Oregon Dental School. All the best, Dr. Stern (Philadelphia, PA)

Cosmetic Dentistry reviews in Hampton

While my teeth did not need significant movement, I had wanted to do this for a couple of years. Dr. and I planned the work together. He personally talked me through what he would do as well as the cost (Invisalign and post treatment retainers and options). I felt when I went in for my scan, as well as my buttons, first tray ...More through my last tray, I knew what to expect. I am now done with my trays and waiting for my retainer to come in. I am very pleased with the results and love my smile even more!
- Deborah K.

In just 3 visits Dr. was able to provide me with a denture. It looks great and I now have a wonderful smile. I also can bite into and chew all the foods that I haven't been able to eat for a long time. The denture fits great too. There are no sore spots or problem areas. I was so happy that he was able to help me with ...More a problem I had been forced to live with for 5 years. And he took care of it in 3 easy visits!

His office staff is very friendly and helpful. I was very satisfied with his services, ecstatic actually!
- Irene R.

My visits at are always positive, staff and dentists are extremely knowledgable. And professional, I get quality dental care in a warm inviting modern environment!!
- Alyse K.

It went fine! He's one that I would recommend to other people. He's got a really friendly and congenial, but professional, staff. His office is conveniently-located, and he really tries to take care of his patients.

I flew from Florida to Philadelphia to go see him for some work I needed done. His opinion was extremely important to me. If I had done things that other dentists told me to do, I would have been out a lot of money for unnecessary work. The receptionist is incredible. She never forgets you and is very polite and efficient.
- Doris S.

is absolutely the finest and most talented dentist you'll ever meet. I
had been his patient many years ago when I lived up north but I have lived in
Florida for the last thirty years. Even so, I decided to fly up to Connecticut
to see Dr. because I ...More know he 's an incredible dentist with years of
First, Dr. carefully removed my twenty year old damaged veneers
without causing any harm to my teeth. He has a wonderful assistant and they
make an extremely competent team. They took molds of my teeth and showed me
samples of various shades so I could choose the porcelain veneers I liked best.
The one I chose is what I called 'white as snow'! He recommended bleaching my
teeth for two weeks while the new veneers were produced. He made trays for both
my upper and lower teeth so the lighter shade of my new veneers would match my
teeth. After two weeks, my teeth were many shades , even better than I
thought possible. After getting the new veneers, I returned for another
appointment a couple of weeks later because I needed two damaged upper crowns
to be replaced. His handiwork is totally amazing - he even matched the
replacement crowns to my new veneers, which added even more to my beautiful new
Dr. did an outstanding job putting on the new porcelain veneers and
replacing my crowns, while making adjustments to make sure they felt natural
and comfortable in my mouth. The finished product is absolute PERFECTION! I
have the most gorgeous teeth and my husband can’t help but notice that I smile
a lot more since I got my new veneers. Thanks to Dr. 's magnificent
skill and attention to detail, I have an exquisite smile. I recommend Dr.
very highly if you want to get a superior level of dentistry, either
cosmetic improvements or general dentistry..
If you are thinking about getting any dental work, cosmetic or otherwise, do
yourself a favor and make an appointment with the best dentist there is - Dr.
P. . You'll be so glad you did!

- Susan O.

I like them very well. They're very expensive. I had to use Care Credit to get the work done. They're always available. They usually get me in no matter what if I had a problem. The staff is excellent. I love the girls that work there. They're all so receptive, friendly and outgoing. They text you and send emails to let you know your ...More appointment is coming up. They have such a good environment. They try to explain everything to you.

I am new to this area and chose Dr on the basis of his Angie's List listing and his website. What appealed to me was his experience and the wide range of techniques he is skilled in. I had been treated by another periodontist over a many-year period prior to moving here and despite two gum surgeries, there was little improvement. ...More I was assured all along the way that my case was severe and that maintenance was the best that could be hoped for. To my amazement, Dr changed all of that! His goal is a total cure, (not an annuity provided by quarterly cleanings.) My condition has dramatically improved through Dr 's thorough, thoughtful, skillful treatment. I started with many deep pockets everywhere, and there is now just one left. Dr is very personable and approachable (he has great family stories), but also extremely serious about resolving his patients' problems. I highly, highly recommend Dr . I have been astonished at what he has accomplished and very satisfied.
