"It took longer to complete than I was originally promised. The vendor was a week late in picking up the coat from the shoe repair shop and took longer to return" it. The quality of the embroidery could have been better. Ended up with a couple of holes in the coat where they did the embroidery. They should have reinforced the embroidery by putting a stiffer fabric behind it. Overall, I was pleased and very well may use this service again. I go to
& J for shoe repair and have always been pleased with the quality of that service.

"Took two pairs of boots to be re-soled in September 2014. I've had great luck there in the distant past. I was told that I could pick them up the week before" Thanksgivings Day. Two months! Ok, their work used to be worth the wait. I returned to the store the week after Thanksgiving (
9th) and the boots weren't done. I was told to return on
12th, another month! They said they have been very busy and would call me when they were done. She said that they were now telling people that shoes would be ready in April. I returned on 20 February and was asked if they had called me, I said no. But as I gave them an extra month I figured they had to be done. Again, they weren't finished. I was told to return on 5 March. Ok, after 5 months and three trips I asked for a refund on my prepayment. They gave me my boots back and repaid me for my advanced payment. The owner's wife said she was in the hospital for three weeks, so they were running behind. While I was sorry she had been ill and can understand that might cause her husband to fall behind, she had the boots a full two months (one month longer than promised) and they still weren’t done, so even if she was in the hospital, they had 5 weeks (while she wasn’t in the hospital) to get them done. Plus the other three months! I also asked several people in line when they dropped of their shoes and all told me about three or four weeks ago. How come they do certain shoes before others? I paid in advance just like they did. They are terribly disorganized, slow, and unresponsive to phone calls. They never pick up their phone. I've tried calling a dozen times and watched them ignore the phone while I was in their shop. They also don't have a phone message setup.

You would have to have a shoe repair shop evaluate them - some heels are hollow except at the tip so you might not be able to shorten them and retain the necessary strength - others are solid, so he would have to look at them. Might be able to just remove heel cap, cut down, and put heel cap back on.

Bear in mind that cutting the heels down will rock the shoe "backwards", so you will be walking on sole further back on the shoe - if the unthickened sole part betweenthe heel and the ball of the foot would be walked on because of this, you might have to pay him to add leather there to, which might mean resoling the entire shoe - could get pricey, if these are not worth hundreds of $.

As for evaluating a shoe repai place - only thing I can think is if these are pricey shoes, call store and see if they recommend a particular place. Otherwise Search Angies List for sheo repair places and reviews.

Shoe Repairing reviews in Farmington

Picked the lady's boots up yesterday. I was very surprised/upset that only half the sole was replaced from where the original sole broke and splended in to the existing back portion of the sole. The heel that he said had to be replace if he replaced the whole sole, had a black cap on the bottom portion of the existing heel. The bottom and the heel were painted black to blend in with the 1/2 of the sole that was replaced. 1st the brown heel that went good with the boot is now painted black. 2nd the sole is weak as the original sole cracked in the middle and that is where the new black sole begins. I brought this to the shoe repairman's attention and he stated that is what we agreed too. I told him that we definitely talked about a full sole replacement on both boots and that is the only reason why the heel would need to be replaced. I would not have left them to be repaired if he was only going to put a 1/2 sole on the boots. He would not do anything about the error that he made. He did it the cheapest way possible and the boots look awful now. I will need to replace the soles sooner than I thought, I'm sure as they won't last.
As to the Men's boots that needed to be stretched - my husband came with me to try them on and there was no change to the boot. He decided to leave the boots there for another 3 days as they are going to stretch it more.
I would not recommended Rawhide Boot & Shoe Repair Shop. They tell you what you want to hear, make sure you pay up front and do cheapest/easiest for them. They have your money and won't do anything to correct this. Outcome is not good!

My shoes are ruined. They look horrible!

tried to convince me that he had to "hand sew" the stitching, but he went right through the side of the shoe and left holes. He also left glue and his stitches were uneven and sloppy. I cannot wear these shoes again. Sloppy work. Do not use this place.

They are excellent. They know what they are doing and they are always ready when they say it will be. They are reasonable in price and the quality of the shoes are always very good. I would highly recommend them.

don't recall the exact date or price, but remember thinking they were a bit pricey. That said, it was worth the excellent service performed and I would absolutely recommend them. Have been there a couple of times, and will be using them again in the future.

I've used this business many times over the years. I've never been impressed with service but I wanted to support a local company.
This time I dropped off the shoe and said I would wait. I was told I could not. I said I always come in the date it was to be ready and then wait while they do the work then. I was told to go somewhere else if I didn't want to wait a week.
I said I would wait a week.
I arrived the morning it was to be ready and was told to come back between 4:30 and 5:00.
I came back at 4:35 and was told it would not be ready until Monday.
I stopped by Monday evening and it wasn't ready.
I stopped by Thursday evening and it wasn't ready.
I was told I would receive a phone call when it was ready and there would be no charge.
The next week I received a call and picked up the shoe and was charged the estimated cost.
I got home and the shoe is unwearable. The new stitch looks good from the outside but the knot on the inside is so big it hurts my big toe.

We determined that they didnt need the full sole. Just half. They were super busy when I went In as they do all sorts of leather work - from suitcases to purses to shoes. My wife had them work on a Coach purse and she said they did an excellent job. Anyway, it took a week to get the shoes back, but they were excellent! He even shined them up and replaced the laces.

. I needed to have the cap on the bottom of the heels of my favorite boots replaced. The service was promp and the rapair appears to have been done very well. And he polished them, too - they look like new. He only charged $8.50. I'm very pleased.

My wife has a foot problem. The only shoe which she wears has a Velcro fastener. The fastener wore out. Other shoe repair businesses (on Angie's List) told me that it would take at least two weeks to replace the Velcro. Old
