There were several phone calls from different people as the taxes were being completed. Some of the same questions would be asked. My taxes were completed but with no bill. They insisted that I agree to sign a statement that included legalese (client pays attorney fees for any payment disputes etc.). I was not alarmed because they seemed like a credible and professional establishment, however, I regret that. After my taxes were completed, I called a couple of times inquiring about my bill but the bill did not come for approximately two months.
The bill was for $1400. I immediately called but the partner that I had done business with was out on pregnancy leave from that week forward and could not be reached. I left a message for

I understand that working with a firm can be more costly than working with an individual accountant. I do believe that they completed my taxes adequately and throughout the initial process I was treated politely and warmly. However, something seems wrong here. It is not just the overcharge but it is the firm's overall behavior and their aloof reaction to a client being billed twice what he expected. No breakdown of the charges were provided until I insisted. No depreciation schedule was provided to me until I called in three times and even then the email said 'We only have a NBV report in the pdf file, so until FA issue is resolved, I can’t print our typical report set.' Maybe it would work better to inform the client there is an issue but as soon as it is resolved, the normal report will be sent to him.
I paid my bill and I am moving on but I would be remiss if I did not provide feedback to others in my community.
