The job started with the demolition of the kitchen interior, which went rather smoothly and was done in 1 day. The work then stopped and we waited about a week for the electricians. At first we were not too concerned, but when we started to see that this was consistently starting to happen for all work, we went from concerned to downright aggravating. Many days went by with nobody showing up to do work at all. On top of all of the no shows, the workmanship and quality of materials was shoddy at best. The only way we were able to get the job done with them was by constantly sending reports, emailing, texting, and
calling. Nobody should have to manage a service. We would have been better off managing the jobs ourselves and hiring separate contractors for everything. What was supposed to be a 2-week job in the kitchen, ended taking 2-months.
We were completely misled about the cabinets we purchased. These were of much lower quality than that advertised by them. Now, a year later, one of our cabinet doors has warped. We have been contacting them for several months asking them to replace it since we still have warranty and they are consistently flaky and won’t come replace the cabinet door. All I can say is STAY AWAY from this contractor! See below for details:
Kitchen flooring: The intent of the flooring was to find identical hardwood to match the floors that ran throughout the house and to weave the new hardwood in with the hardwood in the adjoining dining room. To do this, we had searched all over Southern California and finally found the matching hardwood. However, after the demo AMS all of a sudden claimed they would not be able to weave the old floor with the new floor. Given the thousands of youtube videos on weaving hardwood we figured we should find someone else to do it. We found a contractor that could achieve the weaving so we notified AMS that we could go with someone else and simply remove the kitchen flooring from their scope. That was unacceptable to AMS and they started arguing that it was their contract and we were not allowed to change it. After we pushed back they finally claimed that they would be able to achieve the weaving we were looking for. We decided to stay with AMS in order to keep the peace and move forward with the project.
After removing the flooring in the kitchen it was discovered that the plywood of that subfloor was old and rotten. We requested that AMS remove the subfloor, which we agreed on a price for the additional work and materials. When removing the plywood, AMS managed to severely damage the supporting beams by cutting 2 inches deeper past the plywood into the beams. It seems they used a sledge hammer to knock the plywood off which then resulted in the cut beams being split and ripped off with the plywood. At first AMS tried to claim they were not responsible for the damage but after we sent out a report showing the damaged beam, they agreed to replace it. Upon changing the subfloor and beams, the kitchen subfloor ended up being about ¼” higher than the adjoining dining room floor. This made the weaving almost not possible, but AMS was able to get a flooring person that somehow was able to smooth out the transition enough and achieve the weaving of the hardwood between the two rooms.
The flooring was extremely stressful and was a strain on our lives. At this point we were becoming very concerned about the future with AMS, but we weren’t sure which direction to take. We were at least in direct contact with the owner of AMS at that point who would ensure us that the job will be done to our liking, so we decided to continue on.
Cabinets: We were working with
because we had gone to Kitchen Wholesale to purchase the cabinets. Kitchen Wholesale informed us that the installation would be by
, which is under the same owner. The cabinets at the store look nice and well assembled and were made by JK&C cabinets. However the cabinets delivered
and installed were not even the same company as what is on display at Kitchen Wholesale. When AMS was confronted with
this discrepancy they simply stated that they can choose any supplier they want. Given that AMS was the contractor based on an order placed with Kitchen Wholesale, this could definitely be construed as a “bait and switch”. We started to look into taking legal action but given the situation and the multiple promises from AMS that they will make sure the cabinets is good
quality we decided to push forward with them to finish the project.
We ordered the white shaker cabinets with pull out shelves and soft closing hardware for all doors and under mounting hardware for the drawers. When the cabinets finally arrived, an inexperienced installer started assembling the cabinets together. Here are some of the issues encountered:
· Cabinets were not self-closing
· Drawers were very difficult to open and close
· Workmanship on assembly was poorly done, drawer faces were crooked, one even fell off!
· Wood started cracking in various places on the cabinets and frames
· The cabinet frames were cut with a saws all and spray painted by the installer to fit drawer hardware. It was such a hack
job that there was spray paint on the drawer hardware!
· Cabinets were poorly cut for electrical fixtures, unneeded piping was left on the wall and is now protruding to the cabinet next to the refrigerator
· The backing of the cabinets was very thin and flimsy, they are not lined up and look warped
· The hardware for the drawers is not reinforced to the back of the cabinet and will probably break with time since the hardware was changed to self-closing
· Granite counter tops did not line up with the
of the range. After we raised this concern, AMS sent their granite installer to come and “fix” the granite but this was never fixed
Based on all of the above issues we documented and wrote up an inspection report with pictures and sent it to AMS. They agreed to completely rip out the lower cabinets and start all over again. Of course we waited for another week with no work getting done for this to happen. Also, since they had installed the appliances we had to wrap them in plastic and slide them around risking damage to the floor and the appliances. The brand new floor installed in the kitchen still has deep scratches
from the rework that was done.
Even after the new cabinets were installed, the drawers still did not have the soft closing hardware and arrived severely warped. AMS had to actually have someone custom make all of the drawers. And even the custom made drawers had to be made twice because they didn’t get the measurements right the first time!
Given everything we went through we decided to get the bare minimum done with AMS and stop the job. We didn’t get the pull out shelves and they agreed to deduct $1500 from the final price. However when we first told them that we were going to stop early they threatened to take legal action on us!!

I could not be more pleased with Bill
's work. The appointment was made about two weeks ahead of time. Bill called the day before to reconfirm which was reassuring. He provided an over the phone quote ahead of time indicating that if there were any complications he would discuss them before starting anything. The price he quoted is exactly what it ended up being, although I opted for having the metal drain and overflow device replaced, which was optional, for a relatively small added charge, as the older ones were a bit rusted. Bill showed up on time, in fact a little early. The job entailed removing the failed coating applied by a previous refinisher, then applying the new finish. This was very hard work, made harder by him wearing personal protective equipment including a Tyvek suit and a respirator which are hot to wear, but are the
of a professional who knows the potential health hazards of his occupation . He was fastidious and organized, taking care to avoid any messes. As planned, he returned the following day after the coating cured to reinstall the metal parts and to recaulk. Caulking is a skill that he has mastered. When he left the work area was spic and span, all debris was properly removed and the bathub and surrounding area looked like it was a brand new model home. Based on the nature of the work involved, the skill, quality and professionalism he exhibited, his pleasant demeanor and the final result I am very pleased to recommend him. His pricing was fair. It was money well spent, and saved me a lot compared to replacing the tub.

Was friendly and professional. Initial est for the job was 4-6 weeks. was installed 5 weeks and 6 days. Note: doors was a mess but cleaned up well.however when cleaning them I noticed a flaw in the glass 15 minutes after they left Contacted main office and am awaiting a resolution. Writing this review about a few minutes after placing the call but not expecting an issue with resolving it. The woman I spoke to was again professional and sympathetic. Will update with resolution if its anything outside of the service they have given so far. Over all assessment: easy to work with. No hassle. It was a little on the premium cost side but the people and service (so far) have been a of premium quality so have made it worth it. Overall time at our home was under 2 hours.

They did an excellent job. They were quick to respond to my call, arrived on time, and finished the work very quickly. The finished product was excellent and the cost of the repair was very reasonable.

Showed up right on time and began prepping the bathroom, covering the surrounding walls with some type of paper, then removed the existing paint off of the bathtub, sand, and add the new coating to the tub. He also added a slip-resistant texture to the bottom of the tub. Results were awesome, looks like a new tub! I couldn't believe how nice it came out. The process took at least 2 hours, I can't remember exactly how long, but it was about 2, maybe 2.5 hours. During the old paint removal of the tub, it did get a bit smelly, but nothing unbearable. The texture at the bottom of the tub is wonderful. The cost is a bit pricey, but it's pretty consistent with other companies who don't have as good of a reputation as

. I can't wait to refinish the other tubs in the house.
Please note: You will need to give the tub at least 2 days to dry. I would suggest giving it 3 days. If you are doing any other kind of work in your bathroom that creates any type of dust, even the slightest bit of dust, I recommend you take care of that before you refinish your tub. I did the opposite and it was very stressful protecting the newly refinished tub even though 2 days had gone by it was still too fresh and easily attracted dust.

Went well - very professional - explained what he was doing - beginning to end. Cleaned up after himself, laid tarp down from door entry to bathroom, so nothing would be tracked thru the house; kept area well ventilated.

It went well. We weren't at our home at the time, so the workers used a lockbox we'd left at the front door. No complaints. Very happy with the service.
