"Measurements off. Cut faucet hole in wrong place. Ran out of caulk. Took a month to come back to try and fix what they could but could not make the job totally" right without replacing the granite which they, of course, did not offer to do.

-Jeffrey J.

"I contacted the company via Angie's List and set up a time for a contractor to come out for a consultation on my kitchen. I had seen a deal on Angie's" List but I wanted to expand upon it -- I wanted additional things done in my kitchen than the deal offered -- so I requested somebody to come out and take a look at the project to see if it was something they could take on and how much it would cost over the cost of the deal. I left work early to meet the contractor. He called and said he needed to reschedule for the following day. I left work early the next day to meet the contractor. He called FIVE minutes before he was scheduled to arrive saying he couldn't make it and he would call to reschedule. It's been almost two weeks and I haven't heard from the company. I guess they don't need my business.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

Countertop Installation reviews in Alamosa

The sales contact at Colonial was extremely helpful and thorough. He made the process easy and we were able to select our counter tops and back splash and arrange installation easily during our 2 hour appointment. That was the end of our positive experience with Colonial. I would not recommend them nor use them again, under any circumstances....More /> The counter top installation was okay. They removed the old laminate counters and there was a remnant on the wall of an old laminate back splash. They did not remove this - which would have caused major issues for the back splash installers until I went in to the kitchen and expressly asked that it be removed. They did not consider the impact of their decision to do the bare minimum and I am thankful that I has the opportunity to ask them to fix it before it was too late. Also, there was a chip in one of the corners that they didn't notice or repair until I pointed it out. They repaired it with putty but I would have expected that for the cost of the product and install, everything was in perfect condition upon installation. Disappointing. Plus I was not told that the balance had to be paid upon completion of the project and I did not have my check book on me. The installation team refused to leave my house until it was paid - which was extremely awkward, intimidating, and unnecessary since we had additional projects on the books with them for the following week so we clearly weren't going to avoid payment.
Things got worse when the back splash team arrived a few days later. The work is sloppy, to say the least. Tiles are not evenly spaced, the holes around the outlets are a mess, the tiles are not flush against the walls and in some areas they incorrectly cut the tile and rather then cut a new piece, simply left the tile out and filled the area with grout. We had ordered extra tile to have on hand, just in case, but they installers were so haphazard with their cuts that they ran out. And it was over a week before they reached back out to us to complete installation after continual emails from us.
On top of that, they left my house an absolute mess - sand all over the floors and counters, tile not wiped down to remove access grout, and they cut the tiles on my back deck, without permission, which they also left a mess (they moved my furniture and didn't replace it and there is dust everywhere). I do not recommend Colonial Granite and wish I had never used them in the first place.

I shopped around the area and their price and responsiveness was the best of the companies I contacted. They answered questions promptly and always returned my phone calls quickly. Work was done on time and as promised. I did not buy their stock granite, but went to Pental and picked out what I wanted, then had

pick up the granite from the Pental warehouse in Seattle.
Only "problem" was that they were unable to make the

profile I wanted due to the type of granite I picked, but their explanation was reasonable and I liked the way they did it anyway.

They are a family owned company. Very reasonably priced You go there and pick out your own piece they come out and measured
And a week later they were there installing my beautiful bar. They also have lots of tiles for kitchen or any where in your home.

was very efficient and professional. We so appreciated that she came to our house ( the only companies to do this) because we have a baby and both work full-time. She brought samples and explained the process thoroughly. A week later the project was completed and looks great. I highly recommend working with

Our experience with
Alamosa Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was great. I was a little nervous as I've wanted granite countertops for years but just never figured we had the budget to pursue it - but when I saw the deal offered on Angie's List I was intrigued. The pricing was solid and
Alamosa Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was great to work with - they took the time to answer my question, discuss how pricing would be handled since we had more square footage than offered in the deal, etc. Very strong customer service attitude with an obvious interest in making sure we got something with which we'd be happy. We went out to their storefront and found a very nice setup and some great looking granite. The overall process was incredibly easy and

tried to work as quickly as possible - but they were very understanding when I had some scheduling delays and

really tried to go over and above to get my job completed as soon as possible. The staff I spoke to on the phone as well as the guys who came to measure for the template and install the granite were great - solid professionals, friendly and willing to answer questions to make sure I was comfortable.

Just like our original experience with
Alamosa Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
everything went very smooth. Their company seems to work very smooth and everything down to a science. Their scheduling department contacted not only to set up appointments but also called us the day before each appointment for reminder calls. Every employee that came in our home was polite and professional and did a fantastic job at what they do! The installers were fast and proficient and left with an excellent final product. We have four seems in our kitchen and all of them are almost invisible! I would recommend this company to everyone I know.
