did a total remodel on an upstairs bathroom. The bathroom had not been updated since the sixties. I obtained three bids.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was not low bid nor was it high bid. The bid provided was thorough and accurate.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, owner, was extremely professional and helpful in making suggestions to enhance the bathroom and he even helped me pick out colors! It took 2.5 weeks to complete the bath. It would have taken less time however there were some unforseen complications as there are when you remodel and older home. The foreman and crew were also very professional. More importantly, their skill and craftsmanship is beyond reproach.

"Our home was structurely damaged when a large tree crashed into it during the Sandy Storm. It caused extensive damage to the upstairs. Roof, walls, doors, windows and floors needed to be replaced. Ed and his crew responded immediately to our call. They cordoned off the liveable parts of the house from the areas in need of repair which enabled us to remain in our home while the work was being done. They approached the job methodically, and timely, from the structural repairs to the finished details. They also helped to coordinate with the insurance company. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of their work and professionalism and would recommend them highly.

"I called Mr.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and I felt real comfortable using him. We scheduled an appointment and he was on time ready to give me a quote. He took some measurements and talked about how long it wad going to take. His quote was the exact amount I paid. He is very neat and cleans very well. I could not imagine how nice the stairs came out. It looks as if I paid 10x as much. I honestly will call him back when I need my moldings or any work that he can do. Overall Mr.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is highly regarded by me.

"I contacted
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
concerning attic stairs that had just broken. He returned my call that day and over the phone gave me a ballpark figure for the work. He came out that weekend, took a look and quoted me the same figure - $600, to include removal of old stairs and installation of a new set. He said it would take about 3 hours. When he came to do the work, it took 3 hours, he and another worker were professional, cleaned up after themselves. The price and timing were exactly as he had promised. The stairs installed use pistons instead of springs. They allow us more room to access the attic opening, and the stairs are as steady and sturdy as can be. We have absolutely no complaints."

"Fellow Angie-Listers, I found
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
here on Angie's List. I was immediately intrigued based on the reviews I read here and the address of the business is within my neighborhood. I contacted them through Angie's List to see if they would be interested in submitting a bid to work on my kitchen and half-bath remodel that I had already started.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the owner and name-sake (took me a while to get that) of the business, responded promptly and offered to come out for a free estimate. Now, at this point, my kitchen had been unusable for several weeks and I was not finding the time to progress it with any real speed.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out the next day, Saturday, upon my request for a speedy turn-around so I could reclaim my kitchen. He showed up on time and took some measurements. He was friendly, courteous, and looked like he was taking careful notes as I rattled off my long ?to-do? list of what it would take to get the kitchen finished. I had received a few other bids for the work, but I was immediately sold on
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. We agreed on a price right there and scheduled the work to begin within a couple of days. Now, I can't speak for
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and say that he does this for all his customers, but we worked things out so that I would pay his team on a per-hour contract to get the job done. Everyone is different, but I much preferred this arrangement. I wanted the workers to be able to do a nice job without cutting corners to meet an often arbitrary quoted price and if I didn't like their work I could simply thank them for their time and continue on with the work myself (or more likely, find another crew). Spoiler alert! Everything worked out well so I didn't have to go that road. When construction started, the first morning,
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and two of his carpenters showed up right on time. They introduced themselves politely and we immediately got to the business of going over what I wanted to accomplish in my kitchen. Again, they took careful notes and once they got started, I went about with other business. I quickly felt very comfortable letting them into my house unsupervised. I did check in at several points during the day and they made good progress; I had no doubts that they were working hard. After a few days, they had accomplished everything I had asked of them and then came back for a couple of hours to correct a couple of issues I had with their work. There was nothing major, just a few cosmetic issues, and if I recall correctly, they did not charge for their time to correct things. At this point, I had them take a few days off and I worked myself to progress the kitchen. They had all the skills required to continue the kitchen and were certainly willing to do the work. I was just trying to save myself a little money and also I needed a few days break from the mayhem of construction. With that said,
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team left the construction area a lot more tidy than I did. I had my tools all over the place and I have to say that I was really impressed that they never mistakenly took any of my tools home with them. I think that really illustrates their organization on the job site. At this point I'll just say that I provided all of the essential construction items for the job and had
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
pickup (with some surcharge) lots of those smaller items that always come up. Even though I bought all the fixtures, doors, toilet, flooring, etc. ahead-of-time, they were kind enough to pick up some of the last-minute bulky items I grabbed from The Home Depot without charge. About a week later, I had the workers back on the job and because of their success, I had asked them to remodel a half-bath that is adjacent to the kitchen. So they were here in total, five days and were able to do my partial kitchen and my entire half-bath. The work that they did was: Install kitchen cabinets, fix dry-wall, primed the walls, Laminate flooring, back-splash tile, connected the kitchen sink, installed the garbage disposal, installed a toilet, replaced a door, built a shelf, installed a vent pipe for the oven range hood to the outside, replaced electrical outlets and switches, installed a new bathroom vanity top, did I miss anything
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
? These guys were pretty multifaceted. If you're still reading this, then you should understand that I can be a very detailed oriented person. I would write more but Angie's List only allows so much. :)
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked well with my sometimes exacting personality. His team always took careful notes of what work was to be done. On one day in particular, they showed up in the afternoon, as scheduled, but instead of moving forward, they went home because they had lots of questions for me but I was unreachable at that time. I was disappointed that the work had to stop, but I appreciated that they would rather wait for me to get my input than to just forge ahead and then I'd just have to live with the consequences. So that leads me into my only problem that I occurred on the project. During a discussion that
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and I had about the project,
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
had told me that the kitchen sink was going to be a little bit tricky to install so because of that, he would have to bring in his plumber. I knew going into things that the sink I had ordered was going to be a tight fit, so I had already budgeted for a plumber. I gave
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
a verbal OK and we moved on. The next construction day, the plumber came and told me that the sink wasn't going to be too bad to install; it would just barely fit with the pipes the way they were. Great news; I went to work. That same night I received a follow-up email from
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
supplying me an itemized list of all the work the plumber had done and it equated to hundreds of dollars. I was a bit shocked because it included several line-items for work in the half-bath, none of which we had talked about doing. Installing a toilet and installing a new sink/faucet is not highly skilled work requiring a plumber, assuming there's no broken pipes, broken flanges, etc. Also, I never was consulted on any of the work and never quoted a price on it so I did feel a bit ticked-off at that point because the project was almost done and it had gone so smoothly up to that point. The next day I summoned
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to the house and we talked it over. We resolved the issue by his giving me a break on the price, but as soon as we closed on that deal, he went on to disclose that the gentleman he had do the plumbing work was not actually a licensed plumber.
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
insisted that a licensed plumber would have cost a lot more. However, I had already gotten some quotes from licensed plumbers for that work and his original prices were right in line with most of them. I'm really not sure what happened there, but I didn't like how it happened. I felt like all of this could have been avoided with a phone call because I would have probably been OK with just having his guy go ahead and do most of the plumbing work. Because he was doing pretty basic work, I wasn't too worried about pipes bursting or nasty back-flow, but I didn't like that I was being billed for work that I had no say in, from a guy that was referred to as ?the plumber? and would be expected to pay whatever this guy wanted to receive. The agreement I had with
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was to pay him per hour, for two workers. Truth be told that often it was the case that there were the two main workers, and one or two other workers also in the house at no additional charge. So again, I wouldn't have given him a hard time on this plumbing stuff because I appreciated the hard work and the additional help that showed up, I just didn't like how it unfolded. I don't think it was intentional, just bad communication. In the end, I still got what I believe to be a really good deal on a handsome new kitchen and bathroom. The work they did, rough and finish, was professional. Again I'll say, the crew worked really hard and I was really impressed by that. If they didn't mind my detail-oriented nature too much, I look forward to having them work here again and I have already recommend his team to my friends. P.S. The sub-contractor that did my kitchen back-splash was great.

Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
of
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been the contractor for three of my projects--one commercial and two residential. All of the projects have turned out very well and I always appreciate his attention to detail. He copied the casings for windows and doors for our 1908 bungalow with great precision and craftsmanship. He also finds the best craftsmen to work with him on projects like restoring the original hardwood fir floors for the bungalow.
He offers ideas yet respects the wishes of the homeowner. He is great with paint colors and has offered paint suggestions that have worked out very well. He understands and respects older houses and really has that craftsman touch (he personally does much of the finish work and is on the job site most of the time).
His prices are reasonable and his work has always been finished on time and on budget.

Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came to my home to see the work that I wanted done. He discussed the project in detail, asking questions, providing suggestions, and making recommendations. The next week he sent me a contract listing all the work to be done and the price for the work. I signed the contract and returned it to him.
On the day the work was to begin his workers arrived on time with everything they needed to complete the work on the garage. They worked all day taking only a lunch break. It is amazing to see his team work because they are truly professional. If you look in on the project, they will ask you if everything is the way you want it or if there is something to change. The project took four days and at the end of each work day, the entire area is cleaned up and all debris is taken away.
Another employee did the work on our windows, removing all the old discolored caulking and he replaced it with high quality fresh caulk. The exterior of our windows now appear to be brand new. We were amazed at the difference in appearance.
At the end of the project the leader of the team had us take a look to see if everything was satisfactory. We knew it would be so because of prior work
Valley Center General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has done for us. We have had no problems with the work and we have not had any reason to ask them to come back. However, we have asked them to return to make adjustments on other projects and they have responded quickly and to our satisfaction.
Any project that I need to do in the future will be done by

"For the amount of time and cost of materials spent on the job I found the charge very steep and the results not very impressive, however it's not something I could have done better myself so it's hard to be critical. He did leave a clean and tidy work site.
