"I just finally got my service repaired on September 1, 2015. I had to contact their corporate offfice and it still took over a week to get the parts. They wanted" us to pay for the repairs upfront and kept giving the contractor the run a round and lied that the dates I requested service was incorrect when I have documentation and phone messages. They have refused to pay for our secondary damages and told us to go after the first contractor they sent to our home. Which is not going to happend because that company doesn't answer call at their office. We are going to have to file a homeowners claim with our insurance.

"Home warranty company - insane hold times. It's always due to "bad weather across the country". I was told by 2 different people my microwave was" ordered. On my 3rd call I was told it was never ordered!! She said there's a lot of new people who don't know what they are doing. Somehow they subcontract to Cross Country Home Solutions in S.
didn't get back to my 3 emails or my 2 phone calls (regarding the same issue I had with my microwave where 3 people had to order it.) Very bad service. Very unprofessional of
not to return emails or calls of customers. Once it was actually ordered, GE came out quickly and did a great job but my renewal is up and I'm on the hunt for a good home warranty company.

What's Included in a Good Home Warranty?

What separates a good home warranty from a bad one?

Home warranties

Year after year home warranty companies have topped the Angie's List most complained about category list, with nearly half of member reports in this category rating these companies unfavorably. The key behind this appears to be an expectations gap between the companies and their clients regarding what is covered and whether service calls on covered items are entirely free.

No. 1: fire stations make good neighbors. If you’re more than five miles from a fire station or more than 1,000 feet from a fire hydrant, you’ll pay several hundred dollars more per year for your policy.

Angie's Answers

First, call your insurance company and tell them you do not want any proceeds paid to the contractor under your policy as you are not going with them.  This way they can not collect money on your behalf.  Insurance will typically have you sign a form for release of funds anyway but this is a good extra step to make sure your signature isn't forged.  Second, call the contractor and tell them you will not be needing their services afterall.  Did your husband pay a deposit?  If so it may be non-refundable.  Then follow up with a certified letter.

An email as well doesn't hurt but some states don't yet recognize email as a form of communication for legally binding documentation.  This may have changed and I'm sure more states do recognize them as I haven't followed that topic elsewhere as much as I used to.  The contractor's office should be local.  A sure fire way to ensure they got the message is to deliver the letter to the office of the contractor and have someone at the office sign a duplicate stating it has been recieved and read.  There's no arguing whether they received it or not by doing that.

Hopefully you've learned your lesson about high pressure sales techniques and storm chasers looking for a quick buck.  Some people find out a much harder way.  While these guys may be legitimate you should always do your homework on a contractor before signing the contract.  Unless you have water running out of the house and the work has to be done on the spot it's not so much of an emergency that it can't wait until the next day.

Consider going to library an reading Consumer Reports rating on home insurance companies in your area.  For affordabilty elect the highest deductable you can stomach.  This will lower your premioum, I went thru Costco, they and Sam's Club can be a valuable resource for home and car insurance. Shop on line with your needs to save money.  Unless you have major assets forget large policy. For your gutter and roofing needs see my blog.

Home Warranty reviews in Rowland Heights

Typical insurance company bull**: the internal AC coil is leaking as determined by the service provider they sent us (took them three days by the way - three days without AC in Texas), the technician takes pictures and sends them to warranty company for approval of repair. The warranty company claims that the leak is due to rust/corrosion of the coil. Damage due to rust and corrosion is excluded from their warranty coverage. (???!!!). They have made this determination based on photos sent from the service provider. They are ?not allowed? to share these photos with us. (???!!!)
Needless to say that when you buy their warranty there is zero information on limitations and exclusions. Probably because hey conveniently come up with those exclusions when it's time to reject the claim !

I requested two service calls (one for a refrigerator and another for a leaky faucet).
Although I advised

that the problem with the refrigerator (not cooling appropriately) preceded the service agreement, they scheduled a vendor visit. When the vendor arrived (late) he advised he was unable to make the repairs because he came to assess the problem, and he would have to call

to check if they would pay for the repair. I asked him to check the same evening to avoid having to set aside additional time, and he was told that since it was a pre-existing condition, they would not cover the repair.

had scheduled a service call, although they had been told prior to the scheduling by me that the refrigerator had had the same problem before.
In both cases the vendors arrived late and advised they did not come prepared for repair, that they had come to "assess" the problem and return on another day (to be scheduled), however, they wanted me to pay a service fee the day of the assessment.
I refused to pay the assessment fee and decided to cancel, after the second vendor said he would call me the next day advising of his arrival, and never called or came by. He also advised that all repairs require an assessment visit as part of the contract, this information was not provided by

I called AHS for service to send someone to fix the master bathroom that was clogged. The guy that they send to my house check the the bathroom and it came to the conclusion that the pipe were clogged, but I already told him that, he try to un-clogged using a snake without any success. he then told me that the clog was in the toilet pipes and the toilet would have to be remove for him to fix the problem, but that removing the toilet wasn't part of the insurance coverage and I would have to pay more and he would have to call AHS for permission, I spoke to on representative and she

me that the service guy could not remove the toilet and it was not cover under the Home insurance. I payed the $75.00 dollars service call and told the service men to leave. I went to Home depot and rented a pipes snake and took the toilet out and I fix the problem my self. It took me less than half a hour to do the job.

We have had a home warranty contract with HSA for about 5 years. In the beginning, we were pleased with the service overall. We had several warranty claims processed without much trouble. However, in very recent times, the customer service has completely changed... NOT for the better. The most recent experience we had involved scheduling service to our central air. The first problem we encountered was the level of quality of vendors selected by HSA. It seems that many of the vendors assigned to claims have very questionable, if not unfavorable, reputations. The second issue has to do with ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE hold times when contacting the company by phone. If you want to renew your contract, they can do that almost immediately. However, if you need authorization for a claim (either as a customer or a vendor), you can expect to wait a hour or more. For us, this meant paying our vendor their hourly rate for almost 2 hours just to sit on hold with HSA! When I personally spoke with an HSA rep regarding my disgust with this situation, their only answer was that call volume was high. I absolutely WILL NOT renew this contract and am currently seeking a new warranty with a much more efficient and customer focused company. I am so disappointed with this situation, that I will be filing a BBB complaint as well.

The company never had a service person in our area, and could not recommend anyone for us to call for all 3 of the repairs. We were able to get the repairs completed by using Angie's list to find reputable service. I have had home warranties in the past and this is by far the worst.

We called
Rowland Heights Home Warranty Companies Provider Name Locked
to submit a claim for a plumbing repair on our home. The toilet was not flushing properly and leaking from the base of the toilet. They contacted East Texas Plumbing, to schedule an appointment within 4 hours. The plumbing repair was completed the next morning. very happy with the service.
- Jackie P.

We submitted a claim online. Within a few minutes we got a call from Choice with the number with the plumbing service. We called, made an appointment, and they were very prompt. The repair man looked at the problem and determined we needed a new garbage disposal. He had to leave to get one, but was back in 45 minutes and installed the new one. The whole repair was covered minus the $45 deductible.
