"I purchased a Big Deal to have three mosquito treatments. The first two schedulings went fine. They even worked with me to reschedule treatment # 2 due to the rain forecast. My back" yard gets puddles when it rains which attract a lot of mosquitos. I requested they pay special attention to that area. I accidently sprayed lavender on a window screen and noticed a lot of mosquitos had later been found on the screen. I can imagine what would have happened if I had gone outside with a hint of scented lotion or spray. I don't know what happened; but, they did not come out for treatment # 3 that was scheduled. I've reached out to them via Angie's list message system and have yet to hear back from them. They would have gotten almost all "A's" had they responded. I know things happen, but I did pay for three treatments. It is now too cold to treat. The technician and the office personnel were both friendly and professional. I really liked that I could schedule all three appointments online. They responded and approved my appointment request online. /I'm sure it was an over site. I just would have liked to have gotten all treatments that I paid for.....which was three.

"Residential Sales Manager
W. Cook arrived on time and measured the square feet of the crawl space. He presented me with an estimate for 1,314 square feet. The" Mecklenburg County Tax Office lists the base of the house as 1,314 square feet. I appreciate perfection and professionalism.
Cook was a pleasure to do business with. Technician
Konifka actually did the cleaning out of the crawl space and installation of the 6 Mil Moisture
. His work ethic and professionalism were admirable. The job he did was outstanding. I really appreciate the time and effort he took to make the installation perfect.

"They did a great job. Ultra came out for a consult and told us about potential field mice that had come into our basement. They gave us some pricing but no pressure sales. Followed" up with a nice report. We hired them and the spent 90 minutes setting traps AND crawling around the foundation of our home to seal any entry points. They came back for a followup...written report again. Very effective. Great job. Preventive care.

You have a lot of questions. I will try to cover them all.

First, mice can fit through a hole the size of a dime.
Second, unlike rats, mice are very small; it would take a major infestation to generate a persistent odor as indicated.

Elimination starts by sealing the exterior foundation of the home, door sweeps, broken windows, cracks in the foundation, holes around electrical service, water faucets and dryer vents.

Secondly, food sources must be eliminated. Mice only need 1 gram of food a day and they extract water directly from the food they digest.

Next, mice infestations are more localized than people think, bait under the house might not have any effect. Heat sources like refrigerators and hot water heaters are suspect as a base of operation.

Snap traps are highly effective when used where dropping are found. Use a variety of bait, peanut butter (avoid this if children are present), brownie, fruit and even dental floss tied to the pedal (nesting material).

As for the odor, look for an enzyme based cleaner / deodorizer.

If the problem continues seek the help of a Pest Control Professional with rodent experience.

Hope that helps,

Andrew Deluca

The quickest way I've found to get rid of them (as opposed to preventing them - see answer above) is to put a half cup of cider vinegar (must be cider vinegar) in a jar or bowl and put a half-dozen drops of dishwashing liquid on top of it.  Leave out on a counter wherever the problem exists. Empty and refill as needed.

Legally, it needs to be pest control - wildly boring technical explanation regarding Federal pesticide laws that I won't bother you with.  Having said that, depending on where they are located in your chimnet, you could do it yourselt.  Most wasp control products will shoot 12'-20'.  So, if they are in a lower section of your chimney you wait until dark (they return to their nests before dark) and reach up above your damper and spray the nests.  If you're not averse to being on your roof, do the same thing from the top.  Otherwise, hire a professional.

An exterminator - you have to careful that the pests are driven out of the attic BEFORE the entrance they were using is closed up, otherwise you have dead decaying animals in your attic - can cause a stench that lasts for weeks.

When I called to schedule I said I wanted green treatments because my dog and I both have allergies. I asked if contracts for regular service were required and was told no. I was told I would be given an estimate on the spot but not over the phone. I was not told that if I did not agree to a regular service contract that the price would be jacked up for a one time service. The tech arrived on time and assessed the job. I did agree to non-green treatments because the tech said green treatments are more odorous. In a few minutes I was presented a contract for monthly service with no pre-discussion. The tech represented that NO companies offer incremental month contracts. I found out later that is a flat misrepresentation. I told the tech that I only wanted the one time treatment to see how it went. He promptly increased the price from $298 for the treatment to $325. Even though you only agree to the one-time treatment, you actually sign on the same form you would have for the monthly treatment. I had another estimate for two other companies for less money ($225) but the treatments were not green which was why I chose this company. While the treatment is holding, I consider the price tactic to raise the price if you don't agree to monthly and the representation that no other companies offer bi-monthly or quarterly contracts devious at best. I would not use this company again.

technician was on time (actually a little early), spent time talking with us to understand the concerns we had and the specific pest issues we were having and provided treatments mentioned above. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Provided detailed costs if we wanted additional services, BUT DID NOT PRESSURE US AT ALL. Outstanding value for this service.

The technician showed up on time and sprayed inside the house and around the perimeter of the house for insects. The price was reasonable and the treatment, so far, seems to have been successful. I would not hesitate to use the same service again.

was fast, informative, and thoroughly responsive to my needs at all times. I left a message in the evening about finding a large nest in the ceiling space between two rooms in the basement. Two weeks prior, I called another pest company and was told that they would die off, but I kept finding 10-20 a day and needed help. Due to a life-threatening bee sting allergy, I was too afraid to do laundry and considered moving out for a week or two until the problem could be handled. There was no need to do that, as

used a powder to annihilate them at the entry point, sprayed inside, and advised what to do if any strays were to temporarily be found. I did find a few the next day, which is NOT due to work quality, but to the sneakiness of critters. My home is now bee free and safe!

was very professional, responsive and on time for the appointment. We chose this company because their chemicals are pet and people friendly. The first treatment was for spiders and he provided a 30 day guarantee. The outdoor treatment worked well, however some spiders returned indoors so he scheduled a second treatment free of charge. We would definitely use this company again.
